There's always been a rule book when it comes to period dramas, particularly festive ones.

In the well-trodden adaptations of Jane Austen, with their Regency balls and prim ladies in correct cotillion, the most risqué of jokes extend no further than references to rear and vice admirals.

The frocks may be tightly laced under every temptingly plump décolletage, but unlacing will never occur on screen.

How very different from the Netflix blockbuster Bridgerton.

It’s always sexier to leave a hint to the immagination than to go full soft(er) porn. The female lead must have found the role repetative, mechanical, and career-limiting.

It seems Netflix is nothing but a garbage disposal with it's discharge pipe aimed at your screen.

Personally I've found Tubi to be better quality than Netflix. Tubi is free and you can find dozens and dozens of good movies and shows, from all categories.

A period drama set in the early 1800's with an English duke who's black and the historical Queen depicted as part black (she wasn't).

Sounds fascinating. I'll be on pins and needles waiting to see it.
