A proposed new law currently wending its way through the Scottish Parliament would make it a crime to utter so-called hate speech, even in one’s own home. The speech-quelling bill is being championed by Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Justice Humza Yousaf. Entitled the Hate Crime and Public Order Bill, the new law, if passed, would criminalize so-called hate speech and create a new crime for “stirring up hate.” Critics of the bill believe that it would have a chilling effect on entertainment, especially comedy, and could lead to entertainers, writers, and other public figures being arrested for offering opinions...

.Despite the document's questionable authorship and anonymous sourcing, its claims that Hunter Biden has a problematic connection to the Communist Party of China have been used by people who oppose the Chinese government, as well as by far-right influencers, to baselessly accuse candidate Joe Biden of being beholden to the Chinese government...

A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that mailed-in ballots in Minnesota must be received by elections officials no later than Election Day. The 2-1 ruling -- a win for the Republican challengers to the state's plans -- cuts off a weeklong window after Election Day where state officials had planned to receive ballots that had lingered in the mail. The court found the Minnesota secretary of state's accommodation went against a state law that said ballots delivered by mail to elections officials after 8 p.m. on Election Day should be marked late. "The Secretary's instructions to count mail-in ballots received...

Walmart says it has removed ammunition and firearms from displays at its U.S. stores, citing 'civil unrest' in some areas. The nation's largest retailer, based in Bentonville, Arkansas, sells firearms in about half of its 4,700 stores. The move comes days before the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 3, with many worried that the result could be contested or spark violence. 'We have seen some isolated civil unrest and as we have done on several occasions over the last few years, we have moved our firearms and ammunition off the sales floor as a precaution for the safety of our...

CNN refused to run a pro-Trump ad submitted by America First Action PAC on the ground that the ad, which predicts middle-class tax increases if Joe Biden wins, isn’t true. Jim Treacher has the details. CNN seems obviously to be wrong; Biden has promised to reverse the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which cut taxes for (as I recall) something like 82% of American households. The middle class must be in there somewhere. I don’t think anyone takes CNN seriously as anything other than a mouthpiece for the DNC, so there is no point in getting exercised about it. All...

I happen to know a thing or two about masks and safety. Why? Because for 25 years I was the editor of an award-winning trade magazine called HazMat Management that covered such topics as pollution prevention and compliance with health & safety laws. We routinely published articles on masks, gloves, respirators and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE). Now let me tell you a few things about that mask you’re wearing. And please note that what I’m about to share was also stated in the most recent edition of Del Bigtree’s program The Highwire when two OSHA mask experts...

Most Accurate in 2016 - This projection is based on polls and the early vote in the four battleground states that offer hard data and a high level of confidence, not TargetSmart estimates. Each projection is rooted in our interpretation of polling, which was the most accurate in 2016, or in the early vote. We projected both the popular vote and 48 of 50 states correclty in 2016. Key States: Pennsylvania - While Democrats are building a large lead in the early vote, their ballot request total (ceiling) does not match expectations while Republicans' requests exceed forecasts. Ballot request totals...

Rep. Ilhan Omar, in an interview with Axios, said that progressives are waiting to fill Joe Biden’s cabinet and will push him to “act accordingly” on several policies including banning fracking. Omar’s comments are another in a long string from members of the ‘Squad’ – a more radical faction in the Democrat party – that they intend to push Biden to do their bidding should he win the election. The Minnesota Democrat believes “all of the cabinet positions should be filled by progressive Democrats.” She then ticked off a litany of policies that other Democrat presidential candidates supported but were...

Centaurs are minor planets thought to have originated in the outer region of our Solar System known as the Kuiper Belt. Active centaurs enigmatically display prominent comet-like features such as comae or tails even though they orbit in the gas giant region where it is too cold for water to readily sublimate. Only 18 active centaurs have been identified since 1927 and, consequently, the underlying activity mechanisms are still poorly understood. 2014 OG392 orbits between 10 and 15 AU (astronomical units) where its equilibrium temperature would be around minus 213 degrees Celsius (minus 351 degrees Fahrenheit). Chandler and colleagues initially...

As a general rule, if you’re going to pay someone extra to tell a “little white lie,” they’ll do it. After all, what difference does it make how someone died? That seems to be the case with many hospitals across the nation as they’re counting pretty much any death as a COVID-19 death. Why? Because they government will pay them more for it.According to One America News:The latest numbers from the CDC reveal hospitals have been counting patients who died from serious preexisting conditions as COVID-19 deaths. One America’s Pearson Sharp has more, as the CDC counts over 51-thousand patients...

Jesus loved to speak to the crowds in parables. “These things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables … that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, ‘I will open My mouth ins parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world’” (Matthew 13:34-35). The Bible clearly states there are secrets of the Lord: “His secret counsel is with the upright” (Proverbs 3:32). These hidden truths have been unknown from the foundation of the world, but Matthew tells us they’re buried in Jesus’ parables. They have power to truly set Christians free...
