When the call went out from New York for volunteers to travel to the epicenter of the pandemic in the fight against COVID-19, from 1,800 miles away, Paul Cary raised his hand. On March 28, the veteran paramedic got in an ambulance and drove for 27 hours straight from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to New York City, trading shifts at the wheel with his colleague. They were part of a fleet of 29 private ambulances and 72 medics from across the country, from the company Ambulnz, headed there to ease the burden on the city's overwhelmed EMS services.

The dash to overnight millennial celebrity can take abrupt detours. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the democratic socialist from the Bronx in New York City, was propelled from an anonymous existence as a bartender after her upset victory in 2018 straight onto magazine covers, late-night TV and the top of every partisan love-hate list in America. It made her perhaps the most exposed and fixated-on House freshman in history. Today, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress - known simply as AOC - owns another distinction, this one far grimmer: She represents the nation’s most devastated hot zone of the coronavirus outbreak....

Police in Macon, Georgia, arrested 19-year-old Passion Latrice Watkins on April 26 in connection to the shooting death of her 36-year-old stepmother Melanie Powers, who was more than eight months pregnant at the time of her death. Watkins has been charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, cruelty to children, and feticide, according to WMGT. Georgia’s criminal code states that a person who “willfully and without legal justification causes the death of an unborn child by injury to the mother of such child, which would be murder if it resulted in the death of such mother, or if he or she,...

At least 1,000 Kentuckians protested Saturday in Frankfort against Gov. Andy Beshear’s decision to allow abortions to continue while restricting church gatherings and small businesses. Kentucky Today reports protesters urged the governor to reopen the state and allow people to return to church and work. Like many Democrat governors, Beshear restricted church gatherings, small businesses, non-essential medical care and more to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus and preserve medical supplies for life-saving medical care. However, the governor allowed an exception for elective abortions – after the state’s only abortion clinic donated to his campaign, something state Rep. Stan...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MAY 02, 2020 CCFR calls for Blair’s Removal OTTAWA, ON -The Canadian Coalition for Firearm Rights (CCFR) is calling for the immediate removal of Minister Bill Blair from the Public Safety file. Following a reading of yesterday’s regulation banning a swath of semi-automatic firearms and a briefing with officials from Public Safety, CBSA, Global Affairs, RCMP and the Department of Justice, it was made abundantly clear that the regulations were crafted in haste, and that the government has neither planned nor formulated the rest of the legislation required to implement their hastily crafted policy. As a result,...

The president of the European Commission backed calls for an investigation into the origin of the new coronavirus and said China should be involved in the process. Lawmakers in countries like Germany, Sweden and Australia have called for a probe into how the virus started, which has so far infected over 3.2 million people and killed over 230,000. Speaking to CNBC, Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the EU’s executive arm, said she would like to see China work together with her organization, and others, to get to the bottom of exactly how it emerged. “I think this is...

The speaker of New York City’s Common Council is demanding that Samaritan’s Purse be booted out of New York City immediately and abandon the field hospital it set up in New York City’s Central Park to help treat COVID-19 victims. Corey Johnson, a Democrat who opposed the group’s arrival in the days when the city was desperate for any form of help to address the disease, issued his demand in a string of tweets, citing the fact that the Rev. Franklin Graham’s ministry supports traditional marriage as grounds to throw Samaritan’s Purse out of the city. Advertisement - story continues...

Nancy Pelosi is at it again with another attempt to force Americans to fund abortions in legislation meant to help people dealing with the averse effects of the coronavirus. This time, Pelosi and House Democrats are wanting to fund abortions under legislation that’s supposed to help Americans who are unemployed and needing health insurance coverage. Pelosi is so dedicated to promoting abortion and forcing Americans to fund killing babies in abortion that, earlier this year, she was caught trying to add taxpayer financing of abortions to the bill to combat the Coronavirus and provide economic stimulus to the nation as...

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Gov. Ralph Northam presented his reopening guidelines for Virginia today during his update on the coronavirus outbreak in the commonwealth. Also, restaurants can reopen but will need to limit their seating to allow for social distancing. He said phase I will likely last three weeks and won’t happen until at least next week.

Three years ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and through a year long process, I have been approved for Deep Brain Stimulation. I have 3 procedures to go through. The first on May 5 (tomorrow) is the simplest as they make four small incisions in my scalp and place small screws as markers for the MRI and CT which will be used to make a 3d printed jig for the second part. I will be under local anesthesia for this part because they don't want any movement during the CT and MRI. (I'm going to ask them to take...

The Treasury Department plans to borrow $2.99 trillion from April through June to cover the federal government’s massive response to the coronavirus pandemic, issuing a tremendous level of debt to try and limit the economic impact on U.S. businesses and workers. Last year, Treasury borrowed $1.28 trillion over 12 months. The $3 trillion in borrowing Treasury plans to do now would be done over just three months. Congress has approved nearly $3 trillion in new spending in the past two months to try and arrest the economic fallout of the crisis. Because revenue levels are falling, Treasury is planning to...

It seems a number of major US media outlets have financial ties to the Chinese Communist Party, and it shows in their coverage. Despite the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) record of oppression, corporate media outlets are parroting the authoritarian government’s propaganda, even in the midst of an outbreak the CCP worsened through a cover-up. Many of those media outlets have financial ties to Chinese companies with intense oversight from the CCP.“You often see representatives from American companies with financial ties to China naturally become defenders of the CCP’s policies and spreading the CCP’s propaganda,†said Helen Raleigh, an author and...

When Drew Layton dropped out of college in 2006 to play online poker full-time, it was a hard sell to his parents: “They were not thrilled,” he said. But 14 years later, as coronavirus and the subsequent shelter-in-place orders have shut businesses around the globe and forced people to stay inside, some jobs have proven more stable than others. For Layton, online poker seems to be a good bet. Layton said he had seen a marked increase in traffic to websites where he plays and thus a rise in his income. “I wouldn’t say I’m thriving because of the pandemic,...

Sir John Bell, an immunologist and the Regius Chair of Medicine at the University of Oxford, said we'll probably know pretty soon whether Oxford's highly anticipated coronavirus vaccine works. Bell told NBC's Chuck Todd on Sunday's edition of Meet the Press that researchers will likely "get a signal by June" about the vaccine's efficacy. The Oxford vaccine has made waves because of the rapid and unprecedented pace of its development and the possibility that it could hit the market in a limited capacity during the fall. If it does prove successful — and Bell's tempered opinion is that "prospects are...

Q1. Are the majority of gun controllers pro-choice? Q2. If Q1 is true, is this hypocritical? I go to the HIGHLY GUARDED (lest any irrelevant but dangerous pro-lifers go in trying to dissuade women from having abortions) Kaiser Permanente HMO in California, a sign on the wall says "No Lethal Weapons Allowed" -- except Dilation and curettage (D&C) and Vacuum Aspirators, the equipment used for abortion.
