A briefing with congressional leaders at the White House on Wednesday ended with insults, a walkout — and a meme. It was the first face-to-face meeting between President Trump and top Democrats since the impeachment inquiry began, and things got heated between the president and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The House had just passed a bipartisan resolution condemning Mr. Trump's abrupt decision to pull troops from Syria, and lawmakers were supposed to be discussing the deteriorating military situation there with the president. But top Democrats left the meeting early. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said the president insulted House Speaker...

Today the big question in Washington is, will Democrats actually impeach a president of the United States without cause, without a crime? Scary, right? But we're told not to worry, because even if House Dems impeach, the GOP will stop it cold in the Senate. So desensitization worked. Just say "impeachment" over and over for three years until the threat that used to set off alarm bells now barely moves the needle. But even though people aren't up in arms, Washington's unholy trinity, (Democrats, media, and the Deep State) don't want their coup to look like a coup, so they gin up plausible...

Five young black men who posted a video of a manager at a Chipotle on Grand Avenue last year that they claimed showed her discriminating against them are now suing the national restaurant chain. In addition to discrimination, the federal lawsuit claims Chipotle engaged in a “smear campaign” against the young men after they posted their video to Twitter. One of the men received an onslaught of death threats and tweets containing racial epithets, the suit says. The group is seeking financial damages from the company to compensate for the “deep humiliation, embarrassment and emotional distress,” they’ve endured because of...

Gett Clean, a manufacturer of cleaning products, protects its margins and improves marketing through Alibaba.com, Gett Clean co-founder Evan Gettinger said at B2B Next 2019 today. Alibaba.com may not always be the first marketplace suppliers in the United States consider for building sales, but one supplier finding success selling through Alibaba is Gett Clean, a manufacturer of cleaning products. As a start-up, Gett Clean realized that a marketplace had to be part of its business model if it was to successfully compete against larger suppliers, as it lacked the resources and sales staff to achieve a global reach. What drew...

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo cracked a tone-deaf joke at the network’s LGBTQ town hall debate Thursday night — sparking uproar on social media and prompting the anchor to issue an apology. Cuomo was welcoming Sen. Kamala Harris onstage in Los Angeles when the 2020 Democratic candidate told him, “My pronouns are she, her, and hers.” “She, her and hers? Mine too,” Cuomo replied with a smile, eliciting audible groans from the audience. “All right,” Harris finally replied, ending an awkward silence. Cuomo was quickly roasted on social media over the gaffe. “Dear @ChrisCuomo, people’s pronouns are not a punchline,” the...

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkey agreed on Thursday to pause its offensive in Syria for five days to let Kurdish forces withdraw from a “safe zone” Ankara had sought to capture, in a deal hailed by Washington but which Turkish leaders cast as a complete victory. The truce was announced by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence after talks in Ankara with Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan, and was swiftly hailed by President Donald Trump, who said it would save “millions of lives”. But if implemented it would achieve all the main objectives Turkey announced when it launched the assault eight days ago: control...

Nigel Farage yesterday attacked Boris Johnson's deal and said that he would rather delay leaving the European Union than accept the Prime Minister's new treaty. The Brexit Party leader also came under fire after attacking Jean-Claude Juncker for saying the EU should not agree to delay the UK's withdrawal from the bloc beyond October 31. Mr. Johnson's deal offers a far harder Brexit than May's deal but falls short of the red lines set by hard Brexiteers like Mr. Farage

Low jobless rates and rising incomes are helping to fatten state coffers across the U.S. Revenue from sales, personal and corporate taxes is on the rise --the best growth since before the Great Recession. States can expect healthy tax revenues for at least the next several quarters as low unemployment continues, incomes slowly rise, inflation increases modestly and higher energy prices generate more income for states with severance taxes. But the outlook for individual states is varied, with several regions facing big challenges. The trade war with China is battering the agriculture industry in the Midwest and the prairie states...

We are living through a phantasmagoric psychodrama generated by the dishonest national political press. . . snip House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff — who is usually lying when his lips aren’t moving and always is when they are — says we will not be hearing from a non-whistleblowing leaker, to give his hearsay evidence of a conversation that any person in the world can read and see has no legal implications whatever. . . snip The Democrats are stuck with this clunker. Maybe Speaker Pelosi wanted to humiliate the young Marxist congresswomen and Mr. Schiff and the porcine Jerry...

On Thursday at her weekly press briefing, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said the American people were “not going to decide” if President Donald Trump should be impeached. When asked about the impeachment timeline, Pelosi said, “I keep saying to people, impeachment is about the truth and the Constitution of the United States. Any other issues that you have, disapproving of the way the president has dealt with Syria, whatever the subject is, reluctance, the cowardice to do something about gun violence, the cruelty of not wanting to help our Dreamers and transgender people, the denial about the climate crisis...

Rep. Eric Swalwell, a Democrat on the Intelligence and Judiciary committees, reacted to acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney's remarks that aid to Ukraine was in fact tied to President Trump’s wish for an investigation into the 2016 election. "He co-signed the President's confession, I guess," he told reporters as he left the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility at Capitol Hill. Swalwell reiterated that Trump still deserves a fair process even though he believes the President has confessed. "We have a confession from the President," Swalwell said. "When a suspect confesses you can reduce the number of witnesses you...
