Washington Post media blogger Erik Wemple recently published the 13th article in a series on the partisan liberal media promoting the Hillary Clinton-funded dossier ex-British spy Christopher Steele assembled with information from his Russian contacts. Newly declassified notes from the report by Justice Department inspector general Michael Horowitz suggests that Steele's "findings" -- promoted all over D.C. by the Democrat-funded research firm Fusion GPS -- were part of a Russian disinformation campaign. "It's ironic that the Russian collusion narrative was fatally flawed because of Russian disinformation," quipped Sens. Charles Grassley and Ron Johnson, who requested the declassified footnotes. Wemple, as...

What started as a dry run to ensure instruments on NASA's Mercury Surface, Space Environment, Geochemistry and Ranging (MESSENGER) spacecraft worked properly later turned into a 10-year saga that resulted in a chance discovery unrelated to the mission's target planet, Mercury. It's about Venus and its atmosphere. The team reports April 20 in Nature Astronomy that data fortuitously collected by MESSENGER reveals a sudden rise in nitrogen concentrations at about 30 miles above Venus' surface, demonstrating the planet's atmosphere isn't uniformly mixed, as expected. That finding upends an understanding about Venus' atmosphere that has prevailed for decades. The story started...

As federal lawmakers continue to discuss stimulus packages to help the country cope with the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has urged President Donald Trump to include emergency aid for cities — warning that a failure to do so could force municipal governments to cut vital services and lay off scores of employees. In a letter sent to the White House on Friday, Kenney said that cities were incurring “extraordinary expenditures” to respond to the health crisis while also experiencing a sharp decline in tax revenues, with most businesses closed and consumers slowing their spending

The election of Barack Obama in 2008 was a short-lived victory for the Democrat party. He turned out to be a huge red flag. He infuriated the conservative base and destroyed the Democrat’s advantages in the Senate, the House, and across a wide expanse of state level offices. During his time in the White House Barack Obama enjoyed approval ratings that were solid even as he preached the gospel of accepting America’s decline as a world power. Nevertheless, in the absence of a way to measure his true popularity we can only look back at his endorsements to gauge how...

Michael Moore is out with a new film the media will hype but most Americans will never see. This speaks well of the latter and poorly of the former. In a Reuters story promoting Moore's latest, he admits: Moore said that he, like many people, thought electric cars were a good idea, “but I didn’t really think about where is the electricity coming from?” That's awesome. Moore has been going around for decades promoting politicians and policies that would basically wreck the economy. He wanted a coronavirus-level economic tsunami before we'd ever heard of Wuhan and its bats. But he had no...

Guttenberg told the audience at a virtual town hall Monday that Trump was killing Americans by allowing gun stores to remain open, pointing to federal guidelines that labeled gun businesses "essential." . . . "You have crowds showing up around these gun stores not only spreading coronavirus, but they're buying weapons, or they're buying ammunition," he said. "And many of them are prohibited purchasers of weapons, or they already have the weapon, and now they're running out and buying the ammunition to use it."

As Congress mulls a fourth phase of coronavirus stimulus, it is time for them to include relief aimed at safeguarding the family — both through the duration of this crisis and into the future. Specifically, Congress should pass the bipartisan paid family leave bill introduced late last year by Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) that would allow every family the ability to receive a $5,000 “baby bonus” advance on their Child Tax Credit upon the birth or adoption of a child. This pandemic has imposed serious financial obstacles on millions of families across the country. Many...

There's only one winnable choice for Joe Biden's vice president pick: "The woman in Michigan," as our incumbent President calls Gretchen Whitmer. What the American people -- not to mention the world -- want and need in these dangerous times is a person who, if necessary, can slip seamlessly into the job of president amidst a global crisis. That has to mean a governor rather than a senator. No senator (with the possible exception of Mitt Romney), has the managerial chops to step in and assume control on a moment's notice of the world's largest corporation: the US government, currently...

The full quote, as provided in a pool report: I believe, because, sort of, the blinders have been taken off, because of this COVID crisis, I think people are realizing, “My Lord. Look at what is possible. Look at the institutional changes we can make – without us becoming a ‘socialist country,’ or any of that malarkey – that we can make to provide the opportunities to change the institutional drawbacks ...” from education, all the way through to all the other things we talked about. And if I sound like I’m excited, I am, because I really think, think...

Our best chance at saving America is to open America. Now. Certainly, states like New York and New Jersey, must open at a slower pace than Minnesota and Iowa. But we must ground all decisions in reason and science—or politicians inebriated by power will gain more dominance by peddling fear. “Safer at home!” is chanted on social media by the Communist Party of China’s co-conspirator—the World Health Organization (WHO)—and many Americans are buying the lie—hook, line and sinker. Fear (the most irrational motivator) is causing Americans to relinquish the ability to think for themselves, or to face the genuine virus...

Two of the greatest goal-scorers in NHL history will square off in the digital sphere this Wednesday when Wayne Gretzky battles Alex Ovechkin in a best-of-three competition on EA Sports’ NHL 20 game on XBox. “The Great One vs. The Great Eight Showcase” is a fundraiser, with proceeds going to the Edmonton Food Bank and Monumental Sports and Entertainment Foundation’s ‘Feeding the Frontlines’ fund, which provides meals to heroes in the medical community. “This has been an unbelievably exciting opportunity for us to work on,” said MSE’s senior vice president of strategic initiatives, Zach Leonsis. “Not only are the proceeds...

WASHINGTON, April 21 (Reuters) - Harvard University said it plans to keep an $8.6 million grant it received as part of a stimulus package to blunt the economic impact of the coronavirus lockdown, contradicting U.S. President Donald Trump who pledged the university would return it. Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Trump pointed to the institution's ample endowment - worth nearly $41 billion - as the reason why it should hand over the money. "Harvard is going to pay back the money and they shouldn't be taking it," Trump said, adding that Harvard has one of the largest endowments...

EVERETT, Wash. -- Snohomish County Sheriff Adam Fortney has become the latest sheriff in Washington to voice his displeasure at the state's current "Stay at Home" orders amid the COVID-19 outbreak and reiterated his vow not to enforce it. Fortney took to Facebook late Monday night in a several-paragraph statement questioning Gov. Jay Inslee's plans amid what Fortney called were "drastic measures as the suspension of constitutional rights." While acknowledging that the COVID-19 outbreak is "a very serious issue and the appropriate precautions need to be taken to protect our most vulnerable populations," Fortney stated he's concerned about small businesses...

Gov. Kevin Stitt and Attorney General Mike Hunter tangled Tuesday over tribal gaming compacts, signed in an elaborate ceremony earlier in the day, that authorize the Comanche and Otoe-Missouria tribal governments to begin sports betting and banked table games such as true blackjack. Stitt hailed the agreements as a breakthrough in tribal gaming negotiations, but Hunter said the governor exceeded his powers.
