As you review this story keep in the back of your mind that U.S. DC Attorney Jessie Liu has been recently moved to head the Financial Crimes Division of the Treasury Department. CTH noted last year when John Fry, an intelligence analyst with the IRS’s law enforcement arm, was arrested that something more was happening in the background of his case and the DOJ case against Natalie Sours-Edwards. Today Ms. Sours-Edwards pleads guilty to downloading & distributing the financial records of people connected to the Trump orbit. You might remember back in May 2018 when sketchy porn lawyer Michael Avenetti...

GENEVA - There may have been limited human-to-human transmission of a new coronavirus in China within families, and it is possible there could be a wider outbreak, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause infections ranging from the common cold to SARS. A Chinese woman has been quarantined in Thailand with a mystery strain of coronavirus, Thai authorities said on Monday, the first time the virus has been detected outside China. In all, 41 cases of pneumonia have been reported in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, which preliminary...

Tardigrades are known for their remarkable resiliency. The tiny organisms are capable of withstanding extreme conditions, but new research suggests they're not immune to the effects of global warming. Tardigrades, sometimes called water bears or moss piglets, are microscopic invertebrates with barrel-shaped bodies and four pairs of legs. The micro-animals are found in a variety of environs, including marine, freshwater and terrestrial micro-habitats, and feed on plant cells, algae and other small invertebrates. To measure the impacts of global warming on tardigrades, scientists exposed dozens of water bears to elevated temperatures in the lab. "The specimens used in this study...

Paris - New climate models show carbon dioxide is a more potent greenhouse gas than previously understood, a finding that could push the Paris treaty goals for capping global warming out of reach, scientists have told AFP. Developed in parallel by separate teams in half-a-dozen countries, the models -- which will underpin revised UN temperature projections next year -- suggest scientists have for decades consistently underestimated the warming potential of CO2. Vastly more data and computing power has become available since the current Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) projections were finalised in 2013. "We have better models now," Olivier...

The House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday announced that it plans to investigate the Department of Homeland Security's Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), which encourages migrants from Central America to seek asylum in Mexico rather than in the U.S. News of the letter comes just hours after Fox News reported that the Trump administration has begun sending Mexican migrants from non-border states on flights to central Mexico, a policy that reportedly began last month. DHS officials told the news outlet that the agency could fly two flights a week totaling 250 migrants per week under the program. Dozens of Senate Democrats wrote...

There certainly hasn't been a lack of seismic activity so far in 2020. Just a few days ago, I wrote about the horrific earthquake swarm that Puerto Rico is currently experiencing. More than 1,000 earthquakes have rattled Puerto Rico so far, and as you will see below, it was just hit by another very large earthquake. But right now volcanic eruptions have taken center stage. In particular, a massive eruption in the Philippines is making headlines all over the world, but what most people don't realize is that several other volcanoes have also blown their tops in spectacular fashion within...

Did Joe Scarborough just call Elizabeth Warren a liar on her claim that Bernie Sanders told her "a woman can't win?" Viewing Joe's skeptical expression on Tuesday's Morning Joe in the screencap, and listening to his words, the conclusion over this unproven CNN scoop would appear to be: yeah, he did! At the very least, Scarborough expressed deep skepticism over Warren's version of events. [snip] Scarborough obviously knew he was wading into deep water, prefacing his remarks by claiming, "I'm not getting on anybody's side." Yeah, right. Joe then proceeded to administer this tomahawk chop to Warren: "Do any of...

I want to talk about the "Trump Revolution" because I don't think there's been proper recognition of the substance and significance of what this president is doing .It's completely different from what we've seen before. It doesn't fit into the establishment's traditional ideological boxes and that's why they waste our time with pointless political games like impeachment. We saw the new approach clearly with Iran. The Democrats, never-Trumpers and their media lackeys lurched wildly from calling Trump weak to branding him a warmonger. \So they can write whatever pompous, self-righteous nonsense they want in The New York Times. The establishment...

