California Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday that his administration is considering a statewide curfew amid a surge in COVID-19 cases. Daily COVID-19 cases have doubled in California over the last 10 days, forcing the governor's office to pull "an emergency brake," Newsom said at a press conference detailing the state's response. A total of 41 of California's 58 counties are now classified as "purple," the tier of COVID-19 related spread requiring the strictest lockdown guidelines. Just 13 counties were classified "purple" last week. ...Newsom said his team is reviewing studies from France, Germany and Saudi Arabia on the “efficacy of...

Efram Zimbalist must be turning in his grave. I'm watching last night's episode of the FBI TV series. It is set in New York City, which in real life is being tor apart by left wing local politicians and their BLM and Antifa friends. Who are the bad guys in the series? A white supremacist group with a patriotic name. This series is off my list.

Senator Bernie Sanders, in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, claimed “nobody” he knows talks about the need to defund the police. Tapper began by mentioning how Democrats have suggested that pushing progressive policies in the Georgia Senate runoffs could hurt their candidates. He cited House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-SC) who recently said, if “we are going to run on Medicare for All, defund the police, socialized medicine, we’re not going to win.” Sanders sought to change the narrative. “Let’s rephrase that,” he insisted. “Nobody I know who’s running for office talks about defunding the police.” “What we talk...

Sidney Powell went on Newsmax Tuesday night and discussed the efforts of the Trump team to stop the attempted steal of the US Election by the Biden Campaign. .......Snip....... And the will of the people in this country was that Donald Trump win in a landslide. If we can get to the bottom of it, and I am determined to do that, I think we’ll find he had at least 80 million votes. The only reason the glitches happened in the system is because he was so, had so far many more votes than they had calculated in advance. Their...

The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday cleared the Boeing’s 737 Max to fly again after a nearly two-year ban, a turning point in a protracted crisis for the aircraft giant stemming from two crashes of its top-selling plane that killed 346 people. “The design and certification of this aircraft included an unprecedented level of collaborative and independent reviews by aviation authorities around the world,” the FAA said in a statement. “Those regulators have indicated that Boeing’s design changes, together with the changes to crew procedures and training enhancements, will give them the confidence to validate the aircraft as safe to...

Someone might survey the current media landscape and lecture us conservative media watchdogs that our game is over. Is anyone in America so remarkably naive to believe that the news media are "objective" and nonpartisan, fair and balanced? This old claim seems to have been obliterated under President Donald Trump, but it was also deeply eroded in the media's incessant and aerobic adoration of former President Barack Obama. Obviously, conservatives believe that the job of holding the news media accountable is ineluctably connected to the media's alleged watchdog role. As long as the "objective" press sounds like tinny echoes of...

Mars, the company behind M&M’s and Snickers, is acquiring the maker of Kind bars, the snacks that celebrate their lack of artificial flavors and preservatives, company executives told The New York Times in an interview. The deal for Kind North America comes three years after Mars, a privately held giant in the candy industry, took a minority stake in the company. Terms were not formally announced, but people with knowledge of the deal said it valued Kind at about $5 billion. Kind, which was founded by Daniel Lubetzky in 2005, sells bars in flavors like Cranberry Almond and Dark Chocolate...

This week, Abigail Shrier, author of the new book "Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters," found herself at the center of a firestorm. Her great crime: writing an assessment of the psychological phenomenon known as rapid onset gender dysphoria, where groups of psychologically vulnerable young girls begin to self-diagnose as transgender after one member of a peer group does so. The book is sober and evenhanded. Nonetheless, all hell broke loose after one person on Twitter -- one! -- tweeted at Target, prompting the retailer to pledge not to make Shrier's book available (a decision it later reversed)....

It would be a brave person who was prepared to bet, even now, against Donald Trump says Sky News host Alan Jones. Mr Jones said he suspects the Trump team is in the process of gathering “irrefutable evidence of criminal collusion” in the fallout of the US election. He said under an Executive Order of 2018, signed by President Trump, the government has the power to arrest and seize the assets of any organisation or individual who attempted to alter the result of the 2020 election. "This Trump Executive Order about rigging elections, which he signed into existence on September...

Well, Mr. Dorsey… I cannot think of a greater harm than climate change, which is transforming literally our planet and causing harm to our entire world. I think we’re experiencing significant harm as we speak. I recognize the pandemic and misinformation about Covid-19 manipulated media also cause harm but I’d urge you to reconsider that because helping to disseminate climate denialism in my view further facilitates and accelerates one of the greatest existential threats to our world.

It's trending on social media and generating excited media reports -- another study showing an ingredient found in mouthwash can kill the coronavirus. In this case, it's as fast as 30 seconds. But mouthwash is unlikely to ever be a solution to the pandemic, or even someone's own personal protection plan. That's because many things can kill a virus on contact, but they're not going to stop the source of the virus. "Yes. There is some data out there -- I am not saying it's great data -- that fill-in-the-blank substance inactivates or inhibits replication of coronavirus," Dr. Graham Snyder,...

The U.K. will stop selling new diesel and petrol (gasoline) cars and vans from 2030 under plans announced by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The move is part of a wider 10-point plan for a so-called “green industrial revolution” aimed at generating as much as 250,000 jobs and combatting climate change. Announced late Tuesday night will focus on a range of areas including carbon capture and storage, low-carbon hydrogen generation, offshore wind and nuclear energy. Given that internal combustion engine vehicles still represent the majority of vehicles driven on U.K. roads, there are clear hurdles to overcome if the 2030 target...

Milwaukee police have arrested the man who became the face of this summer’s Black Lives Matter marches, Frank Sensabaugh, as part of a sexual assault investigation. Sensabaugh is credited by Wisconsin media for helping organize a series of riots since late May. Sensabaugh, 39, better known as Frank Nitty II, posted a video of police coming to his door Monday night. In the video, police tell him that a woman had made a serious allegation of sexual assault against him. Milwaukee County Chief Deputy District Attorney Kent Lovern said he knew about the arrest, but that it hadn’t been referred...

With the pandemic, more parents are discovering what their children are being taught in public schools—from explicit how-tos in sex-ed class to narratives of power that divide everyone into oppressors and oppressed. Yearning for a richer emphasis on cultural literacy, character, and civil discourse, parents are turning to alternative curricula, such as Core Knowledge and classical education, as well as learning environments such as homeschooling, pods, micro-schools, and public charters. The opportunity for reform is there, but we must first understand how much needs to change. The content in many schools is a problem, but a deeper one remains: Too...

When Others Abuse Today’s Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:5 “[Love] . . . is not easily angered.” I certainly don’t advocate "doormat" Christianity, letting people continually run over us or abuse us. There are times when we must stand up for what is right and just. But we should not sin in the process. We must face the fact that much, if not most, of our anger is sinful, even though it may arise from the sinful actions of others. In emphasizing our sin of anger, I do not mean to minimize the sin of those other people. But there’s an...

The U.S. government collected its first fine as part of a new bilateral deal that forces Mexico to prosecute anyone who damages the fence along one part of the southern border and send penalties collected to the United States. American and Mexican leaders reached a deal a year ago this week to start arresting, prosecuting, and seeking damages from anyone caught attempting to destroy border barrier in southeastern California, where Border Patrol made $396,000 worth of repairs at 1,300 cuts in its fence in fiscal 2019.
