A three judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia late Saturday set a quick schedule to consider whether to allow a new Biden administration COVID-19 residential eviction ban to remain in place. Earlier on Saturday, lawyers for Alabama and Georgia realtors filed an emergency request seeking to overturn the new 60-day eviction ban that was ordered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Aug. 3. On Friday, a U.S. district court judge in Washington said he would have blocked the new ruling but said her hands were tied by an earlier...

Explanation: Comet dust rained down on planet Earth last week, streaking through dark skies in the annual Perseid meteor shower. The featured picture is a composite of many images taken from the same location over the peak night of the Perseids. The umbrella was not needed as a shield from meteors, since they almost entirely evaporate high in the Earth's atmosphere. Many of the component images featured individual Perseids, while one image featured the foreground near Jiuquan City, Gansu Province, China. The stellar background includes the central band of our Milky Way Galaxy, appearing nearly vertical, as well as the...

As the Taliban swallowed what was left of Afghanistan on Sunday, its leaders were making it clear that they have not yet fully achieved their goal. A Taliban leader identified as Muhammed Arif Mustafa told CNN’s Clarissa Ward that Islam will keep on fighting, Forbes reported. “It’s our belief that one day mujahedeen will have victory, and Islamic law will come not to just Afghanistan, but all over the world. We are not in a hurry. We believe it will come one day. Jihad will not end until the last day,” he said. NEW – Taliban: “It’s our belief that...

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday defended President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw American troops from Afghanistan as Taliban fighters began entering the capital, Kabul. In a series of interviews on Sunday talk shows, Blinken said the US succeeded in its mission of bringing those responsible for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to justice and argued that remaining in the country was not sustainable. “Remaining in Afghanistan for another one, five, 10 years was not in the national interest,” Blinken said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” While many have started comparing Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan to...

Instead of addressing the American people or meeting in the Situation Room with US Generals, Joe Biden is all alone in an empty room miles away looking confused. “This morning, the President and Vice President met with their national security team and senior officials to hear updates on the draw down of our civilian personnel in Afghanistan, evacuations of SIV applicants and other Afghan allies, and the ongoing security situation in Kabul.”

The government’s own data show children are far more likely to die from drowning, the flu, homicide, suicide, and many other causes than COVID-19. Last week I received a letter from my children’s school district. “We will start the school year this fall - in-person, five days a week - strongly recommending that all students and staff in our buildings, regardless of vaccination status, wear face coverings,” Lisa Sayles-Adams, superintendent of Eastern Carver County Schools in Minnesota, wrote. “At this time, we are not requiring face coverings.” This was welcome news. My children—like most, I imagine—have expressed their dislike for...

We earlier reported on the chaos - including possible gunfire - at Kabul's international airport, where foreign evacuations are still ongoing. There are reports now of civilians being injured on the tarmac. An eyewitness had told the BBC that the desperate attempts to flee at times resembled a stampede. Now, if any Afghans there wish to return home, they must go through Taliban checkpoints, reports PBS's Jane Ferguson. Journalist Bilal Sarwary shared a video of the airport in the early hours of 16 August

The Marxists behind the regime and the deep state were working their ‘magic’ to turn our country into a socialist gulag with them in charge little by little, like the proverbial frog in the frying pan. Now, with the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, they’re engaged in a full sprint toward tyranny. We’ve gone from “two weeks to slow the spread” of the virus to mandatory vaccines, but they’re not being imposed by the federal government, they’re being implemented by private companies and corporations as a ‘favor’ to the regime in exchange for not being further regulated — and without...

Woke and PC US Military; an analysis. >>>> It is time to face an uncomfortable fact. Our military is no longer capable of fighting and winning wars. >>>> The enemy is there to kill you. The enemy is there to win. You either destroy him and dictate terms or you lose. >>>> We teach diversity and inclusion as if they were ends in and of themselves. We worry about political correctness and sensitivity. We promote those who master group think and group speak. Fighters are nowhere to be seen. >>>> This is how you win. You destroy the enemy. >>>>...

Republican Sen. Ben Sasse (Neb.) is blasting both the Trump and Biden administrations for a "doctrine of weakness" that he said resulted in the current situation in Afghanistan as a government takeover by the Taliban now appears to be imminent. "The unmitigated disaster in Afghanistan — the shameful, Saigon-like abandonment of Kabul, the brutalization of Afghan women, and the slaughter of our allies — is the predictable outcome of the Trump-Biden doctrine of weakness," Sasse said in a statement on Sunday. The senator said the two most recent administrations "deliberately decided to lose" in Afghanistan. "America’s leaders didn’t tell the...

The jump in benefits, the biggest in the program’s history, comes after a revision of the initiative’s nutrition standards that supporters say will reduce hunger and better reflect how Americans eat. Under rules to be announced on Monday and put in place in October, average benefits will rise more than 25 percent from prepandemic levels. All 42 million people in the program will receive additional aid. The move does not require congressional approval, and unlike the large pandemic-era expansions, which are starting to expire, the changes are intended to last.

This is embarrassing. The White House on Sunday tweeted a photo of Dementia Joe sitting by himself as Afghanistan falls to the Taliban. The Taliban seized US weapons, munitions and military equipment such as armored tanks and military vehicles. The US is currently evacuating the country. Instead of addressing the American people or meeting in the Situation Room with US Generals, Joe Biden is all alone in an empty room miles away looking confused. “This morning, the President and Vice President met with their national security team and senior officials to hear updates on the draw down of our civilian...

Neanderthals, long perceived to have been unsophisticated and brutish, really did paint stalagmites in a Spanish cave more than 60,000 years ago, according to a study published on Monday. The issue had roiled the paleoarchaeology community ever since the publication of a 2018 paper attributing red ocher pigment found on the stalagmitic dome of Cueva de Ardales to our extinct "cousin" species. The dating suggested the art was at least 64,800 years old, made at a time when modern humans did not inhabit the continent...A new analysis revealed the composition and placement of the pigments were not consistent with natural processes—instead, the...
