Despite having had more time to prepare, most authorities in the US and EU are responding to the coronavirus spread with such ineffectual and wrong-minded measures that they're just making a terrible situation worse. In today's video, Chris walks through the 'gold standard' process for how a country should act to contain a pandemic like this. How many countries come anywhere close to this standard? Depressingly few. And he shows case after case after case of authorities -- at both the national and local levels -- pushing policies that endanger the public. Why is the official response to such a...

I'm a doctor and an Infectious Diseases Specialist. I've been at this for more than 20 years seeing sick patients on a daily basis. I have worked in inner city hospitals and in the poorest slums of Africa. HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis,TB, SARS, Measles, Shingles, Whooping cough, Diphtheria...there is little I haven't been exposed to in my profession. And with notable exception of SARS, very little has left me feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed or downright scared. I am not scared of Covid-19. I am concerned about the implications of a novel infectious agent that has spread the world over and continues to find...

Former Vice President Joe Biden won the Mississippi primary on Tuesday, the latest in his string of victories in the deep south, where black voters have turned out in big numbers to support his campaign. News outlets called the victory for Biden over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) as soon as polls closed. Biden’s final margin of victory is not known yet, but polls showed him up by 50 points heading into Election Day, so he’ll likely win a strong majority of the 36 delegates up for grabs. Sanders cancelled a planned event in Mississippi last week, deciding instead that his...

There's a lot of "hypocrisy" within the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and from media partners hosting the presidential debates when it comes to giving female politicians a fair shot, 2020 presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said Monday night. In an interview on "Fox News @ Night" with host Shannon Bream, Gabbard, D-Hawaii, said that "American voters have a right" to ask questions about the DNC and their partners' methods when making the rules for the debates. **SNIP** "You hear a lot of talk. We just celebrated International Women's Day and the progress that women are making around the world," Gabbard...

When the young are involved, whether it is humans or animals mothers usually let out the crazy side of themselves and do everything to protect their babies. The urge to save them is greater than the urge to save their own lives. Research has established a reason behind this act lies in the love hormone, Oxytocin during an experiment with rats. This hormone drives a mother to protect her young ones. It also plays a role in social interaction and breastfeeding. The results gave evidence that when mothers are protecting their young, it is oxytocin that triggered this defense mechanism....

Today, President Donald J. Trump sent his principles for drug pricing reform to Capitol Hill. The President’s principles and vision are policies that already have bipartisan support and would bring lasting relief from incredibly high drug prices for America’s seniors. President Trump’s bold leadership lowered drug prices last year for the first time in almost 50 years and has increased access to more affordable drugs for millions of Americans. As the President called for in his State of the Union address, the time is now for Congress to build on that progress, set aside partisan pandering, and work with this White...

Roosevelt Room 11:43 A.M. EDT THE PRESIDENT: Well, thank you very much. We’re meeting with the top executives of the health insurance companies, the biggest companies in our country — probably the biggest companies in our country, probably the biggest companies in the world. I can’t imagine being much bigger. But these are the great — the great health insurance companies. And I think tremendous progress is being made. They’re willing to do things for the people and their customers and probably, in a true sense, beyond their customers that normally I don’t think they’d be doing. And so I...

How did the political left squander the opportunity that was the 2020 primary campaign? The Trump presidency has created tremendous energy among progressives. More than half of Democratic voters now identify as liberal. Most favor “Medicare for all.” A growing number are unhappy with American capitalism. This year’s campaign offered the prospect of transformational change, with a Democratic nominee who was more liberal than any in more than a half-century. Instead, the nominee now seems likely to be a moderate white grandfather who first ran for president more than 30 years ago and whose campaign promises a return to normalcy....
