Joe Biden And Restoring The Old (Pre-Trump) Order
Townhall.com ^ | May 15, 2019 | Byron York

There was a school of thought that said former Vice President Joe Biden would begin to sink in the polls the moment he announced his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination. Biden's first day in the race, the thinking went, would be his best day.

In fact, the opposite has happened. Since formally becoming a candidate on April 25, Biden has shot up in the polls. On announcement day, Biden held a 6.3-point lead over second-place Sen. Bernie Sanders in the RealClearPolitics average of polls. Today, that lead is 23.5 points. That is a big change.

Polls do not tell us who will win an election months from now. But they do tell us what is happening at this moment. And at this moment, Democratic voters, who are sometimes said to be moving left and itching to transform the United States with a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and through-the-roof taxes on the rich, are in fact responding to a decidedly more centrist appeal.

That appeal, from Biden, is a promise not to fundamentally remake American society, but to restore things to the way they used to be. And "the way they used to be" means before Donald Trump.

Obviously, Democratic voters want to replace a Republican president with a Democratic president. But they are especially dismayed by Trump -- and some, driven by increasingly strident news coverage, seem to have gone nearly 'round the bend about him.

But for some center-left Democrats, the solution to the Trump Problem -- that is, the fact that Trump is president -- might not be the Green New Deal or Medicare for All. It is to restore the pre-2017 order in American politics. And Biden, Barack Obama's vice president from 2009 to 2017, is the physical embodiment of that old order.

That is what Biden promises. Nearly every day, he repeats some version of his core campaign pledge: "I want to restore the soul of this country."

Biden's unexpected choice of the 2017 events in Charlottesville, Virginia, as the theme of his announcement was a way of saying that something has gone terribly wrong in the United States and that he wants to return to the pre-Trump past. Addressing a real or imagined moral crisis is one way for an opposition candidate to run against an incumbent president whose term has brought solid economic growth, low unemployment and higher wages.

How long will Biden's lead last? Who knows? There is simply no telling how the Democratic race will play out. In the last two Republican nomination contests, we saw one race, in 2012, in which several candidates alternated holding the lead before Mitt Romney finally won. In the other, in 2016, we saw Trump lead a big field virtually the entire time. Now, with an even bigger Democratic field, the race dynamics are not yet clear.

Plus, for Biden specifically, there will always be the issue of age. Biden will be 78 years old on Inauguration Day 2021. That is the same age Trump would be upon leaving office, should he serve eight years. But Biden would be just beginning his presidency nearing the age of 80. That is totally uncharted territory in United States history. (By the way, one other candidate, Sanders, is even older.)

Even if Democrats want to restore the old order, they might decide a younger candidate should do the job.

They might also want a candidate without Biden's record of fizzling out in presidential campaigns. In his first run for president, in 1988, Biden withdrew amid a plagiarism scandal before any votes were cast. In his second run, in 2008, he quit after finishing fifth in the Iowa caucuses. So he has run twice and never even made it to the New Hampshire primary.

Now, though, Biden stands ahead of the field. Democrats know how old he is, they know he has lost in the past, and they still like him.

There's a truism that elections are always about the future, not the past. That's often the case. But what if it isn't this time? A lot of political truisms did not hold up in the 2016 election, which was won by a man with another promise of restoration, to Make America Great Again.

Now, many Democrats seem happy to support a candidate who pledges to take them back a few years. Again, that could change, but for the moment it shows how many Democrats yearn to return to a time before Trump.

Speaking of “restoring the old order” .....

Here is the best part of the FoxNews talk shows last night from Tucker Carlson’s show.
At the 15:25 point, Tucker talks to Howie Carr about William Barr’s U.S. Attorney John Durham out of Massachusetts. This is good ..... especially the very end of Howie’s comments.

This article slays me...LOLOL....

