An eyewitness described the scene at Kabul airport to the BBC:
The departure hall turned into chaos after people said boarding passes were being printed secretly for officials and high-profile people who showed up at the airport.
I saw three former MPs, a few deputy ministers and some celebrities queuing up. Some didn’t even have a booking. We waited for almost eight hours, until airport staff started leaving their desks - first the check-in counters and then the migration and passport desks… different rumours created chaos. Some escaped from the airport and some rushed towards the gates.
No-one was in any of the passport check cabins and the QR scan doors were destroyed. There wasn’t a security check before getting to the gates.
We walked through and saw that the big glass doors between the gates and the airplanes were shattered. People ran towards the last plane (it seems the first plane, which was ours, was filled by officials and took off) and there was a second flight which people started to board.
It was almost a stampede.
We walked back and saw many hopeful passengers just sitting under the airplane near the runway. People were shocked and didn’t know what to do, running from one plane to the other.

We then walked towards the exit to get in the car. Armed men in plain clothes were guarding the airport.
People were very desperate, some were running towards the airport, some were escaping. In order to stop people from getting into the airport, the guards opened fire into the air.
When I was getting out, there was a guy shooting in the air. A few minutes away on the airport’s road, I saw several police vehicles left alone on the road with doors open.
I can still hear sporadic gunshots and helicopters.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley told reporters less than four weeks before the Taliban entered Kabul that the local military was fully capable of defending Afghanistan from the insurgent Islamic terrorist militia.
That would be most fitting.
How did the IC miss this? How did the IC miss the Covid debacle that started in China around September, 2019? How did the IC miss the dangers of having almost 100% of our PPE and pharmaceuticals made in China? How is the IC missing the fact that most of the batteries for electrical vehicles are made and will be made in China?
How did the Military’s top Generals miss all the above? Ditto for the State Department? It seems only Trump and his team know what the heck is going on and willing to do what needs to be done.
Don’t get me started on the Southern Border. As far as I am concerned we need to Defund DC. DC incompetence is an existential threat to the survival of this country.
Failure of the military is what happens when you hunt down and excoriate patriotic warriors and men of good character while promoting queers, degenerates, social justice warriors and other assorted freaks who don’t know the muzzle from the butt of a gun and could not possibly care less.
Happy America? At least half of you are responsible for this disaster. The other half stood by and enjoyed their plush lives while it happened.

As a matter of fact in 2001 we had a lot of allies in Afghanistan. The Northern Alliance controlled quite a part of the country and they were willing to fight.
But we ended up actually protecting Taliban from the Alliance wrath!
Now we have nobody.
I believe that our wars and military exist largely for the benefit of private contractors. War profiteers.
Nation building is expensive. So are consultants and suppliers. Halliburton, Blackwater, and other well-connected insiders, feasted on the Iraq and Afghan war budgets.
The Left is right about that. War is big business. The goal being not to win, but to extend the fighting as long as possible.
