An estimated 80,000 Americans died of flu and its complications last winter, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) blocked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) attempt to set up a Monday morning vote on the stimulus package, effectively delaying the vote until the afternoon.
