The World Health Organisation (WHO) has called on countries to ensure that health services across Afghanistan are maintained, as it warned of increasing cases of Covid-19 across the country. The organisation's regional director, Dr Ahmed Al-Mandhari, said that WHO teams in areas which had seen large influxes of people fleeing the Taliban advance are now reporting increasing cases of people with Covid-19 like symptoms. According to the WHO, there have been 152,365 cases of coronavirus in the country and 7,043 deaths. However, Afghanistan has limited testing capacity and reporting of cases across the country is sketchy. WHO spokesman Tarik Jasarevic...

Yesterday, Joe Biden gave the most surreal press conference of his presidency. As Afghanistan descended into further chaos and thousands of Americans remained in harm’s way, the president returned to the White House to give a minutes-long statement on COVID. Biden attacked Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, pledged retribution for anyone not forcing masks on children, and then just walked out. No questions were taken on the issue that was dominating not only the news but also his presidency. An existential crisis was simply ignored. The absolute absurdity and dereliction of duty weren’t lost on DeSantis, who went on Fox...

The Biden administration is not mandating COVID-19 vaccines for White House staff, press secretary Jen Psaki said Friday. During the White House press briefing Thursday, Psaki suggested that every White House official had been offered a COVID-19 vaccine, but clarified Friday that the White House was not requiring officials to be vaccinated.

There's an obvious takeaway about the pitfalls of nation-building, but there's also a deeper revelation about the limits of liberalism itself. The inability to establish an enduring, stable democracy in Afghanistan after spending 20 years, trillions of dollars, and thousands of American lives delivered a decisive blow to the catechism of neoconservatism. But it also revealed blind spots and misplaced assumptions of modern Western liberalism.Liberalism — not the misused synonym for leftism but the political, social, and moral philosophy arising out of the 18th-century Enlightenment — produced many great breakthroughs for human thriving and liberty, including the American experiment itself. Its...

Pope Francis and the politics of episcopal accusationsWhen Pope Francis spoke about Chile’s Bishop Juan Barros in January 2018, the pope probably knew his remarks would be controversial. But he likely did not realize what kind of firestorm they would set off, or how long it would take to repair the damage. The pope was on a pastoral visit to South America, with a stop in Santiago de Chile. A journalist asked him about Barros — a bishop the pope had appointed to the Chilean diocese of Osorno, despite allegations that he enabled, witnessed, and covered up sexual abuse by the...

A fresh bun, that juicy meat, a dash of onions, and slathering of mustard — it makes the mouth water. But is a hot dog really worth losing 36 minutes of healthy living? This is the question posed by "experts" led from the University of Michigan who have evaluated more than 5,000 foods by how much they affect your healthiness. They say that chicken wings can cost you 3.3 minutes of robust living whereas salted peanuts and baked salmon gain you some 26 and 16 minutes, respectively. The study was undertaken by environmental health expert Olivier Jolliet of the University...

In a news release sent to local station KTSM about 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday (1a.m. ET on Thursday), the air force base said "multiple suspects crashed their vehicle" while attempting to storm the gate, which has reportedly been closed until further notice. "Earlier this evening, multiple suspects crashed their vehicle while attempting to force their way through the gate. You can hear a noise as you approach the high iron gates that are the only way into the compound that is the centre of the British airlift operation out of Afghanistan. On either side of a narrow road, inside the walls of the compound at Kabul airport, exhausted British soldiers lie in the shade waiting for their turn to head back outside into the burning sun and the chaos once again. Thousands of people are flooding towards this innocuous place that will, for some, be the gateway to freedom - and for many others, the end of a dream...

The Biden State Department moved in June to cancel a program overseeing the protection and evacuation of American citizens stationed overseas in the case of an emergency, just as the Taliban was taking over Afghanistan, according to an internal State Department memo obtained by the Washington Free Beacon and multiple sources familiar with the matter. That memo, which was marked sensitive but unclassified and was signed by Deputy Secretary Brian McKeon, approved the "discontinuation of the establishment, and termination of, the Contingency and Crisis Response Bureau (CCR)," a new State Department entity created during the Trump administration to coordinate emergency...

A federal judge has reversed the Trump administration’s environmental approval for ConocoPhillips’ multibillion-dollar proposed Willow development on Alaska’s North Slope, throwing a significant roadblock in front of a project seen by analysts as a needed boost to the state’s flagging oil industry and tax revenue. U.S. District Court Judge Sharon Gleason, in a 110-page ruling on two related lawsuits Wednesday, said the Trump administration’s approval of the project under the National Environmental Policy Act was flawed because it failed to thoroughly analyze potential greenhouse gas pollution, and didn’t sufficiently consider legal protections for Teshekpuk Lake, an important subsistence area on...

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are demanding the Biden administration give them a “Gang of Eight” classified briefing on the plan to withdraw all Americans from Afghanistan. The top two congressional Republicans sent Biden a letter, first reported on by Axios, on Wednesday asking for details on the rapidly deteriorating situation in Kabul. Gang of Eight is the term used to described the eight congressional leaders who are briefed on classified intelligence matters. “It is of the utmost importance that the U.S. Government account for all U.S. citizens in Afghanistan and provide the necessary...

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7405337/ Excerpt: ...The evaluation of RF radiation health risks from 5G technology is ignored in a report by a government expert group in Switzerland and a recent publication from The International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection. Conflicts of interest and ties to the industry seem to have contributed to the biased reports. The lack of proper unbiased risk evaluation of the 5G technology places populations at risk. Furthermore, there seems to be a cartel of individuals monopolizing evaluation committees, thus reinforcing the no-risk paradigm. We believe that this activity should qualify as scientific misconduct.

CALIFORNIA TO ALLOW WILDFIRES TO CONTINUE TO FIGHT GRAVITY CHANGE(Sacramento) Officials with the California Forestry Department decided to stop fighting wildfires that have been raging lately in order to fight Gravity Change. Forestry Department head Jim Jacobson said that the planet's density is the biggest factor in his decision to cease all firefighting operations. "When these large trees burn, is reduces the planet's density and that's a good thing." Skeptics throughout California disagree, but the majority of residents support the decision. Brian Wadsworth, who recently lost his home to a fire north of Los Angeles, thinks it's a good idea....

ABC has now released more videos from their interview with Joe Biden last night. The new video is as combative and delusional as I wrote about last night. George Stephanopoulos asks Biden about chaos at the airport and Biden responds that they have control of the airport now, that “no one is being killed right now.” WATCH: Joe Biden falsely claims “no one’s being killed right now” near the Kabul airport pic.twitter.com/x8RJb6gv6V — RNC Research (@RNCResearch) August 19, 2021 Forget about those people who died at the airport, that was “four days ago, five days ago.” It was two and...
