Michigan Republican Rep. Lisa McClain accused the Biden administration of helping to create a "sophisticated, organized illegal immigration." McCain flat-out accused the Biden administration of effectively abetting the cartels' human trafficking in the way that it resettles children who come over the border alone. McClain claimed the U.S. government was facilitating the back-end of the smuggling process after a trip to tour a government holding facility in her home state.

Former Olympic decathlete and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner has filed her initial paperwork to run for governor of California and will officially announce her bid later today, her campaign tells Axios. The big picture: Jenner, a longtime Republican, is seeking to replace Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in a recall election, hoping her celebrity status and name recognition can yield an upset in the nation's most populous state. But in deep-blue California, she's decidedly not branding herself as a Trump Republican even as she's counting on some of the former president's advisers to drive her strategy. She's assembled a team...

Expert says global leaders must not ignore Brazil, which is ‘brewing variants left, right and centre’ As a coronavirus variant traced to the Brazilian Amazon marauded through Peru’s coastal capital last month, Rommel Heredia raced to his local hospital to seek help for his brother, mother and father. “I said goodbye and promised I’d come back to take them home,” said the 47-year-old PE teacher, his voice muffled by two black masks pulled tightly over his face. Heredia was unable to fulfil his pledge. Three days later, his 52-year-old brother, Juan Carlos, died as he waited for a bed in...

After months of back-and-forth legal battles between Arizona's Republican-controlled state senate and the Maricopa County board of supervisors, the ballots in Arizona’s most populous county will be audited beginning on April 22. Senate President Karen Fann signed a contract to lease the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix from April 19 to May 14 for the Legislature to house the 2.1 million ballots. Now, the Arizona Democratic Party has filed a lawsuit to stop the state Senate audit of the election results in Maricopa County.

Howdy, I’m your host, Houston Mitchell. Let’s get right to the news. Ryan Kartje on the USC Song Girls: Before she put on that iconic white sweater and saw for herself how the wholesome dreams it sold could turn to nightmares, Josie Bullen didn’t worry about her weight. She didn’t count calories or diet. She rarely, if ever, stepped on a scale.

Contemporary morality, courtesy of Cosmopolitan magazine: Standing before her were eight white men, largely unmemorable except for what they all had in common: Confederate flag T-shirts and penises jutting stiffly out of their pants. She was here to have sex with all of them—she knew that; she’d signed the contract. But Ana Foxxx, then 23, was still trying to process the message, what was really being asked of her, when the director, another white man, pulled her into a side room. He showed her images on his computer of other Black women in videos just like this one. He told...

TikTokers are ditching frying pans to make their bacon. Instead home chefs are getting crispy strips by twisting and baking their bacon slices. This rising viral trend appears to have gotten its start in mid-March with the hashtag "twisted bacon." So far, the hashtag has nearly 100 videos attached to the term, which has amassed more than 217,400 views. TikTok users have also hashtagged variations, including "bacon twist" and "bacon twists," which both have dozens of videos that have garnered more than 240,200 views combined. On April 6, TikTok creator Richard Eats shared a twisted bacon tutorial that seems to...

In Wednesday’s reading, the Acts of the Apostles sets forth an event that amounts to a tale of one Church in two cities or regions. It illustrates well a couple of points: that the Church is always in need of reform and that our lives are not merely about us and what we want. Let’s look at the event in two scenes. Scene 1: The Church in Jerusalem –There broke out a severe persecution of the Church in Jerusalem, and all were scattered throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria, except the Apostles. Devout men buried Stephen and made a...

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem Psalm 43Psalm 43[a] 1 Vindicate me, my God, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked. 2 You are God my stronghold. Why have you rejected me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy? 3 Send me your light and your faithful care, let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy mountain, to the place where you dwell. 4 Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you...

We’re less than six weeks out from a district attorney’s election that will be seen nationally as a referendum on the progressive prosecution movement, and all seems eerily quiet. It’s a strangely low-key campaign at a time when we’re being ravaged by a historic murder and gun violence epidemic. You know the chilling statistics. Philadelphia had 499 murders last year, the most in three decades. And it wasn’t because of the pandemic. The city’s murder rate has steadily risen in each year of both Jim Kenney’s mayoralty and the tenure of District Attorney Larry Krasner. This year, though, we’ve jumped...

The other day, Ted Lieu, a Democrat congressman from the Post-Golden State, tweeted at one of his Republican "colleagues": Dear @RepScottPerry: Native-born Americans like you are no more American, and no less American, than an immigrant like me. And with every passing year, there will be more people who look like me in the US. You can't stop it. So take your racist replacement theory and shove it. Mr Perry's Tweet is no longer "available", so I have no idea what he said. But Representative Lieu's response is the "Great Replacement" in a nutshell: It's a crazy conspiracy theory, and...

China has snaffled the planet out from under the United States, but that's no reason for the moth-eaten sock-puppet in the Oval Office not to demonstrate that he's still a power to be reckoned with by holding an Earth Day summit on climate change. In the old days, Earth Day for politicians just meant presidents and prime ministers had to be flown somewhere to be photographed planting a tree. Alas, a year of lockdown has given then a taste for something grander and more economically devastating. In a political culture incapable of talking about anything that matters, the exhausted rituals...

Once again, it’s Earth Day. The first such day was 51 years ago, April 22, 1970. Since that first one, Earth Day has served as an annual opportunity for sanctimonious socialist-minded apocalypticists to issue prophesies of imminent environmental doom. Here from the Competitive Enterprise Institute is a great list of some 50 or so such predictions uttered since the late 1960s, all of which have since been proven wrong. Interestingly, the ones from the time of the first Earth Day mostly concerned overpopulation, famine, and global cooling. Today, those things seem ever so quaint. Somewhere along the line, the prophesy...

The placard at the entrance of George Floyd Square in Minnesota calls it “a sacred space for public grief, and protest, telling visitors to honor the space as a place to connect and grieve as caring humans.” But most of the instructions are listed under five orders “for white people in particular.” “Decenter yourself and come to listen, learn, mourn, and witness,” the first bullet points reads, adding, “Remember you are here to support, not to be supported. Be mindful of whether your volume, pace, and movements are supporting or undermining your efforts to decenter yourself,” the second orders says.

Many Americans realize that there is a cultural and political war underway in America. The outcome of this war ultimately will determine the nation's continued existence as a constitutional republic or become something else, God forbid, such as a socialist/communist totalitarian state. Thus, this article argues that this is no time for members of the so-called conservative "silent majority" to remain silent. As discussed herein, there is a pressing, urgent need for many millions of this majority (estimated to be between 50 and 80 million American adults) to take an active role in overcoming the callous and nefarious agenda of...
