The Grand County coroner is calling attention to the way the state health department is classifying some deaths. The coroner, Brenda Bock, says two of their five deaths related to COVID-19 were people who died of gunshot wounds. Bock says because they tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 30 days, they were classified as “deaths among cases.”
“It’s absurd that they would even put that on there,” she said. “Would you want to go to a county that has really high death numbers? Would you want to go visit that county because they are contagious. You know I might get it, and I could die if all of a sudden one county has a high death count. We don’t have it, and we don’t need those numbers inflated.”

And folks get so mad at me when I tell them Covid is a scam...

Perfect example why Covid stats are bullshit.
One of the symptoms of Covid is getting shot just like it causes motorcycle accidents and many other things such as old age.
That said, if the shooting arose over an argument about mask wearing, then I suppose one could assert the death was, "COVID related."
I would give good odds that in this context 40% meant 2 of 5.
It does matter for places with good stats.
My county, population over 120k, has had one death, and would like to keep things low. We are in one of four green unites (of 37 total units) in Ontario, compromising about 3% of the province’s population. The four are all fairly rural and isolated.
I’m guessing social distancing was not effective.

It's not politics, it's $$$.
It’s also politics.
It was recently announced by CDC that all pneumonia, influenza and Covid deaths are lumped together in a number category listed as Covid but labeled “PIC” thus pneumonia and influenza deaths are deflated and Covid inflated in the statistics.
I guess we’ll have to wait for the total mortality rates to come out for this year to see if all other manors of death declined sharply. I’m sure this will be debated for years by the pointy heads.
Look om the bright side. If you shoot someone and they list the cause of death as Covid you’ll get off Scott free.
At the least you can claim self defense as they came within 6 ft of you.
