Previously, fields such as biochemistry operated under the assumption that chromatin and other elements of the nucleus operated in a liquid state... This new understanding of the physical properties of chromatin challenges that idea, and could lead to a more accurate understanding of how the genome is encoded and decoded. All of our chromosomes are made from chromatin, which is half histone (or structural) proteins and half DNA, organized into long strings with bead-like structures (nucleosomes) on them. Inside the nucleus of a cell, the chromatin fiber interacts with itself to condense into a chromosome. The chromatin fiber also supports...

Workers on Sunday began packaging shipments of the second COVID-19 vaccine that could be administered to some Americans as soon as Monday as it's revealed that more than 1.6 million people have already been vaccinated in four different countries. Employees at a factory in the Memphis area were boxing up the vaccine developed by Moderna and the National Institutes of Health. The much-needed shots are expected to be given starting Monday, just three days after the Food and Drug Administration authorized their emergency rollout.

December 20, 2020Fourth Sunday of Advent Basilique Notre-Dame – Montreal, Canada Reading 1 2 SM 7:1-5, 8B-12, 14A, 16 When King David was settled in his palace, and the LORD had given him rest from his enemies on every side, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God dwells in a tent!” Nathan answered the king, “Go, do whatever you have in mind, for the LORD is with you.” But that night the LORD spoke to Nathan and said: “Go, tell my servant David, ‘Thus says the LORD:...

Anyone who thinks he knows how things will develop when the Electoral College votes are counted on January 6 is probably smoking something. In theory, since all the electors have been “certified,” there’s nothing the legislatures can do now. To quote Porgy and Bess, “It ain’t necessarily so.” Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution says, “Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors…” The date is set by Congress in 3 USC 7. 3 USC 15 sets the January 6 date for counting the electoral votes. Neither date is in...

The Gospel of Jesus can be summed up in three statements He made during His ministry. One statement was directed toward the Pharisees who questioned why He hung out with sinners and tax collectors. "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."(Mark 2:17) Another statement was directed towards those who complained when He went into the house of Zaccheus, a chief tax collector in Jericho. And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is...

Rescuers are trying to free more than 1,000 vehicles which have been stranded on a highway for two days after a heavy snow storm struck Japan. Authorities have distributed food, fuel and blankets to the drivers on the Kanetsu expressway, which connects the capital Tokyo to Niigata, in the north. The snow, which began on Wednesday evening, has caused multiple traffic jams along the road. It has also left more than 10,000 homes in the north and west without power. A Kyodo News report said that there were multiple reports of congestion at different points of the Kanetsu expressway. The...

When, last week, we wrote about 56% of Americans stating they would be OK living in a "tiny home", this isn't what we had in mind. But apparently, in L.A., being homeless has its perks. What better way for California to help get its budget crisis under control than to pay for minimalist structures, known as “tiny homes”, to the total cost of $130,000 each, for its homeless. What was once an idea to house the homeless in "emergency shelters" has now - as things do in liberal states - turned into "expensive development projects with access roads, underground utilities...

.This does not mean that President Trump is throwing in the towel. President Trump has several options left to expose the historic fraud in the 2020 election. ** President Trump can still confiscate and examine the controversial and suspect voting machines. ** President Trump can encourage the AWOL Justice Department to investigate and prosecute those who committed fraud. ** Mark Zuckerberg could be investigated for his role in shady election practices. ** President Trump can bring in the inventor of the QR Code, IT expert Jovan Hutton Pulitzer, to conduct his scan on completed ballots. ** President Trump can order...

It may be purely coincidental, but on the same day that House speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader McCarthy received an intelligence briefing on Eric Swalwell's relationship with Chinese spy Fang Fang, two highly regarded conservative journalists report that an anonymous source has confirmed that he was engaged in a sexual relationship with her.

WASHINGTON, Wednesday, Dec. 19. Senator JOHNSON'S speech to-day was a strong vindication of the supremacy of the Constitution, and a refutation of the asserted right of any State to secede. It was able and impressive, and was listened to with interest. Naturally enough the ultra Southern Senators are dissatisfied with it, as it was severe in its denunciation of Southern ultraism, and left little hope that Tennessee would yield to it. Gen. LANE made a brief reply. The Deficiency bill was passed in the House, including an appropriation of $900,000 for the return of recaptured Africans. EDWIN E. STANTON, of...

It really does seem off in the distant past, that in the literal 11th hour, post meridiem eastern that is, President Donald Trump looked to be cruising towards reelection. The truth is, it was only about seven weeks ago that America seemingly changed forever. Since then, we have had no shortage of news related to legal challenges and shocking accusations, while we have simultaneously seen “release the kraken” replace “flatten the curve” as the most overused and annoying phrase of 2020. The basis for this contention is the integrity, or lack thereof, of the American election system. After the countless...

Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock frame themselves as moderate Democrats to appeal to the traditional red state of Georgia. But their true intentions are seen with their policies and their friends. Georgia voters deserve to know the truth. The media has shown them as moderate Democrats, as both candidates seek to move the conversation away from hallmark initiatives like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. But their platforms share more in common with Bernie Sanders than with Zell Miller or Sam Nunn. Their true goals would work against Georgia voters. A great success is that our...

Doctors told Nichole Brewer that her mother, Rhonda Withem, would not be able to breathe again on her own after suffering complications from the coronavirus, KTHV reported. Withem, who tested positive for the virus on Nov. 7, initially quarantined while she monitored her symptoms. As they continued to worsen, she was eventually admitted to the intensive care unit at Saline Memorial Hospital. For two weeks, she remained in the ICU on a ventilator. Doctors told Brewer her mother had been unresponsive during attempts to remove her from the ventilator. “The doctors said it would just be hours once they took...

Gina McCarthy and Deb Haaland are on Biden’s climate team. This should be interesting given both of their ties to the disastrous Gold King Mine spill of 2015. That year, a mine up near Silverton, Colorado was under clean-up protocols by the EPA. The same EPA that Gina McCarthy was running at the time. Then, the spill happened. The Animas River turned into yellow sludge from southwestern Colorado all the way into and nearly through New Mexico. Who lives in New Mexico and just the year before lost her bid to be NM Lieutenant Governor? Joe Biden’s new choice for...

In C. S. Lewis’s book, "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," he describes a beautiful place (Narnia) under the spell of an evil character (the White Witch) – who symbolizes the Devil. Lewis writes of her that it was she who has made it "always winter, but never Christmas.""Always winter, but never Christmas" – what a great phrase to describe this world, without the loving, powerful, and positive influence of Jesus Christ.Could you imagine life in such an intolerable state where we had to endure the brutal conditions of the winter season – but never having Christmas to look...

It’s a scene playing out across California. According to state data Friday, all of Southern California and the 12-county San Joaquin Valley to the north had exhausted their regular intensive care unit capacity and some hospitals have begun using "surge" space. In hard-hit Fresno County in central California, a new 50-bed alternate care site opened Friday near the community Regional Medical Center. The beds for COVID-19-negative patients will free up space in area hospitals, where just 13 of some 150 ICU beds were available Friday, said Dan Lynch, the county’s emergency medical services director. Lynch said he expects they will...
