On the last day of the 19th century, a Chinese officer was beheaded on the public street where he had precipitated western* military intervention in the Boxer Rebellion by killing a German diplomat. Foreign commercial penetration — and domination — was generating domestic turmoil in China. As liberal reforms foundered in the late 1890’s, a more radical anti-foreigner movement blending spiritualism and martial arts launched the Boxer Rebellion (or Yihetuan Qiyi, in the local coinage). In addition to massacring hated missionaries, the Boxers besieged foreign diplomatic missions in Peking … and veteran German ambassador Klemens von Ketteler was killed in...

January, 2021 Faced by a mounting crisis in Canada brought about by forgetting to pay the electric bill, Canadian armed forces launch an invasion of Detroit to check for spare change in the couches. The 82nd Airborne is dispatched and quickly prevents invasion of the desirable parts of Michigan. The Canadian Army quickly surrenders, but insists on adding an extra “u” in words like labor, honor, and Wednesday. Within 72 hours the Treaty of Fargo is signed, whereby Canada is punished by being prohibited from withdrawing from Detroit, and also forced to take the Jacksonville Jaguars® and Amy Schumer. German...

“It’s a tragedy that this anti-intellectual movement of canceling the classics is gaining traction among educators and the mainstream publishing industry. Erasing the history of great works only limits the ability of children to become literate.” It is really a crime, and—0ne way or another—it must be purged from education.

Vice President Mike Pence asked a federal judge in Texas to deny a Republican congressman’s emergency request for a court order that would essentially allow the vice president to reverse Donald Trump’s election loss during a joint session of Congress Wednesday.

President Trump has called all Patriots to DC on January 6th to defend America. For those who aren't able to travel, we will be hosting our own event here in St. Paul. While we don't exactly know what's going to happen that day, it's bound to be "wild!" Whether you are going to DC or staying here- your participation in this historic day is necessary!

I'll post the Focus on the Family link below. Two remarkably similar videos, emphasizing the science, which is not a bad word but the factual basis of any discussion, or at least the start of it. There is no way for the RNA to affect our DNA because it never enters the nucleus of the cell. There are side effects to everything, including the virus, but nothing nearly as bad as the disease itself. The whole process was overseen by the FDA and nothing that we weren't told about could possibly have been done. And of course there is the...

The year of the coronavirus was a major disaster for professional sports as every league suffered ratings declines, and lost billions in revenue in 2020. TV viewership was not off by just a little, either. It was off an average of 50 percent over last year’s numbers. Even though many Americans were stuck at home as their jobs and cities shut down, TV viewership for sports still cratered. According to Front Office Sports, one of golf’s big games, the U.S. Open, lost 56 percent of its viewers over 2019. Basketball suffered greatly, as well. The NBA finals were down 49...

We enter the new year with the presidential election still undecided and with a good deal of uncertainty about the next few days. Be of good cheer nevertheless! We have a good example to follow. On New Year’s Eve a year ago, President Trump was facing impeachment, and yet he was cheerful as he celebrated with friends and family. Here’s what he said then: “Happy New Year. We’re going to have a great year, I predict. I think it’s going to be a fantastic year.” On that day there was trouble in Iraq, Iran and North Korea – when is...

British health officials greenlighted the AstraZeneca and Oxford Covid-19 shot on Wednesday but also rebuffed one of their central claims: that a half-dose followed by a standard dose offered more protection against infection... Munir Pirmohamed, chair of a British advisory group on Covid-19 vaccines, validated those doubts on Wednesday saying the 90% efficacy rate did not hold up under analysis. Instead, Pirmohamed said a higher success rate may be due to a longer gap between the administration of the first and second shots. “The low dose/standard dose regimen, although it has been quoted to have an efficacy of 90%, this...

A suburban Milwaukee pharmacist who allegedly spoiled hundreds of COVID-19 doses by removing them from refrigeration has been arrested, authorities said Thursday. The now-fired employee's actions resulted in 57 people receiving ineffective vaccine doses at the Advocate Aurora Health Hospital in Grafton, hospital officials said. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment, adulterating a prescription drug and criminal damage to property, all felonies, the Grafton Police Department said. Authorities have not determined a motive. The pharmacist has not been identified. Hospital officials said the unidentified pharmacist intentionally removed the 57 vials that held 500 doses of the Moderna...

The year 2020 will be a year that many will want to erase from memory as soon as possible. The forecasts for 2021 look good with a vaccine approved in many countries and vaccination programs underway. But what about the cruise industry? Is there reason to be hopeful for the year to come, or are there still many pitfalls the cruise lines will need to avoid? We look at what challenges 2021 will bring, what cruise lines will need to do to overcome adversity, and how long financial experts think it will take before the industry is on pre-COVID levels...

CALAIS, France (Reuters) - Moments after Britain completed its divorce with the European Union, the first trucks hauling goods across the new customs border presented their clearance documents to French agents before loading onto a train to pass through the Eurotunnel. A barcode on Romanian driver Toma Moise’s paperwork was scanned and approved in seconds. “The future, I don’t think it will be difficult,” he said in broken English before continuing his journey towards Britain. Cast as the dawn of a newly independent “global Britain”, its exit from the world’s biggest trading block means the return of customs formalities on...

SALEM, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Gov. Kate Brown issued a stern warning Thursday that Oregon businesses who defy her executive orders, which she said have reduced the spread of COVID-19, will face enforcement through fines or even 'Red Warning' closure notices. Red Warning Notices apply to businesses that appear to be in willful violation of the governor’s executive orders or who refuse to take corrective measures, the governor's office said. Such businesses are closed until the hazardous condition is remedied. Violation of a Red Warning Notice results in stiff penalties, they added. Under Oregon OSHA rules, a Red Warning Notice can...

The group behind the suspected Russian attack into U.S. government agencies and private companies was able to hack into Microsoft's internal systems and access some of the company's source code, the tech giant said in a blog post on Thursday. Microsoft had previously said it was among thousands of companies that discovered malware on its systems after downloading a routine software update from the company SolarWinds containing a possible "backdoor" for hackers to gain access to sensitive company data. But the admission on Thursday is the first time Microsoft acknowledged that the attackers had successfully broken into the company's systems...

Happy New Year To All Of Good Will! All Others, Stand By.I "borrowed" some of the phrasing of that title from the commander of an aircraft carrier, dispatched by George Bush Jr. to the ME in the wake of 9/11. Seems fitting here.According to the MSM, the commander announced over the PA system as the carrier left its US port, "Peace on Earth to all men of good will. All others, stand by."And here are just a few of them, standing by:The video clip shows the Bush family members stunned, having just looked at the contents of a mysterious white...
