U.S. Food and Drug Administration staff recommends monitoring people who get Pfizer or Moderna’s Covid-19 vaccine shots for possible cases of Bell’s palsy, saying it’s not necessarily a side effect but worth watching out for after a handful of trial participants got the condition, which causes half of your face to droop. A 54-page staff report released Tuesday said there were four reported cases of Bell’s palsy among Moderna’s more than 30,000 clinical trial participants. Three of the participants who got Bell’s palsy also received the vaccine instead of a placebo shot. Pfizer’s trial similarly had four reported cases of...

Like it all unfolded in 1776, when George Washington was defeated and run out of New York (Battle of Long Island, August 27, 1776) by a well organized and overwhelming force of just arrived 32,000 British Army regulars and foreign Hessians, causing him to retreat in repeating defeats one after the other (Manhattan, White Plains, Fort Washington) resulting in ultimately running across New Jersey and into Valley Forge Pennsylvania with a badly reduced and injured army 6 days before Christmas in December 1777. We also now face the task of WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? I see only ONE PATH behind ANYTHING...

Bill Gates expressed support for shutting down bars and restaurants for up to six months and indicated lockdowns may continue all the way into 2022. The billionaire Microsoft founder made his sobering warning during an interview with CNN over the weekend. “Well, sadly, the next four to six months could be the worst of the epidemic,” he told anchor Jake Tapper in discussing lockdowns and his support for extreme restrictions such as stay-at-home orders issued by California Governor Gavin Newsom. “Bars and restaurants in most of the country will be closed as we go into this wave, and I think...

The universal feel-good elixir expresses itself deliciously from culture to culture. It’s rare that a dish appears in cuisines all over the world. Chicken soup — the global feel-better elixir — is one of them. Soothing and comforting at a time when so many Americans are ailing from a pandemic or smarting from bruising political battles, it is this season’s perfect panacea. Chicken soup can celebrate what so many of us have in common: When someone sniffles, moms and grandmas (and increasingly pops and grandpas) around the globe drop chicken in water with aromatics and simmer away. At the same...

It might be getting close to Christmas, but Santa still has plenty of time to get some fishing in. While things can get crazy this time of year, it’s also important to remember that the holidays are the season of giving. A group of nearly 300 fishermen kept that tradition alive in one of the most seasonally appropriate ways possible: angling à la St. Nick. Fishing rod company Ugly Stik held a bass fishing tournament in North Carolina on Saturday and raised over $15,000 worth of donations for Toys for Tots. In the spirit of the season, participants even dressed...

....After the forensic examination of 16 Dominion Voting machines in Antrim, Co. MI, Allied Security Operations Group has concluded that the Dominion Voting machines were assigned a 68.05% error rate. DePerno explained that when ballots are put through the machine, a whopping 68.05% error rate means that 68.05% of the ballots are sent for bulk adjudication, which means they collect the ballots in a folder. “The ballots are sent somewhere where people in another location can change the vote,” DePerno explained. The allowable election error rate established by the Federal Election Commission guidelines is 1 in 250,000 ballots or .0008%....

[Catholic Caucus] Viganò: “For Fear of a Seasonal Flue”The last months were “one of the darkest moments in the history of mankind,” Archbishop Viganò writes in a meditation published on AldoMariaValli.it (December 15),For the first time since Christ’s birth, the Holy Keys were used to close churches and restrict the celebration of the Sacraments, “almost anticipating the abolition of the Daily Sacrifice prophesied by Daniel, which will take place during the reign of the Antichrist."Our bishops and priests, barricaded themselves in their palaces and presbyteries “for fear of a seasonal flu” and surrendered to an absurd “pseudo-pandemic,” Viganò explains. With “cynical...

On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) said the city is “going to need a shutdown, and I think the sooner the better.” Host Wolf Blitzer asked, “The numbers are already going, as we all know, in the wrong direction, so why wait until after people gather to celebrate the holidays, Christmas, New Year’s, Kwanzaa, folks are celebrating Hanukkah right now, why not do it now?” De Blasio responded, “Wolf, I think there’s certainly an argument for that. Look, the state of New York makes this decision. I’ve had this conversation several...

A COVID-19 relief package, reportedly negotiated between a handful of Senate Republicans and Democrats, includes a bailout for Defense Department contractors while excluding a second round of stimulus checks for Americans. A draft of the relief package, obtained by The Daily Poster, reveals that the spending bill does not include a plan by Senators Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to provide Americans with $1,200 stimulus checks but does provide a bailout for defense contractors. Slipped into the package, seemingly on the final 525 pages, is an extension of a CARES Act provision that allows federal agencies to pay...

At least 43 churches were closed in Suzhou, while 24 in Huaibei, 20 in Fuyang, and 16 in...

After the electoral college's official affirmation of Biden's victory, Texas electors on Monday asked their counterparts in four battleground to switch their votes to President Donald Trump. The last-minute resolution from Texas' 38 electors passed 34-4, but was too little, too late, according to Texas Tribune's Alex Samuels and Abby Livingston. The states mentioned in the resolution—Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin—had already cast their votes by the time of its passing. Within the rhetoric of the resolution, the Texas electors "condemned the lack of action by the U.S. Supreme Court" and repeated a line of demonstrably false claims concerning widespread...

CNA Staff, Dec 10, 2020 / 07:01 pm MT (CNA).- The doctrine committee of the US bishops’ conference (USCCB) earlier this year produced a guide to evaluating the lyrics of hymns on the basis of their doctrinal content, noting that Vatican II declared sacred music’s purpose to be “the glory of God and the sanctification of the faithful.” “Christian tradition, both Eastern and Western, has from antiquity been acutely aware that hymns and other songs are among the most significant forces in shaping – or misshaping – the religious and theological sensibility of the faithful,” the committee wrote in “Catholic...

A Nobel peace prize nominee has accused the director-general of the World Health Organisation of allegedly aiding genocide in Ethiopia. American economist David Steinman accused WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, 55, of being a 'crucial decision maker' who directed Ethiopia's security forces actions from 2013 to 2015. He accused Tedros of being one of three officials who were in charge of the security services over that period, during which the 'killing' and 'torturing' of Ethiopians took place. Tedros was the country's foreign minister until 2016 when his Tigray People's Liberation Front party was in power. Raised in Tigray, he also...

On December 10, 2020, a California Superior Court issued a preliminary injunction protecting Father Trevor Burfitt and his Catholic parishes from the discrimination being heaped on them by Governor Gavin Newsom and those under his authority in the name of COVID-19 prevention. Thomas More Society attorneys are representing Burfitt in his suit against Newsom and other state, county, and municipal officials. Judge Gregory Pulskamp issued the order on December 10, prohibiting Newsom and the others named in the lawsuit from enforcing COVID-19 related restrictions against Burfitt. The court specifically singled out the provisions of Newsom’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy...
