U.S. stock futures opened sharply lower on Sunday night as Wall Street waits on Washington to agree to an economic stimulus and rescue plan to combat the giant economic blow from the coronavirus outbreak. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell more than 900 points, or 5%, to hit their “limit down” level. S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures were also down around 5%. Downside limits to futures contracts are implemented to ensure orderly market behavior. U.S. crude futures also slid by more than 4%, adding to last week’s massive losses. Futures could be highly volatile as headlines come out of...

“Lost” star Daniel Dae Kim believes the anti-malarial drug touted by President Trump was the “secret weapon” in his recovery from the coronavirus. The 51-year-old actor praised hydroxychloroquine as being “critical” in the treatment that has left him now “practically back to normal” just days after confirming he had been infected. “Yes, this is the drug that the President mentioned the other day,” Kim said in an Instagram video Saturday, noting that Dr. Anthony Fauci had cautioned that supposed success stories were “only based on personal accounts.”

Disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has tested positive for the coronavirus in prison — and most likely contracted the disease at Rikers Island, an official briefed on the matter told The Post on Sunday. Weinstein, 68, is being held in isolation at the Wende Correctional Facility near Buffalo, where he tested positive on Saturday, the official said. The state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision wouldn’t confirm or deny Weinstein’s condition, citing federal health-care privacy law, but said that two inmates at Wende had the coronavirus.

As the United States enters a critical phase in fighting the coronavirus pandemic, the country’s leading public health agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, appears to be on the sidelines, with its messages increasingly disrupted or overtaken by the White House. Neither CDC Director Robert Redfield nor Anne Schuchat — the principal deputy director who has played key roles in the agency’s emergency responses stretching back two decades, including the 2009 influenza pandemic — have appeared on the podium during White House briefings by the coronavirus task force for more than a week.

Israel: Muslim MK who called jihad murderer a “hero” vows to divest Israel “of its Jewish and Zionist existence” MAR 22, 2020 3:00 PM BY ROBERT SPENCER Heba Yazbak would doubtless have no problem with Israel becoming an Islamic state. Her statements reveal the deceptiveness of the Palestinian Authority’s recognition of Israel’s right to exist. The PA’s recognition of Israel is a sham anyway, a semantic trick. The PA has never recognized Israel as a Jewish state. “We will never recognize the Jewishness of the state of Israel,” said Mahmoud Abbas in 2014. The PA recognizes Israel as having a...

Farmers markets are still considered an essential business in California, but big safety changes have been mandated. "I've been coming every Saturday for the past 38 years. I don't buy fruits and vegetables anywhere but the farmers market, never will," Ruth Vivenzi, a farmers market shopper. The California Department of Food and Agriculture said people won't have to venture elsewhere for local produce shopping. It's allowing farmers markets to stay open during the COVID-19 pandemic because they provide essentials, but that also means they have to make some changes while operating. The Aptos farmers market started making those changes Saturday....
  • Turmeric is Being Touted as an Effective Herb to Keep Coronavirus at Bay

Turmeric, or curcumin, is being advocated by some medical experts for reducing lung inflammation amid the rising COVID-19 cases in India. The virus is especially known to attack the respiratory system. Turmeric is being touted as the only way to keep inflammation in your body low so that you have a better chance of fighting the coronavirus infection. In view of the current COVID-19 epidemic and the panic around it, medical experts have a few suggestions besides washing hands, not being in crowded spaces, etc., on how to boost the immune system and possibly minimize the symptoms as there is...

Stripped of the panic, SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 — the new betacoronavirus that originated in China, and the disease the virus caused — are really fascinating, an exciting and important scientific detective story that someone, someday, will get to tell without ritualized stomping by various political factions. Probably not today, but someday. Just in passing, let's make it easy for the Chinese propaganda arms, both in China and in New York, and note that this is, indeed, a virus from China. Specifically, it's a virus that originated in 中华人民共和国湖北省武汉市 (The City of Wuhan, the province of Hubei, in the People's Republic...

St. Louis Fed chair says US unemployment rate could hit 30 percent Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President James Bullard said that the U.S. unemployment rate could reach 30 percent in the second quarter because of the coronavirus pandemic, Bloomberg News reported Sunday. Bullard also said a 50 percent reduction in gross domestic product is possible in the second quarter given the shutdown of business throughout much of the country, which is only expected to increase. He suggested this would all result in a $2.5 trillion loss in income, and that a huge stimulus would be needed to make...

Eeek! Trump's handling of the coronavirus crises is getting increasingly positive reviews from the public according to the poll numbers. Solution? The media must stop live broadcasting President Trump's coronavirus briefings. The Washington Post media columnist, Margaret Sullivan, doesn't give those positive poll numbers as the reason for her now wanting the media to stop live broadcasting of the briefings but what is the possibilty that is not her motivation? How about somewhere between nil and none? Sullivan's angry tirade against those briefings appeared on Saturday in "The media must stop live-broadcasting Trump’s dangerous, destructive coronavirus briefings."

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has a message about the coronavirus pandemic: It’s like a scary movie. In an apparent attempt to sooth a nervous public, Justice, in a statewide address Saturday night, offered a rambling response to the virus in which he declined to order a broad lockdown, issued dire warnings about New York state, urged people to follow existing protocols and admitted that perhaps his speech could have waited until Monday. “It’s like we’re all lost in a movie that we can’t relate to in any way,” he said during the roughly 25-minute address that left many on...

Wuhan Corona Virus (COVID19) is a legitimate health concern, but it is no cause for panic or irrational hysteria. Yes, follow commonsense practices for hygiene, take care of yourself. Seek medical help if necessary. Do NOT surrender to fear. Fear is our biggest enemy. At the moment in the U.S., we have 32,356 Coronavirus cases, 414 deaths and 178 recovered.
