DAYTON — A shooting with multiple fatalities and several people wounded has occurred near Ned Peppers Bar on East Fifth Street in the city of Dayton’s Oregon District. Here’s the latest: UPDATE @ 11:30 a.m.: Connor Betts, 24, of Bellbrook has been identified as the suspected shooter in the Oregon District, government sources have confirmed to this news outlet. Several law enforcement officers are conducting an investigation at a home Creekview Place, connected to the mass shooting. Florida state Sen. Lauren Book is working to make sure a male-dominated legislature isn’t allowed to limit a woman’s access to abortion. She has filed a bill calling for a constitutional amendment that would prohibit the Florida House of Representatives and Senate from voting on a bill that would affect access to abortions unless at least half of the members voting are women. “No vote about us without us,” Book told the Tallahassee Democrat. The vast majority of the legislature in both chambers are men. Men make up 70% of both the House and Senate.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — After a one-week detour, a bill that would allow Ohioans to carry a concealed gun without a permit has advanced in the Ohio House. A House committee on Wednesday voted mostly along party lines to refer for passage House Bill 178, which would allow anyone 21 and older to carry any concealed deadly weapon as long as they’re not legally barred from owning a gun.
