Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Psalm 43
Psalm 43[a]
1 Vindicate me, my God,
and plead my cause
against an unfaithful nation.
Rescue me from those who are
deceitful and wicked.
2 You are God my stronghold.
Why have you rejected me?
Why must I go about mourning,
oppressed by the enemy?
3 Send me your light and your faithful care,
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your holy mountain,
to the place where you dwell.
4 Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God, my joy and my delight.
I will praise you with the lyre,
O God, my God.
5 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

It's not even 9:30 EDT, and already my day has been NUTS. I knew I had a busy day ahead (normally I have Friday's off), because several of my students were under quarantine for the last week and today is the first day I could reschedule lessons. Then, my sister, who lives six hours away , whom I planned to see TOMORROW, had to reschedule her visit to this evening. No Problem! I haven't seen her for over a year (due to COVID) so I am delighted to amend my Friday Schedule to include her!
OK...so I got up fairly early so I could walk the dog and write Today's J-Thread.
As I was walking Penny, I saw with horror that my Beautiful Antique Harley was surrounded by Orange Cones. I knew the Property Management was bringing in a 30 Yard Dumpster, but it appears they are planning to put it right where I park the Harley. So, after taking care of Penny's Business, I got the keys and moved the bike to the space in front of my house.
Next, I fed the Dog, made breakfast, did my Daily Devotional Reading, which happened to be in Jeremiah (DOOOMMM!!!!), and proceeded to the computer to greet you all.
Alas! There was no Internet Connection. I thought it was my browser, so I tried another one. Nope...it WAS the Internet Connection. I made sure all the wires were connected and turned everything OFF. Then I used the time to brush my hair, apply my make-up, and prepare for my very busy day ahead.
I came back into the office, turned the computer on, and VOILA! Everything works again. Let's look at Psalm 43.
How dependent we have become of external things, like the Internet, Electricity, Devices, Social Media, and so on! Perhaps that is why I love my old Motorcycle so much. Although it does have a battery and an electrical harness for the starter and the lights, it is basically this:
2 Cylinders
Two Spark Plugs
A Carburetor
A Gear Box
A Drive Belt
Two Wheels.
There are no Computers, Fuel Injectors, Automatic Transmission, Fuel Indicators, Tachometers, or anything else except a Speedometer to make it legal. The Bike needs MY brain to make it "go".
The same can be said about my big fat Study Bible that I use for my Devotional Reading. It is made of paper, leather, ink, and ribbon. It weighs about 3 Pounds. I got it for eight bucks at a Yard Sale, and it contains the Priceless Word Of God.
I am so grateful for Free Republic, which gives me the Forum to write to you every day (Eleven Years, now, through thick and thin), and I am even grateful for the creepy companies that sell me the Internet so I can reach out every day. But, this morning's events have proven to me how important it is to be CONNECTED to God, without the dependence on Technology or Electronics. The COVID Lockdown has arguably caused more pain than the disease itself. We NEED each other, and need to stay connected with more than ZOOM or Social Media. Most importantly, we need to stay connected to Our Creator, and in His Presence Daily through Prayer, Study, Fellowship, and Community.
OK...I'm off to work!

Amen !!! <><
Psalm 65
To the leader. A Psalm of David. A Song.
1 Praise is due to you,
O God, in Zion;
and to you shall vows be performed,
2 O you who answer prayer!
To you all flesh shall come.
3 When deeds of iniquity overwhelm us,
you forgive our transgressions.
4 Happy are those whom you choose and bring near
to live in your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
your holy temple.
5 By awesome deeds you answer us with deliverance,
O God of our salvation;
you are the hope of all the ends of the earth
and of the farthest seas.
6 By your* strength you established the mountains;
you are girded with might.
7 You silence the roaring of the seas,
the roaring of their waves,
the tumult of the peoples.
8 Those who live at earth’s farthest bounds are awed by your signs;
you make the gateways of the morning and the evening shout for joy.
9 You visit the earth and water it,
you greatly enrich it;
the river of God is full of water;
you provide the people with grain,
for so you have prepared it.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
settling its ridges,
softening it with showers,
and blessing its growth.
11 You crown the year with your bounty;
your wagon tracks overflow with richness.
12 The pastures of the wilderness overflow,
the hills gird themselves with joy,
13 the meadows clothe themselves with flocks,
the valleys deck themselves with grain,
they shout and sing together for joy.
