As Judith Smentkiewicz fought for her life in a local hospital last month, she had no idea that her struggle with Covid-19 was the subject of a heated court battle and stories in the news media. Until a few days ago, the 80-year-old woman was unaware that her family’s lawyers had obtained a court order enabling her to receive doses of Ivermectin, a drug that has not yet been approved by the federal government as a Covid-19 treatment. Now that she’s back at her Cheektowaga home and well on the road to recovery, Smentkiewicz is amazed at everything that happened...

The U.S. surpassed 500,000 deaths Monday, marking the latest grim milestone in the country's battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. Health experts anticipated reaching the current death toll this month, as cases and hospitalizations peaked last month. Even as the trend is decreasing on both fronts, with deaths likely to slow in coming weeks, variants circulating bring a new wave of concerns. President Joe Biden is slated to hold a vigil Monday evening to remember the 500,000 lives lost. Projections of the circulation of the U.K. variant (B.1.1.7) show it will be the dominant strain in the U.S. by March. Studies...

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms launched an initiative last year aimed at providing information to Second Amendment-loving Americans. The goal was to provide a comprehensive list of companies and/or CEOs who back gun control initiatives and legislation or have anti-firearm corporate policies in place. “When we started this project last year, we were actually surprised, and in some cases disappointed, at some of the businesses we added to the list," CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said in a statement. "We discovered several brand name businesses and corporate leaders who evidently have a nefarious agenda to...

Kathryn Limbaugh announced Monday that there will be a virtual memorial service for her late husband, conservative radio icon Rush Limbaugh, in the coming weeks. "We are in the initial stages of planning a celebration of life that will be able to be viewed by all of the audience and friends and extended family at some point in the near future. We don't have an exact date just yet, we're working on some of the logistics," she said, noting the virtual ceremony was due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Rome Without A Pope: Jorge Mario Bergoglio is There, but not Peter.Rome is without a pope. The thesis that I intend to support can be summarized in these five words. When I say Rome, I am not referring only to the city of which the pope is the bishop. When I say Rome, I mean the world; I mean the present reality. The pope, although physically present, in reality is not there, because he does not do what the pope does. He is there, but he does not perform his duty as successor of Peter and vicar of Christ. Jorge Mario...

If you catch 100 red fire ants as well as 100 large black ants, and put them in a jar, at first, nothing will happen. However, if you violently shake the jar and dump them back on the ground the ants will fight until they eventually kill each other.

What took place at the Capitol on January 6 was undoubtedly a politically motivated riot. As such, it should not be controversial to regard it as a dangerous episode. Any time force or violence is introduced into what ought to be the peaceful resolution of political conflicts, it should be lamented and condemned. But none of that justifies lying about what happened that day, especially by the news media. Condemning that riot does not allow, let alone require, echoing false claims in order to render the event more menacing and serious than it actually was. There is no circumstance or...

The B-2 Spirit is the United States Air Force’s only stealth bomber in service today. It has remained in service because it can do things other aircraft simply can’t do. Since its introduction in 1997, the Northrop Grumman B-2 has often been the first to fight. It is also the only acknowledged aircraft that can carry large air-to-surface standoff weapons in a stealth configuration. The B-2 can carry up to sixteen B-61 or megaton-yield B-83 nuclear gravity bombs on the rotary launchers inside its two bomb bays. The aircraft’s avionics are even hardened versus the electromagnetic pulses generated by nuclear...

State Dept says Iran envoy Malley has engaged Congress; GOP leaders say he has yet to meet with them. U.S-Iran Envoy [LONGTIME HAMAS ENABLER] Robert Malley has already held consultations with Chinese government leaders but has not spoken with senior Republican foreign policy leaders in Congress, including those with key positions on committees that deal with national security matters. Republican lawmakers on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Senate Armed Services Committee all confirmed to the Washington Free Beacon that Malley has yet to contact them for conversations about the administration’s decision this week to pursue...

By now, much of the world has seen New York's Emmy-award winning governor and "COVID-19 hero" Andrew Cuomo come under fire for New York's growing nursing home scandal. A March 25 directive forcing nursing homes to take in patients who had tested positive for COVID-19 led to the spread of the disease among New York's most vulnerable population. And then, to cover his tracks, the Governor may have obstructed justice by suppressing life and death data from the Department of Justice; his office underestimated the number of nursing home deaths by up to fifty percent. These actions, which Cuomo's aid...

Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked on Monday when President Joe Biden will address the White House press corps independently. “By this time in their presidencies, both President Donald Trump and President Obama had held solo press conferences. Are there plans for President Biden to hold a solo press conference any time soon?” CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins asked.

Trizer Mwakinya, head of communications at the Kenya Wildlife Service, said Monday that workers from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company “were on site” to rectify the problem. But conservationist Paula Kahumbu in tweets addressed to the power company and the wildlife agency said the power lines have been killing giraffes, vultures and flamingos. Close to 1,400 Rothschild’s giraffes remain in the wild in the world and according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature the species is not considered endangered anymore but is now in the near-threatened category.

According to a new survey, almost half of conservatives say they will leave the GOP to join a third-party created by former President Trump. That does not look good for the Republican establishment. The new survey put out by Suffolk University and USA Today found a shocking 46 percent of conservatives are ready to leave the Republican party in order to join Donald Trump. Only 27 percent of Republicans said they would stay in the GOP, with the rest saying they were undecided. No wonder the establishment jumped at the opportunity to disqualify Trump from running for office in 2024....

After calling for an end to partisan gerrymandering, House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) quietly funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars to former attorney general Eric Holder's effort to redraw electoral maps in favor of Democrats, filings show. Pelosi's leadership PAC, PAC to the Future, pushed $300,000 to Holder's National Democratic Redistricting Committee late last year. In 2019, Pelosi said partisan gerrymandering efforts "compromise the integrity of our democracy." Holder’s group is gearing up for a once-a-decade redistricting process that significantly influences which party controls Congress. It will serve as a data and legal hub and as a go-between for...

Earlier this month I wrote about a brutal attack in San Francisco that really shocked people around the country. An 84-year-old man named Vicha Ratanapakdee, an immigrant from Thailand who was nearly blind, was knocked to the ground by a 19-year-old man later identified as Antoine Watson. The unprovoked attack was caught on video. ---SNIP--- In response to all of these violent, senseless attacks on Asian people, activists in New York organized a rally against white nationalism. Here’s the flyer for the event featuring the image of Vicha Ratanapakdee: “Unite against white nationalism.”

2014, when the rail authority awarded the contract, it went with the lowest bidder...which promised $300 million in cost savings by altering the design that the authority had proposed to regulators. Seven years later, these changes have been largely abandoned and have contributed to more than $800 million in cost overruns on the Kings County segment. That figure is 62% above the contract price tag, which the rail authority has agreed to pay, according to interviews and technical and contractual documents reviewed by The Times. In addition, the rail authority awarded the contract without first completing a scientific assessment of...

Every now and then, America mislays one of its Mideast allies. “Who lost Iran?” they asked in 1979, as the shah’s regime went sideways, the answer being Jimmy Carter and the State Department. “Who lost Egypt?” they asked in 2012, as the Muslim Brotherhood took power, the answer being Barack Obama and the State Department. “Who lost Israel?” will soon be added to this perplexed refrain. The answer will be President Biden and the State Department. But this time, America will be losing the region as a whole — to its historic rival, Russia. Iranian mischief will wax again, and...
