  • Corona "age at death" in Georgia - interesting

I live in Carroll County, GA, about 35 miles west of Atlanta. The state of GA publishes the age, sex and whether or not there were underlying conditions for every one of the 139 deaths in GA (as of yesterday). I ran a spreadsheet on this data and discovered the following: Average age at death was 69.8 years. About 60% male, 40% female. Of the 139 deaths, 95 had underlying conditions, 4 had no underlying conditions, and 44 were "unknown". How about your state?

Epidemiologists are warning that unless the federal government overhauls its pandemic response to ensure a national system for testing, the U.S. could find itself in a vicious cycle of sporadic lockdowns until scientists find a treatment or vaccine for the coronavirus. A scenario like that would lessen the chances of a quick, V-shaped economic rebound that analysts are hoping for and instead prolong the recession and subsequent recovery, damaging household finances for years to come. “The economic damage associated with the outbreak is nonlinear,” S&P Global said in a report this week. “That means, for example, that if containment takes...

he federal government has announced its new rules to finalize fuel consumption and emissions standards; they're in effect for the 2021–2026 model years. Fuel consumption and emissions must be reduced by 1.5 percent each year, whereas the original proposal froze the standards at 2020 levels. California and other states continue to wage a lengthy legal battle to overturn it.

Vice President Mike Pence defended President Trump’s handling of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic Wednesday, claiming that “I don’t believe the president has ever belittled the threat of the coronavirus” in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. Despite banning Chinese nationals from entering the country and declaring a public health emergency at the end of January, Trump and his administration have sent mixed signals on the virus. The president has implied that the outbreak was similar in potency to the common flu and telling CNBC in January that “we have it totally under control.” In February, he claimed that, “within a...

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Navy is expected to relieve the commander of the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, who wrote a scathing letter that leaked to the public asking the Navy for stronger measures to control a coronavirus outbreak onboard, U.S. officials told Reuters on Thursday. The officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Captain Brett Crozier was being relieved not because he wrote the letter and sent it up through the chain of command but because the Navy believes he leaked it to the media. One of the officials said a formal announcement could be made as early as Thursday.

On Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Verma echoed Vice President Mike Pence’s belief that the United States could see an improvement in the fight against the spread of the virus by early summer. She said the task force is “hopeful” the country will be “in a different place” by June. “Well, what I’m optimistic about is just watching Americans in everyday life trying to adhere to 30 days to slow the spread,” Verma told host Ed Henry. “That’s what’s going to make the difference here. We want to reduce the number of people that get sick. We want to reduce...

Rural America is experiencing 'disaster gentrification' as wealthy Covid-19 evacuees from the hotspot cities flock to the relative safety of picturesque towns. In Blaine County Idaho, home to Sun Valley ski resort, more than half of the houses are rental properties. As of yesterday 228 had tested positive for the disease, around 10 percent of its population. 'People come here from all over the world,' ER doctor Brent Russell told the Idaho Statesman. 'When I'm in the ER, I get people from New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Seattle. Every week there's people from those places.

The two most non-essential professions on the planet right now are that of Big Climate alarmist and his attorney in a vanity lawsuit. Yet Michael E Mann, inventor of the global-warming "hockey stick", and his counsel John Williams are disinclined to let their lousy eight-year-old defamation suit against me shelter in place for a couple of months, and the other day they made a surprise move. By which I mean a deranged and desperate move. Before we get to that, let me make a general observation: You'll have noticed that millions of people around the world are what one might...

Former Vice President Joe Biden said on Thursday that his aides are working to set up a call between him and President Trump to discuss the U.S. response to the coronavirus pandemic. Biden offered earlier this week to speak with Trump about the government’s strategy to combat the coronavirus outbreak. The president told reporters on Wednesday that he would “absolutely take his call.” “I’m happy to hear he’ll take my call,” Biden said in a virtual briefing with reporters on Thursday. “My team is working with him to set such a call up.” Biden and Trump’s willingness to speak on...

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), while announcing a statewide stay-at-home order, said Wednesday that he only recently became aware the coronavirus could be spread by asymptomatic people. "The reason I'm taking this action, like I've continued to tell people, I'm following the data, I'm following the advice of Dr. [Kathleen] Toomey," Kemp said in response to a reporter's question at a press conference announcing the order.

Clark County Manager Yolanda King has suspended union contracts for some 9,000 employees, including medical workers at University Medical Center. The move, which union leaders say was unprecedented and came without warning Tuesday, followed a March 15 emergency declaration by the county. In an email sent to county employees Wednesday evening, King wrote that the contracts would remain suspended through the duration of the emergency, which was spurred by the new coronavirus outbreak.

As NRL News Today readers are keenly aware, pro-abortionists are incensed that in prioritizing their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, governors in a number of states have issued orders that have properly concluded that elective—elective with a capital “E”—abortions are not “essential medical care.” To Planned Parenthood, NARAL, etc. every abortion is, by definition, essential. Thus, any governor, such as Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who “justly prioritizes supplies and personal protective equipment for the medical professionals in need” (as Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said), must be demonized. Enter Planned Parenthood’s acting president and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson. McGill Johnson...

The IMHE model is using New York and New Jersey data and applying it to the rest of the US. It predicted that over 121,000 Americans would be hospitalized yesterday (Wednesday) over the Coronavirus, Sean Davis of The Federalist said. The actual number? 31,142. For example, the IMHE model predicted 1,716 people in Texas would be hospitalized yesterday from the Coronavirus, but the actual number of Texans hospitalized is 196. In Georgia, the IMHE model predicted that as of yesterday, 2,777 people would have been hospitalized due to the Coronavirus. The actual number of people hospitalized in Georgia? 952. In...
