MILWAUKEE -- Prosecutors have charged a 17-year-old Illinois teen accused of shooting three people during a protest in southeastern Wisconsin this summer with violating curfew that night. Kyle Rittenhouse was charged in August with multiple counts, including reckless and intentional homicide, endangerment and being a minor in possession of a firearm. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that prosecutors added violating curfew the night of the shootings to the list of charges on Monday. The offense is a civil citation punishable by forfeiture.

One of our members suggested that for the January cooking thread, we do Soup. So here we go. One of my favorite soups is a Sausage-Bean-Spinach soup; I can’t recall where I found the recipe, but we first made this on a very cold day after Christmas, for some friends who had attended the local Christmas Bird Count, and it was a hit - it’s a very stick-to-the-ribs dish: Sausage, Spinach and Bean Soup 8 oz. Hot Italian Sausage, casing removed (or your favorite sausage - I usually use one of the little 'chubs' of hot sausage) 1 tsp. Olive...

Two megachurches in Albuquerque, New Mexico, are facing stiff fines and community backlash after health officials alleged the houses of worship violated Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham's COVID-19 executive orders by hosting indoor Christmas Eve services attended by hundreds of congregants. One of the churches responded with a public statement saying, "when governments exceed their constitutional authority and contradict what we are called on by God to do, we answer first to His authority." Legacy Church and Calvary Church were both sent notices of "contemplated action" by the state Health Department on Monday. The notices said the churches are each being...

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Argentina on Wednesday became the largest nation in Latin America to legalize elective abortion, a triumph for a feminist movement that overcame a last-minute appeal by Pope Francis to his compatriots and could pave the way for similar actions across the socially conservative, heavily Roman Catholic region. After a marathon 12-hour session, the country’s Senate passed the law after midnight by a comfortable 38-29 margin just two years after a similar initiative fell short in a cliffhanger vote. The legislation, which President Alberto Fernández has vowed to sign into law in the coming days, guarantees...

The Church in Wales is considering introducing same-sex marriage blessings in its services, after Bishops proposed radical changes to the Book of Common Prayer. Presenting the change to its Governing Body, the Bench of Bishops said: “We believe that same-sex relationships can be understood in a radically different way, and that the teaching of Scripture should therefore be re-interrogated.” Responding to the announcement, The Christian Institute’s Ciarán Kelly said the Bishops had got their decision-making “the wrong way round”. Marriage changeIf approved, same-sex couples who are already legally married or in a civil partnership will be able to receive a...

VATICAN CITY — Even though the baptisms the pope celebrates most years in the Sistine Chapel are better known, the most important place to be baptized in Rome for the past nearly 1,600 years has been the baptistery of St. John Lateran. The ancient baptistery was built in 440 A.D. just behind the Basilica of St. John Lateran, which was the first Christian basilica founded in Rome by Emperor Constantine in 324 A.D. For generations, it had been the only baptistery in Rome, and, according to the baptistery website, there has never been a year since it was built that...

Talk radio star Mark Levin told his social media audiences that he would be leaving Facebook. “Please follow me at Parler as I will leave Facebook in 4 days for continuingly censoring me,” Levin said to his social media followers on Dec. 28. Levin then sent out a second post the following day indicating to his followers that he would be leaving the platform “in a matter of hours.” He called Facebook “corrupt.” The announcements came after Levin had already hinted at boycotting the social media giant. Since October Levin received three notifications from Facebook indicating his page had been...

There's always been a rule book when it comes to period dramas, particularly festive ones. In the well-trodden adaptations of Jane Austen, with their Regency balls and prim ladies in correct cotillion, the most risqué of jokes extend no further than references to rear and vice admirals. The frocks may be tightly laced under every temptingly plump décolletage, but unlacing will never occur on screen. How very different from the Netflix blockbuster Bridgerton.

Lawyers representing Louie Gohmert and a group of Arizona Republicans disclosed in a court filing Tuesday that Vice President Pence rejected their request to join their attempt to block electors. Gohmert and 11 GOP “alternate” electors from Arizona filed suit against Pence on Monday in an attempt to argue that the vice president has sole authority to determine which presidential electors Congress will count when it certifies the results of the election. The suit essentially asks the court to grant Pence the authority on Jan. 6 to overrule the results in swing states such as Arizona and have Congress count...

U.S.—Many Americans, in anticipation of a $600 government-issued stimulus check, have treated themselves to a brand new gun. Now that President Trump is calling instead for $2000 checks, gun stores are struggling to keep up with customers returning their $600 guns and purchasing $2000 guns. “I sure am glad I kept the receipt!” exclaimed local gun enthusiast Anthony Harb upgrading his firearm. “It’s time to treat myself to something truly special!” The bill was originally intended to provide relief for those out of work and affected by the ongoing pandemic, but after the U.S. paid hundreds of millions to other...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has taken an uncharacteristic stance against President Donald Trump during his final weeks as commander-in-chief. McConnell is leading the charge for the first successful veto override of Trump's presidency after the president vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act. The Kentucky Republican is also doing eveything he can to derail a push for COVID-19 stimulus checks to be raised to $2000, which Trump has come out in support of in recent days. McConnell is poised to win these battles but it could backfire and cost the GOP its majority in the Senate given the popularity of...

COVID is over on Feb. 8 The end of social distancing, and the secondary knock-on effect of exposing masking as an unenforceable charade, is approximately 40 days away. How apropos that we must wander in the desert of dystopia 40 more days, but here it is. What is the most precise way of determining when social distancing will end? The return of full-sale concert arena events. Note that this also portends the end of masking, as there is zero chance concert security is going to bust a fully-sold arena for mask violations. And the first one is a shocker. Michael...

The BMW driver whose ride was surrounded and trashed by a gang of bicyclists on Fifth Avenue was attacked in broad daylight while driving with his elderly mom — who screamed during their escape, “We’re going to die, they’re going to kill us!” Max Torgovnick, 36, recounted the harrowing run-in to The Post one day after it unfolded around 4 p.m. Tuesday at 21st Street and Fifth Avenue. “It’s something that I never expected to happen in New York City,” said Torgovnick, a lifelong city resident. “That’s something like you would see on the streets of a war zone. I...

Earlier this year, several pilots reported seeing a "guy in a jetpack" in the airspace above Los Angeles International Airport on two separate occasions. Now, another pilot says she spotted what appears to show someone flying a jetpack. And this time, the sighting was caught in a jaw-dropping video. Brandy Fogelman, a flight instructor at Sling Pilot Academy, recorded the video last week during an instructional flight with a student.
