Woman safety is one of the best ways to gauge a country's long-term wealth growth potential, with a correlation of over 90% between historic wealth growth and woman safety levels," a report explained. "This means that wealth growth is boosted by strong levels of woman safety in a country," the report continued. Out of 195 countries, the report said only 58 had reasonably reliable crime statistics. Countries with unreliable crime statistics were excluded from the top five. US President Donald Trump said Sunday that he does not care if Iran agrees to negotiate with the United States. The comments came after his National Security Adviser, Robert O’Brien, suggested Iran would have no choice but to agree to talks. O’Brien, an interview with Fox News, said the Trump administration’s “maximum pressure campaign” was working, adding, “Iran is being choked off, and Iran is going to have no other choice but to come to the table.” In a Twitter post later on Sunday, Trump cited O’Brien’s interview and replied, “Actually, I couldn’t care less if they negotiate. Will be...

President Trump calls his military clash with Iran over a besieged U.S. embassy “the opposite of Benghazi,” and people close to him say it’s impossible to overstate how deeply Mr. Trump was influenced by the fatal 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. facilities in Libya, and by President Obama’s weak response. When Iran-backed forces attacked the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad and set fires to the walls of the compound, Mr. Trump quickly ordered a contingent of Marines to defend the complex. Then he ordered a drone strike in Baghdad that killed Iranian Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, a designated terrorist believed...

On January 12,1904,Henry Ford sets a land-speed record of 91.37 mph on the frozen surface of Michigan’s Lake St. Clair. He was driving a four-wheel vehicle, dubbed the “999,” with a wooden chassis but no body or hood. Ford’s record was broken within a month at Ormond Beach, Florida, by a driver named William K. Vanderbilt; even so, the publicity surrounding Ford’s achievement was valuable to the auto pioneer, who in June of the previous year had incorporated the Ford Motor Company, which would eventually go on to become one of America’s Big Three automakers.

Editor, #################### There may be no better description of the Virginia state government’s ongoing agenda than the old adage, “What you are seeing depends on where you are standing.” For me it all comes down to trust, in this case trusting elected politicians. Decrying Republican politicians is a waste of words as their fecklessness when in the majority led us to this situation. Future scholars will wonder how it was that GOP politicians could walk upright, given that most Homo republicanus were creatures without a spine. On the other hand, Democrat politicians have clear agendas they pursue with relentless commitment....

Home at Last: Church of the Apostles Ready to Reach A New Community Thanks to David Harper, shepherd of 26 years; Nick Braunschneider, our new Joshua; & especially Joe Acanfora, our Moses. During the service of consecration and thanksgiving for Church of the Apostles’ new church home in Fairfax, Virginia last month, I was surprised and filled with joy when I closed my eyes. Remaining behind closed eyelids was the image of the cross that was against the back wall of the chancel. I suddenly remembered how I used to love “seeing” that cross while praying at Church of the...

Safety concerns and a lack of access to menstruation products are among the issues trans and gender-nonconforming people face during "that time of the month." When transgender model and activist Kenny Ethan Jones experienced his first period, he faced both physical and psychological pain. Initially, Jones, who had not yet come out as trans at the time, felt like he was losing control and didn’t understand what was happening to his body. However, one thing was clear: He didn’t feel like himself. “I didn’t believe that having periods would be a part of my lived experience,” Jones told NBC News....

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - The Indian government's win of a long-contested dispute over telecom fees could end up a Pyrrhic victory, as the billions of dollars in levies now owed are seen as burdens too big to bear for two of the country's three main carriers. Vodafone Idea Ltd , India's biggest carrier by user numbers, is widely regarded as most on the ropes, with parent Vodafone Group ( VOD ) calling the situation "critical" after the unit was saddled with about $3.9 billion in fresh payments due. That is the biggest portion of the $13 billion incurred by the...

Sick of “Rachel from customer service?” Tired of those calls about your car’s warranty? Had it up to your eyeballs with the IRS calling about your “2016 income taxes?” This story should bring a tear of joy to your eyes. In Houston federal court on Thursday, the kingpin of an overseas “call center” that scammed thousands of people out of millions of dollars admitted to coordinating a three-year-operation that bilked thousands of people out of millions of dollars, an ending which was lauded by former Attorney General Jeff Sessions as the first time such a takedown had been made. The...

Conservative philosopher and author Sir Roger Scruton has died aged 75. The author of more than 50 books on aesthetics, morality and politics, he was also a government advisor. Supporters hailed him as "the greatest conservative of our age". A statement on his website said he had been fighting cancer for six months and "died peacefully" on Sunday. "His family are hugely proud of him and of all his achievements," it said. Sir Roger was at the centre of controversy last year when he was dismissed from, then reinstated to, an unpaid role as a government housing advisor after criticism...

Speaking at a Manhattan fundraiser, then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton boiled down the 2016 presidential election into a simple scenario. On one side, you had the Trump supporters, the “basket of deplorables,” the “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic - you name it.” And on the other, you had the normal voters: the Democrats. This moment became one of the election’s watersheds. And it inspired a new fervor among President Trump’s base because it confirmed what many voters had long suspected: establishment politicians are elitist, out-of-touch, and negligent. It seems Virginia Democrats didn’t learn from Clinton’s 2016 mistake. The state is...

It's a sad commentary but nine out of ten of these miscreants dressed better than pretty much anyone in my church. The one or two who actually looked down and out, may have legitimately been poor (no welfare back then), and I might have excused them for petty theft.
