Senate Democrats are on track to suffer a stinging defeat Tuesday with Republican opposition expected to sink a voting and election bill that Democrats have made a signature priority, an outcome that will underscore the limits of the party's power with the narrowest possible Senate majority. Democrats have set up a key test vote on the bill that they have pitched as a necessary counter to state-level efforts to restrict voting access, but Republicans have united against it, decrying it as a partisan power grab and a federal overreach into state voting and election systems. Democrats have also faced pushback...

VIDEOONE, just ONE very dubious poll comes out showing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with more support from conservatives than President Donald Trump. As revealed by Brian Craig, co-host of the Steve Kane Show, this poll is very obviously a psyops attempt to pathetically try to produce a rift between Trump and Desantis. Of course, this absurd poll is now being hyped in a big way by "conservatives" who never really liked Trump as well as the usual suspects such as the Morning Joe crew who joyously leaped upon this PHONY poll like a starving dog snapping at raw meat as...

Eight people have been arrested for trespassing during a climate change protest outside Ted Cruz's Houston home. Around 70 activists staged a demonstration outside the Texas Senator's $2million property in the ritzy River Oaks neighborhood on Monday morning, before police were called to the scene. The protest was held by the Sunrise Movement, an organization advocating for political action on climate change, with video showing some of the participants sitting on Cruz's front lawn and refusing to budge. Police negotiated with some of the activists for more than an hour, and threatened to take them into custody if they did...

Imagining the climate of the Antarctica region usually prompts visions of dog sleds, parkas, and explorers like Ernest Shackleton struggling to access the area, only to be beaten back by snow, ice and freezing temperatures. ... ...scientists, paleontologists and other experts of ancient eras say that Antarctica was not always thus, that once upon a very long time ago, its landscape bore a greater resemblance to rainforests than the inside of a refrigerator, and had temperatures that were downright balmy. It’s difficult to imagine, certainly, but about 90 million years ago, sediment samples indicate, Antarctica had the landscape best described as...

Just thinking out loud. Young and pretty(those things count). Wheelchair-bound(inspirational) He'll get the female vote as they'll want to be the ones who 'take care' of him. This article he wrote made me think of about it. It shows he's into details and will put himself out there in an appealing manner. Tillis is up in '26 and Cawthorne will be 30 in '25. President DeSantis should offer Tillis an ambassadorship to the country of his choice so that a (hopefully) republican N.C. governor can appoint him without campaigning for it. Incumbency in '26 means less travel in the wheelchair....

Former President Trump is offering to back a primary challenger to Rep. John Katko (R-N.Y.) after Katko voted to impeach Trump. Trump sent the letter to the chairman of the Onondaga County Conservative Party detailing his support for a primary challenge, Syracuse.com reported. Bernie Ment, the party’s chairman, said he got the message on Monday. The outlet obtained the letter, written on top of an April 23 article by Syracuse.com with the headline “Onondaga County Conservative Party dumps John Katko over Trump impeachment vote.” “A great move,” Trump wrote overtop the article. “Katko will never win again. He is bad...

A group of climate protesters were taken into custody for trespassing outside Sen. Ted Cruz’s home in Houston — after they marched 400 miles to get there, refused to leave and “chose to be arrested,” according to law enforcement. The eight who were arrested were part of a larger group of about 70 people protesting about climate change Monday morning. “The large majority of the group are extremely peaceful out there expressing the First Amendment rights to protest against climate change,” Assistant Houston Police Chief Ban Tien said in a video posted on Facebook. “Unfortunately, there was a small...

“Lee Zeldin’s established himself as a front-runner,” Langworthy said. “He has amassed a lot of support and has raised a lot of funds.” Zeldin has raised $2.5 million. Any Republican candidate would face obstacles in a state that has a large Democratic Party enrollment advantage that has nearly doubled in size since 2002, the last time a GOP candidate won a statewide office. Zeldin is closely aligned with Trump, a polarizing figure who is unpopular among the largely Democratic voters in New York City. snip In a statement, Astorino’s campaign spokesman said the candidate isn’t giving up, even if party...

President Joe Biden will give a speech later this week in an effort to get ahead of an impending summer of violent crime. "The reason is that there's been actually a rise in crime over the last five years, but really the last 18 months. And so, it's an opportunity for the President to speak to what he's going to do to help address that. And as we've seen around the country, it is a concern of many Americans, Republicans but also Democrats too, not necessarily through a partisan lens. It was something the President felt was appropriate to speak...

A Colorado Mayor unilaterally banned the Pledge of Allegiance at city meetings. In an immediate show of defiance, members of the public and the Board of Trustees almost immediately stood and recited it anyhow as the Mayor threatened to call everyone out of order. Mayor Shane Fuhrman made this decision without approval from the Board. The elected officials previously discussed and rejected the idea but the Mayor pushed his anti-Pledge agenda anyhow.

Two top House Republicans among big tech's thorniest adversaries in Washington remain starkly divided on the right approach to rein in Silicon Valley. Two top House Republicans among big tech’s thorniest adversaries in Washington remain starkly divided on how to rein in Silicon Valley’s empire. Earlier this month, a group of bipartisan lawmakers led by Rhode Island Democrat Rep. David Cicilline and Colorado Republican Ken Buck — who serve as chair and ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Antitrust, Commercial, and Administrative Law, respectively — unveiled a broad package of antitrust legislation to break up corporate tech monopolies....

Scarborough, reacting to former Vice President Mike Pence’s mixed reception at the recent Faith & Freedom Coalition Summit, said he heard Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) “was like a conquering king.” He added the governor “is taking over the Republican Party

When President Joe Biden took Ford’s electric F-150 Lightning pickup for a test drive in Dearborn, Mich., in May, the event was more than a White House photo op. It marked a new phase in an accelerating shift from gas-powered cars and trucks to electric vehicles, or EVs. In recent months, global auto manufacturers have released plans to electrify their vehicle fleets by 2030 or 2035, setting up a race to see who can most quickly shift entirely away from producing vehicles powered by gasoline. , I see this moment as pivotal because unlike EVs from manufacturers such as Toyota...

The completed deal means the Korean car maker now owns an 80 percent stake in the company, known for its commercially available robo-dog Spot, valuing it at $1.1 billion. Hyundai's grand plan for the company is to create a "robotics value chain" that spans robot component manufacturing, construction and automation. While the company has been exploring Star Wars-style walking vehicles that rely on robotics, it seems it's just as interested in Boston's warehouse workers including box stackers Handle and Stretch.

With several eviction protections expiring soon, thousands of applicants are still waiting to be approved for help through Travis County’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). As of June 17, 15 applications had reached the “final review” stage, and payment is currently pending for seven of those applicants, according to a Travis County spokesperson. More than 2,500 people applied through a new application portal in mid-April, after the county received $10.7 million dollars in federal funding to be used for rental assistance. Prior to the launch of this new portal, the county’s Health and Human Services division had already received thousands...

Heavy-duty trucks, or semi-trucks with a gross vehicle weight greater than 26,000 pounds, are responsible for around 15% of total U.S. transportation energy use and greenhouse gas emissions. Electrifying these vehicles would be a significant step toward transportation decarbonization in the United States. However, the opportunity for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in heavy-duty trucking is highly debated due to concerns about vehicle range, charging requirements, and battery weights. Researchers from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), in collaboration with two electric utilities, recently studied a promising opportunity for near-term electrification within this segment through depot charging. This research, which examines...
