The speaker of New York Citys Common Council is demanding that Samaritans Purse be booted out of New York City immediately and abandon the field hospital it set up in New York Citys Central Park to help treat COVID-19 victims.
Corey Johnson, a Democrat who opposed the groups arrival in the days when the city was desperate for any form of help to address the disease, issued his demand in a string of tweets, citing the fact that the Rev. Franklin Grahams ministry supports traditional marriage as grounds to throw Samaritans Purse out of the city.

It is time for Samaritans Purse to leave NYC. This group, led by the notoriously bigoted, hate-spewing Franklin Graham, came at a time when our city couldnt in good conscience turn away any offer of help. That time has passed, Johnson, who is both openly gay and HIV-positive, according to The New York Times, wrote in the first of his series of attacks on Samaritans Purse.
Their continued presence here is an affront to our values of inclusion, and is painful for all New Yorkers who care deeply about the LGBTQ community, he wrote.

My statement on Samaritan's Purse:

He called upon Mount Sinai Hospital, which was working with Samaritans Purse, to stop working with the group.
Mount Sinai must sever its relationship with Samaritans Purse, he wrote.

I'm aware that our battle against COVID-19 is still ongoing, and that our health care systemand the amazing workers who have been the heroes of this unprecedented time in our historystill needs support.
NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson @NYCSpeakerCoJo
The @NYCCouncil is committed to supporting those workers and protecting our city's public health. But as a city that values diversity and compassion for all, we can't continue allowing a group with their track record to remain here when we're past the point they're needed. 4/ 256 6:26 PM - May 1, 2020]

Mount Sinai must sever its relationship with Samaritans Purse. Its leader calls the LGBTQ community "detestable" and "immoral." He says being gay is "an affront to God," and refers to gay Christians as "the enemy."
[NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson @NYCSpeakerCoJo
Samaritan's Purse requires its volunteers to agree to a written affirmation that marriage is exclusively the union of one genetic male and one genetic female. Hate has no place in our beautiful city. 6/6]
Many pushed back against Johnson on Twitter. [Marsh @marsh_hick · May 2, 2020 Replying to @NYCSpeakerCoJo
"Sure they selflessly helped anybody who needed help, showing compassion regardless of creed, sexual orientation, or sexual identity, but they've committed thoughtcrime. As tolerant people, we must run their kind out of town for their beliefs."
Marsh @marsh_hick
Whether this is coming from, a misguided but honest attempt to help folks, simple cynical politicking, or anything in between, I'm willing to bet they'll still be there next time you need help.
These, by the way, are those folks who were there for NYChttps://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/ny-diary/

The Parable of the Good Samaritan is about a Jewish man unexpectedly receiving help from a despised enemy with whom he had serious religious differences. Jesus intended to scandalize his Jewish hearers and shake them out of their self-righteousness.
Seems relevant. 451 11:39 PM - May 2, 2020 ]

I tottaly get you Councilman. One time my neighbor (who I hate) offered to jump my car when it was dead on the side of the road.
I took his help (of course) but, once my car was started, I spit in his face and told him to get lost.
Same energy.

The best part about this is, if Covid spikes this fall, I'll bet Samaritan's purse would still set back up in Central Park.
Because that is the kind of people they are. 55 11:14 PM - May 2, 2020]
The field hospital will close in about two weeks, Mount Sinai and Samaritans Purse announced Saturday, but only because new admissions are declining, according to the Gothamist. An emergency COVID-19 facility set up at the citys Javits Center has closed, and the USS Comfort hospital ship has left New York City as well due to the drop in new cases.
Since April 1st, this partnership has resulted in high-quality medical care for 315 patients infected with the virus. We are grateful for this opportunity to work together to save lives and reduce suffering, Samaritans Purse and Mount Sinai announced in a joint statement, Gothamist reported. Now that the surge in COVID hospital admissions is reaching manageable levels, we will stop admitting new patients to the Central Park field hospital as of May 4.

The statement estimated it will take approximately two weeks to treat these last patients and subsequently decontaminate and remove the tents.
The statement included a positive note.
While this crisis is far from over, this marks a significant turning point in the coronavirus outbreak in New York that gives us assurance that we are returning towards normalcy, it stated.
I wonder what the (dis)honorable councilman’s perversion is.
Disgraceful.
my Lord! what a jerk!
no wonder so many people are leaving NYC!
someone that wishes the citizens to DIE instead of receiving medical help, cures?
this is the kind of garbage that gets elected in NYC!?
i mean, we knew NY politics has been pretty awful for a long time, but THIS?
praying, praying...
I pray that idiot statements like this one from the NYC creep increase donations to Samaritans Purse 100 fold!!!
Democrats are demonic.
Here ya go....from wiki:
“Johnson made national headlines in 2000 when, as captain of his high school football team at Masconomet Regional High School, he publicly came out as gay.”
Why so much hate?
People will remember if wave two happens
But of course. It is a crime against humanity, to homosexual activists, to be so Neanderthal as to think that marriage is a man and a woman.
sarcasm.
Rhetorical question — how much assistance has been rendered by homosexual activist groups in this crisis, compared to that rendered by Christian or other religious relief organizations?
So, a disgusting pervert is showing that his sexual perversions are not his only problems. Shocking.
“We are all in this together,” unless you have different political views, then you are an evil monster.
Corey Johnson, Masshole faggot, GWU grad.
We shouldn’t pay any attention to what he thinks of an organization like “Samaritans Purse.”
Johnson’s religion is the DEVIL’S EVIL.
He will burn, in the end!

That is the perv’s bottom line. Just think of all the hard work so many volunteers did in setting up that hospital tent city. This is the thanks they get. Interestingly, I never saw any signs in or around that hospital referring to LGBTQRSTUWXYZ or whatever they want to call themselves. I’ve come to hate these people. Yes, I said hate. It’s a nasty but natural human emotion.
I thought I heard today that Franklin said they will be there 2 more weeks before they pack up tents. so far they helped 191 people, i think was the number mentioned.
Samaritan’s Purse had better take down that hospital city and take it with them or else the evil men like this councilman will turn it into a portable abortion clinic.
“The statement estimated it will take approximately two weeks to treat these last patients and subsequently decontaminate and remove the tents.
i wonder how they decontaminate without any run off into surrounding ground?
Why do these intolerant shitheads always have such evil eyes?
