As federal lawmakers continue to discuss stimulus packages to help the country cope with the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has urged President Donald Trump to include emergency aid for cities warning that a failure to do so could force municipal governments to cut vital services and lay off scores of employees.
In a letter sent to the White House on Friday, Kenney said that cities were incurring extraordinary expenditures to respond to the health crisis while also experiencing a sharp decline in tax revenues, with most businesses closed and consumers slowing their spending

Call your gov ‘mare’. Start there.
Bite Me.
NO, you were broke before the virus - the Fed gov helped much more than they should have, deal with your financial issues yourself.
Provide a quarantine to stop the spread.
NOPE, but maybe a infrastructure bill will help, if we also include payroll tax reductions.
The cities have income. They might have less but they never run out.
They should be way down the list of priority. Until every small business owner has relief, no other entity should get funding.
*** Philly Metro Ping ***
don't threaten Trump with a good time...
I don’t think any city or county deserves anything, most public employee’s aren’t needed. I also believe just about everything should be contracted out to private business. Lawyers should be brushing up on chapter 9 right now, a whole lot of cities and counties are poised to go bankrupt pretty quickly, just like the CITIZENS THEY BANKRUPTED!!!
Yuck Fou, ahole.
Damned Liberals.
Nobody told me I didn’t have to pay property tax. Which I did right on time.
If they’re down on sales tax, maybe that’s a reason to get real and start coming up with a re-open plan that protects people and allows the cities to collect their vigorish?
I mean we wouldn’t want unionized municipal “workers” to miss out on their patronage payments, especially in a dump like Philly where it’s the lifeblood of their crooked economy.
The shutdowns have been imposed by state and local governments. Therefore the damage to them is self inflicted. It would be immoral to bail them out.
Free-spending, single-party, progressive- leftist cities and states WILL get bailed out.
Funding for “cities”, my @$$.
Funding for public employee pensions and health bennies.
It’s a scam to get the Feds to fix the local crooked pension schemes. Forget about it. Let them fix their own mess.
State, city and county employees should not have to take a bite out of the shit sandwich everyone else has to. They are special.
Raise your own money. Stay TF out of my pockets.
Some of these municipalities need to cut their bloated budgets. The federal government should not be bailing out some of these liberal cities and states....they need to cut their spending and get their businesses back in business!!!
