Was this a remark by a CNN commentator, or a floor speech by Sen. John Avlon (D-NY)? You'd be forgiven for being confused. On CNN's New Day this morning, "senior political commentator" Avlon engaged in some hysterical hyperbole. He implied that the "republic" would literally be lost if Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) voted against allowing witnesses in the impeachment trial. [snip] "No. And so I think a lot is going to be determined by Lamar Alexander. Sort of, you know, will the headline be, Lamar Alexander saves the republic, or saves the Republican party?"Get the rest of the story and...

A Utah state lawmaker introduced a bill that would allow voters to recall a sitting U.S. senator before his or her six-year term ends. Republican Rep. Tim Quinn, 56, claimed that the bill had nothing to do with either of the state's current senators, Mike Lee and Mitt Romney, but that he believed the policy was important given the length of a senator’s term.

Zinc supplements can significantly inhibit the proliferation of esophageal cancer cells, according to a new study co-authored by a University of Texas at Arlington researcher. Previous studies had shown that zinc is essential for maintaining human health and protects the esophagus from cancer. However, it has never been fully understood why zinc has the ability to prevent cancer in the esophagus. In this study, a team led by Zui Pan, an associate professor of nursing at UTA's College of Nursing and Health Innovation and a noted esophageal cancer researcher, discovered that zinc selectively halts the growth of cancer cells but...

All hell broke loose at the Garden on Wednesday night, as the Knicks finally lost their cool after a season full of losing. The evening culminated with the worst possible Garden chant to owner James Dolan’s ears: “Sell the team.’’ With 48 seconds left in a 127-106 disgrace to the Grizzlies, starting point guard Elfrid Payton pushed down Jae Crowder after Crowder — with his team up by 18 points — stole a lazy pass in the backcourt from Julius Randle, took the ball to the right corner and flung up a 3-pointer as an incensed Payton pushed him in...

Michael Bloomberg is using his $10 million Super Bowl ad to highlight the work he has done to combat gun violence and enact stricter gun control laws. The ad will air Sunday as counter-programming to President Donald Trump's ad spot and his pre-game interview with Sean Hannity on FOX. The combatting ads will both air for 60 seconds, but instead of Bloomberg unveiling an attack ad, like has been reported, the spot will feature a mother who lost her son to gun violence. The focus underscores the former Republican New York City mayor's efforts to contrast himself with Trump.

Forget that embarrassing CNN segment with Don Lemon, “Republican political strategist” Rick Wilson and contributor Wajahat Ali laughing like hyenas over Wilson’s insulting “Boomer Rube” comment against Trump supporters. MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough decided it was a good idea to tout an attack ad against Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ) made by the Wilson-led anti-Trump group The Lincoln Project just three days later. The Lincoln Project is a PAC created by anti-Trump Republican George Conway and advised by fellow anti-Trumpers Rick Wilson, John Weaver and Steve Schmidt.

This nearly universally held belief that even the most skeptical of us tend to believe is “warming by recollection.” Virtually every person from snowy climes claims that winters today are nothing like they were when they were a child. This recollection reinforces the thought that we are experiencing global warming within our own lifetime. Never mind that the slight warming of ~0.6 oF (0.3 oC) that a typical 45-year-old may have experienced since that big snowfall when he was five years old is much too slight to be recognizable by anyone. Before I looked at the actual data on the...

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday that it has confirmed the first case of the coronavirus spreading from one person to another in the United States. CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield told reporters Thursday that the latest case is the second reported in Chicago and is the spouse of the person who was the first to be diagnosed in the city. “I’m gonna have a secretary of education that this young trans person interviews on my behalf,” Warren said. “And only if this person believes that our secretary of education nominee is someone who is committed to creating a welcoming environment, a safe environment, and a full educational curriculum for everyone, will that person actually be advanced to be secretary of education.”

God exalted Christ "far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet" (Eph. 1:21-22). Now and forever Christ is the Supreme One! Yesterday we saw that Christ has both an exalted name and an exalted, authoritative position. In verses 21-22 Paul elaborates on the extent of Christ's authority, which is "far above all rule and authority and power and dominion." "Rule," "authority," "power," and "dominion" are designations for angelic beings, whether...

A week after being roasted for tweeting a fake conversation between Republican senators, CNN political commentator and former Clinton White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart claimed Wednesday night during the Senate trial’s dinner break that an argument used by Trump legal team member Alan Dershowitz was “un-American” and akin to those used by “authoritarian people” to justify “genocide.” OutFront host Erin Burnett asked Lockhart what he made of Dershowitz’s claim that a presidential action done “in the national interest...cannot be a quid pro quo that results in impeachment.” Without hesitation, Lockhart stated that while he’s “worked on about a dozen...

(See timeline below). In response, the DOJ immediately stepped in with a letter to the judge. In this letter the DOJ claimed the FBI had met its burden and its search would have located emails “of...

In a 2010 interview with Andrew Napolitano on Fox Business Channel, former White House National Security Adviser John Bolton stated that he would have no problem lying to the public if he thought it was necessary to protect national security.
