Just when we thought it was safe to assume a reliable supply of oil due to the miracle of fracking, liberals have come up with a new excuse to shift from fossil fuels to renewables.  They've discovered — as everyone invested in oil has known since before the early 2000s — that fracked wells are frontloaded, producing their largest return in the first year or two after completion. The most productive fields at present are in the Permian Basin of West Texas.  So it's not surprising to find analysts bemoaning "peak Permian," as Julian Lee wrote in a Jan. 26 Bloomberg...

The most basic rule of bear hunting is: “If you are going to shoot a bear, don’t miss.” Or, as Ralph Waldo Emerson put it, “When you strike at a king, you must kill him.” Well, Democrats threw every single thing they could think up at President Trump. And missed. They failed to kill him. Or even bruise or scuff him. They failed to so much as tussle his hair. Today, he is stronger than he has ever been — stronger than the day he got elected, stronger than the day he took office. After all, on both of those...

During a Tuesday interview that aired on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden suggested Mickey Mouse could “have a shot” against President Donald Trump. MSNBC’s Willie Geist asked the former vice president as part of the network’s New Hampshire primary coverage if he agreed with Democratic strategist James Carville’s assertion that the Democrats will give Trump four more years if they nominate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Back when the Oscars had some class and largely stayed away from politics. (Bob Hope loved political jokes but they were never mean and he took shots at both parties.) Sadly, today the Oscars has become the greatest collection of flakes outside of the cereal aisle at the supermarket.

Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A federal judge on Tuesday approved a bid by T-Mobile to merge with competitor Sprint in a combination of the nation's third- and fourth-largest wireless carriers. Judge Victor Marrero of U.S. District Court in Manhattan ruled against 13 state attorneys general who sought to block the $26 billion deal as potentially harmful to consumers. They sued in June 2019, even before the merger was approved by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission. The companies argued their merger was needed to compete against the biggest wireless carriers, AT&T and Verizon, and to complete...

This Advisor from Inland Manufacturing is modeled after the M1 carbines used during the Vietnam war for clearing the matrix of tunnels and engaging in extreme close quarters. The "Advisor," Inland’s M1 pistol, features many of the same characteristics of their original carbines and is modeled after the modified M1 carbines that were a popular conversion made by US Military advisors during the Vietnam Era. These "Military Advisors" found that the compact and reliable M1 carbine could be made even more suitable for their specific missions by cutting the barrels down to pistol lengths and using either a cut down...

President disapproves of alliance and made decision after ally’s visa was rescinded Rodrigo Duterte, the president of the Philippines, has given formal notice to the US of his decision to scrap a bilateral agreement covering visiting American troops, following through on repeated threats to downgrade the defence alliance. The visiting forces agreement (VFA), signed in 1998, accords legal status to thousands of American troops rotated in the country for humanitarian assistance and military exercises, dozens of which take place annually. Duterte, who has made no secret of his grudge with the US and his disdain for his country’s close military...

In June 2018, President Trump directed the Department of Defense to “begin the process necessary to establish a space force as the sixth branch of the armed forces.” The reason for a space force is simple: space is the strategic high ground from which all future wars will be fought. If we do not master space, our nation will become indefensible. Since that time, entrenched bureaucrats and military leaders across the Department of Defense, especially in the Air Force, have been resisting the President’s directive in every way they can. And this December, although Congress voted to approve a Space...

Subtitle: The bill sought to block physicians from providing puberty blockers and gender confirmation surgery to transgender children under 16. The South Dakota Legislature on Monday effectively killed House Bill 1057, which sought to block physicians in the state from providing puberty blockers and gender confirmation surgery to transgender children under 16. By a 5-2 vote, the state Senate Health and Human Services Committee sent the bill “to the 41st day,” which means a bill has been effectively killed because the state’s part-time Legislature has only 40 working days. "It's gone," Quinncy Parke, 17, who is transgender and testified against...

World history will record that the period between the 7th of January and the 7th of February 2020 will be among the most consequential 31 days in the past 25 years. In the United States this same period will also be remembered for the first stages of the precipitous downfall of the Democratic Party and the vindication of Donald Trump and his America First doctrine. In China on the 7th of January the authorities “announced they had identified a new virus, according to the WHO. The novel virus was named 2019-nCoV and was identified as belonging to the coronavirus family.”...

By Michael Tomasky thedailybeast.com — OUR PLATFORM AIN’T STRONGIt’s not just Sanders and the electability question. The whole field, while all of them seem like good, dedicated people, has disappointed. BEAST INSIDENew Hampshire is voting. I remember when this used to be an exciting day. Even if my candidate didn’t win, which he (they were all men) usually didn’t, I loved both the reliable rituals and the unexpected little accidents. New Hampshire is voting. Michael Bloomberg representatives have asked the Aspen Institute not to distribute footage of his recent appearance in Aspen, where the three-term New York City mayor made pointed comments concerning minorities and gun control. Both the Institute and GrassRoots TV, the organization that filmed the event, confirmed Thursday that they will not broadcast the footage online or on television as planned. “We basically honor the wishes of our speakers, and Mayor Bloomberg preferred that we not use the video for broadcast,” the Institute’s chief external affairs officer Jim Spiegelman wrote in an email Friday. “He did not give a reason nor...

PARIS (Reuters) - Germany has reported an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu virus in a backyard in the southwestern part of the country, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) said on Monday. The virus killed 44 birds out of a flock of 69 in Bretzfeld, in the Baden-Wurttemberg region, the Paris-based OIE said, citing a report from Germany’s food and agriculture ministry. “All poultry and captive birds have been culled and safely disposed of on Feb. 7, 2020. No poultry, poultry products or captive birds have been dispatched,” it said in the report.

June may be more famous for nuptials, especially outdoor ceremonies. However, February is hands-down the most marriage-and-romance-centric month. It’s National Wedding Month, has National Marriage Week (Feb. 7-14), and, of course, Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14). So, break out the roses and chocolate. Valentine’s Day is named after a Christian saint who was most probably martyred on Feb. 14, 269 A.D. for marrying Christian couples in defiance of a Roman government edict, and for assisting persecuted Christians. Today, as with many traditions in Western culture that had a Christian origin, Valentine’s Day has broadened into a secular festivity, boosted by major...

A guest on Todd's MSNBC show this evening was University of New Hampshire Professor Dante Scala. As they discussed the possibility of mediocre turnout, Scala described the Dem contenders as "B-level," and Todd seconded that emotion. DANTE SCALA: I think that the problem is that Democrats here in New Hampshire, when all is said and done, they're saying this looks like a B-level field of candidates.CHUCK TODD: Dante just used the, you actually just used the perfect, B-level, Jason . . . It feels like there’s no star.Get the rest of the story and view the video here.
