This election is about the kind of people we are and the nation we aspire to be Ever since Donald Trump was elected, many have insisted that the vulgar racism upon which he bases so much of his appeal is “unprecedented,” and “abnormal.” And sure enough, there are things about the way he deploys racial, ethnic, and cultural hostilities that are new, even in the long and disturbing pantheon of American politics. For instance, referring to some among a crowd of white supremacists as “very fine people” — as Duke did after the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville —...

[Catholic Caucus] Opposing “LGBT” Errors with Truth and Charity: My Twitter Exchange with Fr. Martin Reaching Out to Lost Sheep Every year on the Third Sunday after Pentecost, which fell on June 30 this year, the faithful who attend the traditional Roman Mass hear a powerful duo of readings from Holy Scripture. The Epistle, 1 Peter 5:6-11, focuses our attention on the reality of spiritual warfare, with the Prince of the Apostles exhorting us, “Be sober and watch, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, goeth about seeking whom he may devour. Whom resist ye, strong in faith: knowing...

There’s nothing scarier than finding out that there’s something in your house trying to kill you. Unless it’s just your pet cat. A Twitter user claimed he was having trouble breathing in his sleep, so he set up a camera to see what was going on at night. What he saw, however, was somehow both adorable and also terrifying (as only cats can pull off). *Twitter skip* Luis Navarro posted on the social media site three pictures taken while he was sleeping. His cat can be seen getting closer to his face until it eventually just sits directly on his...

Washington, D.C. (July 29, 2019)—Today, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, the Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, issued a second interim staff report in the Committee’s investigation into efforts to transfer U.S. nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia. Chairman Cummings issued the following statement: “Today’s report reveals new and extensive evidence that corroborates Committee whistleblowers and exposes how corporate and foreign interests are using their unique access to advocate for the transfer of U.S. nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia. The American people deserve to know the facts about whether the White House is willing to place the potential profits of...

After the Baltimore riots in 2015, President Barack Obama spoke about communities in the major Maryland city that are struggling with “abject poverty,” “no investment,” and drugs. Obama partially blamed the riots on the lack of opportunity in Baltimore communities, pointing out the high rates of crime, substandard education, and drug abuse. (RELATED: Obama Refers To Baltimore Rioters As ‘Criminals And Thugs’) Riots are more likely to occur “if you have impoverished communities that have been stripped away of opportunities, where children are born into abject poverty, they’ve got parents — often because of substance abuse problems, or incarceration, or...

Last week USA Today and the Soros-funded Center for Public Integrity published an article attacking state-level efforts to combat terrorism and protect individual fundamental constitutional rights. I am personally very proud to have worked on such efforts to protect individual fundamental constitutional rights and efforts to empower survivors and victims of terrorism.

[Catholic Caucus] Students Rebell Against Pope Francis The students of the Roman John Paul II Institute rebel against Pope Francis’ attempt to destroy their college.More than 150 of them signed a July 24 letter saying that the newly approved statutes will undermine the institute’s Catholic mission and identity. The letter was sent to Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, the Institute’s grand chancellor, and Msgr. Pierangelo Sequeri, its president. Both of them are hardcore modernists. The students also expressed their sadness about the expulsion of two professors, Monsignor Livio Melina and Father José Noriega who taught at the Institute for decades and are world-renowned representatives...

Attorney General William Barr ruled Monday that being a member of a family harassed by gangs is not enough to qualify for asylum. In a ruling that will likely block a large number of immigrants from lodging successful asylum claims moving forward, Barr overturned a previous decision made by Board of Immigration Appeals, which found that being a member of family targeted by gangs or other criminal organizations could qualify them as a “particular social group” worthy of U.S. asylum.

It might seem obvious, but don’t bring explosives or devices that shoot explosives on airplanes. Even if they're just replicas, it's still a bad idea. The TSA recently tweeted out two photos of items that passengers attempted to bring onto planes with them. Based on the information, it does not appear that either traveler intended to use these items for no good, but they were still clearly against regulations.

Old video footage shows the current president of the Maryland Senate referring to Baltimore as a “warzone” and a “ghetto” while the previous mayor, while taking a tour of a neighborhood, says: “Whoa, you can smell the rats.” Then-Mayor Catherine Pugh walked through part of the city with Fox 45 cameras in September 2018. At one point, Pugh looks at vacant homes in the area and tells people around her: “What the hell? We should just take all this [expletive] down.” “Whoa, you can smell the rats,” she soon adds. “Whew, Jesus. Oh, my God, you can smell the dead...

Filmmaker and left-wing activist Rob Reiner has declared that all supporters of President Donald Trump are racist, claiming that Trump has made it “abundantly clear” his re-election [campaign] is based on white nationalism. Posting on his Twitter feed, which is almost entirely dedicated to attacking Trump and the current administration, Reiner explained that voting for Trump means there is no distinction between “being a racist and a racist enabler. ” “The President of the United States is a racist. He’s made it abundantly clear his re-election is based on white nationalism,” Reiner said. “If you support him, there can be...

An MSNBC political analyst said on "Morning Joe" Monday that President Trump's rhetoric "could lead to some sort of a horrible civil war." Karine Jean-Pierre, the chief public affairs officer for MoveOn.org, was reacting with Joe Scarborough to Trump's attack on Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., in which the president called Baltimore “far worse and more dangerous” than the southern border. “Cumming[s'] District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place,” Trump tweeted, before calling for an investigation into why Baltimore received...

Polling shows that Johnson is more unpopular in Scotland than anywhere else in the United Kingdom. A poll published last month found that would Scottish people would vote for independence from the rest of the UK in the event of Johnson become prime minister. Business Insider revealed last month that when Johnson was the editor of The Spectator magazine, he published a poem joking about the "extermination" of the "verminous" Scottish people. Johnson also wrote a column suggesting that Scottish people should be prevented from becoming prime minister.

Fifty-nine House Democrats joined with 148 Republicans to vote down the rat bill. It was the rhetoric, and not the comparatively modest sum involved, that made this a notable episode. Congressmen joked about LBJ’s “civil rats” bill, with a “rat corps” to be presided over by “a high commissioner of rats.” “Mr. Speaker,” the typical speech went, “ I think the ‘rat smart thing’ for us to do is to vote down this rat bill ‘rat now.’” Florida Democrat James Haley suggested releasing “federally funded cats” in the cities instead. The rat bill was successfully revived at the end of...

Transcripts obtained from the FBI in a request for information show that James Rybicki, the former FBI Chief of Staff under James Comey, testified that the Russia Conspiracy sham came from Obama’s White House in October 2016. We reported last week that businessman Ed Butowsky filed a lawsuit where he outed reporter Ellen Ratner as his source for information that Seth Rich and his brother provided WikiLeaks the DNC emails before the 2016 election, not Russia. This totally destroys the FBI and Mueller’s claims that Russians hacked the DNC to obtain these emails. Butowsky claimsin his lawsuit: Ms. Rattner said...
