“When I first got here, I ran because we were mortgaging our kids’ future,” “I’m not heartless. I want to help people. I voted to help people. I voted for the $2.2 trillion CARES Act, but I also am concerned about our children’s future.”

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted to fight a pair of election subpoenas served by a top Arizona state senator this week. Members voted 4-1 on Friday in favor of filing a complaint to an Arizona court, challenging two subpoenas issued to them by Eddie Farnsworth, the Republican chairman of the state Senate Judiciary Committee. "I am disappointed in the Senate Judiciary chair," said supervisor Steve Gallardo, a Democrat who noted his public service with Farnsworth during the board meeting. "I am very disappointed of the subpoenas that were sent over to the county. I believe he knows better....

A spokesperson for the U.S. Supreme Court disputed a report that claimed Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts shouted at the eight other justices in a room in the high court, urging them not to take up the Texas election lawsuit against four other key states. As guidance, the court “has been conducting its conferences remotely by phone since March when the building closed due to the pandemic,” a Supreme Court spokesperson told The Epoch Times via email on Friday in response to a question about the claim. The statement contradicts what a GOP Texas elector, Matt Patrick, said earlier...

His Eminence Metropolitan Neophytos of Morphou explained in his Sunday sermon why he is unwilling to close the churches in his Metropolis despite the latest order from the state that all churches throughout the country be closed. “The law of God is above the law of the state,” he said. According to the latest order, all Church services are to be held without any of the faithful until December 31. Met. Neophytos announced to his flock last week: “In the metropolitan area of Morphou, we inform, as the local Metropolitan, that our holy churches will continue their operation and will...

...New York Times left-wing columnist Thomas Friedman suggested this in his Tuesday column titled “Kamala Harris Deserves a More Important Job”: Harris is too smart and energetic to be just the vice president, a position with few official responsibilities. I’d love to see President-elect Joe Biden give her a more important job: his de facto secretary of rural development, in charge of closing the opportunity gap, the connectivity gap, the learning gap, the start-up gap — and the anger and alienation gap — between rural America and the rest of the country. Friedman went on to argue that Harris was...

The Grand County coroner is calling attention to the way the state health department is classifying some deaths. The coroner, Brenda Bock, says two of their five deaths related to COVID-19 were people who died of gunshot wounds. Bock says because they tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 30 days, they were classified as “deaths among cases.” “It’s absurd that they would even put that on there,” she said. “Would you want to go to a county that has really high death numbers? Would you want to go visit that county because they are contagious. You know I might...

Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson took a sledgehammer to Dr. Jill Biden’s doctorate degree, saying she is no more an actual doctor than Bill Cosby or Dr. Pepper. ... The media, the same group of people who insisted Sarah Palin was the dumbest person on the planet, naturally feigned outrage at Epstein’s piece, labeling it sexist. ... Carlson had an absolute field day with the controversy. Never one to cave to the fake outrage mob, Tucker Carlson had an absolute field day in mocking the good doctor, Jill Biden. “Jill Biden is not a doctor, no. Maybe in the same...

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 on Friday to dismiss a challenge to the Trump administration’s exclusion of undocumented immigrants from the U.S. census, the once-per-decade population count used to allocate House seats among the states. The decision broke along ideological lines, with the court’s six conservative justices finding that the lawsuit brought by nearly two dozen states was premature. The court’s three more liberal members dissented. NPR reported: The U.S. Supreme Court dodged a ruling on whether President Trump can exclude undocumented immigrants from a key census count. The opinion said the case was “riddled with contingencies and speculation that...

Reading Glenn Reynolds’ heartening article in the NY Post —“It’s time for the ‘Deplorables’ to become the Unconquerables”—inspired me to say something I’ve been thinking for a while. It’s time for the “Deplorables” fully to take over the Republican Party. Some have suggested starting a new party—and I can understand that, given the frustrations—but why go to the trouble when you have the numbers to have all the power? An existing party apparatus is sitting there and is there for the taking. Let’s do it. Just to be clear—who do I mean by the “deplorables”? They are the decent, hard-working...

You hear some awfully funny things online. On Monday, we heard a benediction pronounced after the Michigan Electors committed treason. Later, while Texas was casting their Electoral Votes, we heard mention of Chief Justice Roberts screaming at his fellow SCOTUS judges. No! Say it cannot be! Judges are above politics. Irreproachable. Job security for life. Independent. Or are they!? The source of the intel is an unnamed clerk in the Supreme Court of the United States who heard-what-he-heard last Friday when the Justices retired to deliberate on whether or not to take Texas' case against the embattled states so obviously...

attorney general Barr is reflecting on the calls he made that benefitted President Trump and a few that didn't in his final days in office – as he said the CIA didn't stray beyond its international spy brief in 2016. Barr told the Wall Street Journal he was suspicious that CIA agents – who are barred from spying on Americans – had spied on President Trump's campaign. The president repeatedly alleged publicly he was spied on. But according to Barr, it didn't happen. 'The CIA stayed in its lane,' he told the Wall Street Journal in an interview.