Happy New Year, everyone!! Here's hoping 2020 is the best year yet!! President Trump should take the win in the Senate trial without dragging it out, then concentrate on winning the 2020 election with wide coattails, then bide his time as the cases against the various coup plotters wind their way through the justice system. Win the election, hold the senate, take back the house!! And then continue the work of making America great again: Build the wall, enforce the law, deport them all!! End DACA!! End sanctuary cities!! End anchor babies!! Continue cutting regulations, cutting government, cutting spending and...

Liberal billionaire and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg may have just one-upped fellow liberal billionaire Tom Steyer in anti-Trump spending by being willing to burn through an unheard-of amount of money to defeat President Donald Trump.

Presidential contender Sen. Elizabeth Warren said on Tuesday that she would begin to forgive student loan debt on the first day of her administration, using legal tools that would allow her to bypass Congress. The announcement, which comes just weeks before voting begins in the first primary and caucus states, adds urgency to legislation she introduced over the summer to cancel the bulk of the nation’s outstanding student loan debt. That bill, introduced with Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., would forgive up to $50,000 in student debt for individuals with household incomes under $100,000. But Warren wrote in her plan on...

Vermont’s progressive, gun-fearing state legislature commenced its 2020 session on Jan. 7, using its large Democrat majorities in both houses to ramrod a host of ambitious bills down the throats of the citizenry, beginning with an ill-considered “gun bill” which hit the House Judiciary Committee the morning of Jan. 9. The arrogance of this overwrought (and overconfident) cabal is evident to all but themselves. The “Firearms and Domestic Violence Bill” (H 610) is the first of a phalanx of intended assaults on the Bill of Rights. But its proponents forgot something -- the pretense of constitutionality. This bill seeks to...

A new poll released Friday shows the race in Iowa is still anybody’s game with less than four weeks until the first-in-the-nation caucus. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders narrowly leads the pack with 20 percent, according to the new poll conducted by CNN and the Des Moines Register. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren follows behind in a close second, having garnered 17 percent, with former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg earning 16 percent and former Vice President Joe Biden at 15. With a +/-3.7 percent margin of error, however, the race remains in a virtual dead heat without any clear leader.

David Anderson and Francine Graham, the suspects in the Jersey City shooting. The hate mongers behind the deadly Jersey City shooting that left three civilians and a police officer dead were a pair of religious-fanatic lovers who lived together in a van, according to records and neighbors. The killer couple, David N. Michelle Williams averted her eyes to the humanity of her child, a child whose face she could not see. But though she does not know the child, the child is known, as is she. Two celebrities at the Golden Globes this month created quite a stir. One was the talented Ricky Gervais, ruthlessly exposing the bankruptcy and sanctimony of those who were there to celebrate themselves. The other was the talented Michelle Williams, expecting and receiving applause for having aborted her child to become a person on a stage being applauded. We might know more about the private lives of celebrities...

Alvin, Texas— Down in Alvin, it's the talk of the town. The loud boom heard Saturday night was unlike anything the Alvin residents had heard before. But the story gets a bit more bizarre. It wasn't just Alvin. The KHOU 11 newsroom was flooded with reports of the same loud boom all across the viewing area. ALVIN, Texas — Down in Alvin, it's the talk of the town. "It was like boom," said one Alvin resident. "We both jumped up and said what was that. It wasn't someone knocking on the door. Our whole house shook." The loud boom heard...

Becoming the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050 is the greatest challenge and opportunity of our times. To achieve this, the European Commission presented the European Green Deal, the most ambitious package of measures that should enable European citizens and businesses to benefit from sustainable green transition. Measures accompanied with an initial roadmap of key policies range from ambitiously cutting emissions, to investing in cutting-edge research and innovation, to preserving Europe’s natural environment. Supported by investments in green technologies, sustainable solutions and new businesses, the Green Deal can be a new EU growth strategy. Involvement and commitment of the public...

IN GOD’S NAME: Viganò Resists Francis to His Face IN THIS SUNDAY Sermon from South St. Paul, Father uses the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus to discuss the importance and the power of the Name of the Son of God. He explains how St. Peter—the first pope—used that Name to convert thousands in one day. He reminds us that the demons who refuse to speak it are in fact are driven from the possessed by the power of the Name of Jesus. Finally, Father salutes one of the successors of the apostles—Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò—who like Peter before...
