The Washington Post is on a power trip again, high on the possibilities of ruining some more Republicans, like Woodward and Bernstein hoping to repeal the Nixon landslide over McGovern in those golden days of Watergate. They are goading the Democrats from the hard left for contempt citations, impeachments and even jail time. Washington Post opinion writer Greg Sargent wrote a piece with the headline "Democratic equivocation over impeachment is a moral and political disaster." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Jerry Nadler are in danger of a "dereliction of institutional duty," he says, and to show concern that the...

A basic law in physics says that energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only be changed from one form to another. The same rule, I think, applies to society. There is a given amount of human energy. Is it going to be directed creatively? Or destructively? We see both at play in the life and death of rapper Nipsey Hussle. Hussle was a born entrepreneur. According to a newspaper account, it's what earned him his nickname. He was polishing shoes at age 11 to earn money. Then began his music. And then he moved into investments. And then,...

Weiss. There was a school of thought that said former Vice President Joe Biden would begin to sink in the polls the moment he announced his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination. Biden's first day in the race, the thinking went, would be his best day. In fact, the opposite has happened. Since formally becoming a candidate on April 25, Biden has shot up in the polls. On announcement day, Biden held a 6.3-point lead over second-place Sen. Bernie Sanders in the RealClearPolitics average of polls. Today, that lead is 23.5 points. That is a big change. Polls do not tell...

From a southern drawl to a Boston twang, there is no shortage of accents in the United States of America. But no accent is alike - and neither is their sex appeal. Now a new survey has ranked the sexiest and least sexiest accents in America, revealing whether the country prefers the sounds of Mark Wahlberg or the Jersey Shore cast. While Texas and Boston reigned supreme, the likes of Snooki and The Situation would be sad to learn that New Jersey accents ranked almost dead last in the survey by Big 7 Travel.

The organizers’ war against former investor Dentsu is going to court next week in a last-ditch effort to save the beleaguered festival. >snip< Less than two weeks after investor Dentsu Aegis announced it was pulling the plug on Woodstock 50, the festival’s organizers fired back at the company on Wednesday through the courts. In a filing with the Supreme Court of New York, Michael Lang, the original festival’s co-founder, and other organizers requested an injunction that would, among other things, force Dentsu to hand over $17.8 million in disputed funds and continue work on the festival. A hearing on the...

Alice Rivlin, a leading expert on US budget policy who served as the first director of the Congressional Budget Office, has died at the age of 88. The economist, who in the 1990s became the first woman to be White House budget director and vice-chair of the Federal Reserve Board, died of cancer on Tuesday morning in Washington DC, according to the Brookings Institution think-tank, where she was a senior fellow. Rivlin “made great and lasting contributions as a leader and economic policymaker and broke barriers as a woman in the economics profession,” Fed chair Jay Powell said in a...

When police charged New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft with soliciting prostitution, the press said the police rescued sex slaves. "They were women who were from China, who were forced into sex slavery," said Trevor Noah on "The Daily Show." We're told this happens all the time. "Human trafficking is the fastest growing illegal business in the United States," says fashion model Kathy Ireland. It's bunk, says reporter Elizabeth Nolan Brown. In the Robert Kraft case, she points out, "They had all these big announcements at first saying they had busted up an international sex trafficking ring, implying these women...

Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-Texas, tried rebooting his 2020 campaign on "The View" Tuesday, admitting that he made some missteps in his initial launch earlier in 2019. O'Rourke specifically indicated he regretted saying he "sometimes" raised his son, and that his Vanity Fair cover "reinforced" the perception that he was privileged. When co-host Joy Behar asked if he thought the Vanity Fair cover looked "elitist," O'Rourke nodded his head.

A Claude Monet painting from his celebrated "Meules" (Haystacks) series fetched $110.7 million in New York on Tuesday in an auction record for the French Impressionist master. The sale at Sotheby's -- the first time the work had come to auction since 1986 -- fetched one of the 10 highest prices ever seen at auction. The total, which includes fees and the commission, was more than 44 times the previous record for the work.

Millennial men lack the defining grit and initiative of men from prior ages. Not only are men getting weaker and more effeminate, but they are also floundering academically too. Women are presently outperforming men in every level of academia. *snip* Children begin absorbing values and beliefs as soon as they can understand language. A young boy's mind consumes everything in its environment; the good, the bad, and the ugly. Whether we like it or not, the impressionable minds of young children are always learning. A good dad guards and protects his children from the corrupting influences of the culture. If...

I have no love for left-wing, Hillary-promoting Hollywood producer and accused #MeToo villain Harvey Weinstein. Nor am I a fan of those who perpetrated the cop-bashing "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" fiction involving social justice martyr Michael Brown. But I do strongly believe that a grave injustice has been committed by Harvard's witch-hunt mobsters against a law professor who joined Weinstein's legal team and had represented Brown's family in a civil suit against Ferguson, Missouri. Too bad Ivy League elitist bubbles have purged themselves of people with the backbone, integrity, and courage to end the madness. Ronald Sullivan, faculty dean of...

Republican Sen. Mitt Romney broke with President Trump and the rest of his party Tuesday to oppose the confirmation of a federal judge who had referred to former president Barack Obama as an “un-American impostor.” Romney (Utah) was the only voting senator to break ranks on a party-line vote to seat Michael J. Truncale on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Economics at Ohio University Richard Vedder's new book, "Restoring the Promise," published by the Independent Institute based in Oakland, California, is about the crisis in higher education. He summarizes the three major problems faced by America's colleges and universities. First, our universities "are vastly too expensive, often costing twice as much per student compared with institutions in other industrialized democracies." Second, though there are some important exceptions, students "on average are learning relatively little, spend little time in academic preparation and in some disciplines are indoctrinated by highly subjective ideology." Third, "there is a mismatch between...

TEL AVIV (Reuters) - Israel’s webcast of the Eurovision Song Contest semi-final was hacked with animated images of explosions in host city Tel Aviv, which the national broadcaster blamed on Hamas militants... After the 41-country competition kicked off on Tuesday with a first semi-final, Kan’s webcast cut to animated satellite footage showing explosions in Tel Aviv set to a menacing soundtrack. ... The British State, once high and mighty, lording it over other nations with typical English condescension and patronising arrogance, has well and truly come crashing down to Earth with a very heavy bump thanks to Brexit. It will never be the same again. ---break--- I say whether or not because after having almost three years to prepare for the UK exit from the EU as voted on by over 17 million British people in the largest and longest democratic exercise in the history of modern British democracy, the ‘fixed’ departure date of March 29th 2019 came and went, despite...

The New Orleans Pelicans — not the New York Knicks — will pick first in the 2019 NBA draft and have the opportunity to select Zion Williamson. Additionally, the Los Angeles Lakers moved up to fourth overall, setting Twitter ablaze as the results were revealed on ESPN on Tuesday. The Memphis Grizzlies, who will pick second, summed up everyone’s collective reactions perfectly. Knicks fans set up at bars around New York City and even held a draft lottery party. But this fan who got a Zion tattoo before the lottery will have to live with disappointment forever as the Knicks...
