BLACK Lives Matter protesters crashed Oklahoma’s House of Representatives on Wednesday while it was in session to pass controversial bills. The phalanx of over two dozen BLM marchers entered Oklahoma City’s House of Representatives launching fists in the air and chanting, “We will use our voices to stand against corruption” and “No justice, no peace,” according to the local television station KOCO. The demonstration was organized against what activists describe as an anti-protest bill advancing through the GOP-controlled state Senate and House. One bill increases penalties for protesters blocking traffic and protects drivers who unintentionally strike drivers with their cars....

After years studying the icy waters of the Southern Ocean with floating robotic monitors, a consortium of oceanographers and other researchers is deploying them across the planet, from the north Pacific to the Indian Ocean. The project known as the Global Ocean Biogeochemistry Array, or GO-BGC, started in March with the launch of the first of 500 new floating robotic monitors containing computers, hydraulics, batteries and an array of sensors scientists say will relay a more comprehensive picture of the ocean and its health. "The ocean is extremely important to the climate, to the sustainability of the earth, its supply...

Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) was the only vote against the bill.

The Philadelphia Police Department is struggling to hire new recruits for the force as it is facing a severe understaffing problem and rising crime rates. 6ABC reported dozens of new recruits report for training every three months, but the last class graduated in December and the next class is not slated to start until May. Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5 President John McNesby told 6ABC it has been a perfect storm of circumstances that have led to the current shortage, with many officers taking early retirement and few training classes because of COVID-19. "And you got to remember that...

President Biden claimed that Derek Chauvin's conviction on Tuesday "ripped the blinders off for the whole world to see the systemic racism" of police. With the police shooting that same day of 16-year-old girl in Columbus, Ohio, the White House again pushed the racism claim, noting that this was just another example of how "police violence disproportionately impacts Black and Latino people." But where is the evidence for these claims? In Chauvin's trial, the prosecution never once mentioned evidence that the now-former officer is racist. A day after the verdict, the Biden administration announced plans for a pattern-or-practice investigation of...

Look, I don’t think I need to remind you that we drag CNN, Don Lemon, and Chris Cuomo a lot here. They deserve it most of the time since their commentaries are either idiotic or outright unhinged. But even a blind squirrel finds a nut, and this was a big one regarding this officer-involved shooting in Columbus, Ohio. The woman who was shot and killed by police has been identified as well (via Columbus Dispatch):In an unprecedented move, Columbus police showed body camera footage of the shooting of a 16-year-old girl by a Columbus police officer just hours after the...

Without the ability to place ads or fund-raise, a presidential run is a non-starter. But of course the Corporate Services Group called "the GOP" is all in favor of an unaccountable leftwing monopoly deciding on who is allowed to run for president. Isn't it great that monopolistic transnational corporations have "Supreme Courts" that dictate to countries who they're allowed to vote into office? For Bitch McConnell and the rest of the Get-Along Gang: This is exactly the world they've always {dreamed of}. Maxine Waters and LeBron James have received no penalty from FaceBook or any other social media monopoly. Note...

It is starting to appear that some liberals believe that it is either Ok to be murdered by a teenager or, if murdered by a teenager, the punishment should be less severe. Newsflash. The age of the person who murdered you does not make you any less dead, and the Supreme Court agreed on Thursday, The New York Times reported. The court decided, in a 6 – 3 vote along ideological lines, that a juvenile defendant can be sentenced to life without the possibility of parole without having to have separate evidence proving that they are beyond rehabilitation.

The markup procedure for bills in either house of Congress isn't normally a place for heated debate, but Tuesday was an exception. According to Fox News, the occasion was the markup of several bills before the House Judiciary Committee, the most high-profile of which was the âCOVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.â The discussion comes despite a Democratic expenditure binge and a counter concern for the majority party, the disturbing language by some of its members about law enforcement. During his comments in session, Republican Rep. Chip Roy of Texas took issue with both. After another member pointed out that no services...

Ifell into a vertical garden wormhole for the first time after seeing a Pinterest photo of a “living wall” at someone’s wedding. This was several years ago, and I’ve since learned that lush, green, plant-filled walls fall into a larger category of eye-candy, called “vertical gardens”—and boy, oh, boy, is it a magical corner of content. Just search #verticalgarden on Instagram for a preview (good luck not scrolling through all 208,000 posts). While I’m looking forward to having a living wall at my hypothetical future wedding (it’s the perfect photo backdrop!), creating any sort of vertical garden—even a tiny one!—can...

The Republicans who represent corporations and not you are back with a new version on comprehensive immigration reform. They think that if they just pass it piece by piece, you'll be too stupid to notice and too craven to do something about it even if you did notice. It's actually worse than you might first thing, because "comprehensive" immigration reform, in granting the racial-reconquista left everything they wanted, at least offered some money for border protection as a trivial, gestural sop to the right. But note that John Cornyn is ditching the idea of even any fig leafs of border...

White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said that he hasn’t taken a day off in over a year. The nation’s leading infectious disease expert said it’s been “a surrealistic year” with “literally 24/7″ work, during an interview with Now This News published April 17. “I haven’t had a day off in 14 months, but other than that, I’m doing fine,” Fauci, 80, told Now This News’ Zinhle Essamuah. “You just adapt yourself to it.”

U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s silence on questions about her Boston property and whether she is charging rent during the coronavirus pandemic is becoming deafening. Pressley is one of the leading progressives in Congress but all too often just refuses to respond to non-softball questions — following the Elizabeth Warren school of public relations. One of the latest examples: A press release and press conference last month from her and other members of the “Squad” — Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Rep. Rashida Talib, D-Mich. — announcing they were re-introducing the “Rent and Mortgage Cancellation Act.” What...

President Joe Biden will propose almost doubling the capital gains tax rate for wealthy individuals to 39.6%, which, coupled with an existing surtax on investment income, means that federal tax rates for investors could be as high as 43.4%, according to people familiar with the proposal. The plan would boost the capital gains rate to 39.6% for those earning $1 million or more, an increase from the current base rate of 20%, the people said on the condition of anonymity because the plan is not yet public. A 3.8% tax on investment income that funds Obamacare would be kept in...