Biden who is a total idiot, helped his son in Ukraine in crimes, who doesn’t know where to keep his hands to himself and all over everything that wears a skirt, including little children, can’t put three words into a sentence...

Our President on the other hand came out about jobs, build a wall, bringing back jobs to America for American Patriots, telling other countries to pay up for our services to pay them for protection, telling China and other countries to pay tariffs on their goods, which China has never been told what to do by Our Country, is the richest part of what Candidate Trump said he would do and everything he talked about on the Campaign trail, Our President had done and is doing...

Biden ‘all hands all over’ has done NOTHING!!! He will promise you the moon, the stars and beyond and won’t give YOU anything, but will rake it in for him....

My vote: Reelect President Of The United States of America Donald John Trump!!!

From what I can see, the media is running Biden’s campaign right out of the Clinton playbook. He’s making short speeches to small crowds, and not even many of those. They are even running the same kind of polls showing that Biden will waltz to a victory over Trump.

Besides his age, we must remember that gaffe-master Biden has 36 years years of warming a seat in the Senate and 8 years of a do-nothing Vice Presidency which somehow ended up with him and his family becoming wealthy.

His real attractiveness to many Democrats is that he will almost assuredly nominate Harris or the delusional woman from Georgia as his running mate. Failing that, they could probably find a gay Hispanic or a hermaphroditic Eskimo.

Just libtard logic. “Trump is a retard!” “We need someone who can beat Trump!” No one believed they could find a bigger retard. They did.

No one and nothing will ever return us to pre-Trump America. The Democrats and NeverTrumpers have seen to that.

CIRCA 2017--Former Joe Biden Secret Service Agent:
We Had to Protect Women From Him, ‘Weinstein Level Stuff’

Gateway Pundit ^ | 11/14/2017 | Cassandra Fairbanks / FR Posted by Javeth

A former Secret Service agent assigned to the Vice President Joe Biden residence claims that the Service often had to protect female agents from him. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, the agent asserted that, “We had to cancel the VP Christmas get together at the Vice President’s house because Biden would grope all of our wives and girlfriend’s asses.” The annual party was for agents and Navy personnel who were tasked with protecting the Biden family.

“He would mess with every single woman or teen. It was horrible,” the agent said. According to the source, a Secret Service agent once got suspended for a week in 2009 for shoving Biden after he cupped his girlfriend’s breast while the couple was taking a photo with him. The situation got so heated, the source told Cassandra Fairbanks, that others had to step in to prevent the agent from hitting the then-Vice President. Additionally, the agent claims that Biden would walk around the VP residence naked at night. “I mean, Stark naked… Weinstein level stuff,” he added. He said that the men on duty would frequently stand in front of female agents and Navy women that were present “like a damn guardian.” On some occasions, they would make up reasons to get the women away from where he was. The agent said he was specifically concerned about women in the Navy.

“They weren’t allowed to disobey him at all, but we’d take them away under pretend auspices,” the agent stated. The official Vice Presidential residence is the Queen Anne style house at One Observatory Circle in Washington, DC, which is located on the northeast grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory. The property is maintained and cared for by the service branch.

Best-selling author Ronald Kessler wrote about Biden’s problem with female agents in his book The First Family Detail. “Agents say that, whether at the vice president’s residence or at his home in Delaware, Biden has a habit of swimming in his pool nude,” Kessler wrote. “Female Secret Service agents find that offensive.” Our source confirmed this sentiment, adding that “it was especially an issue at his Delaware house that he would go to every weekend.”

“Biden would only get naked when Jill was absent,” he added.

Biden has also long been criticized for his contact with women and girls in photos and videos, and was even referred to as “Creepy Uncle Joe Biden” by the Washington Post. In a report from the Washington Examiner titled, ‘Joe Biden’s Woman Touching Habit,’ Byron York wrote that he has a tendency to be “particularly affectionate with women in business and social situations, like the 2013 Christmas party at which he embraced reporter Amie Parnes.” The agent also worked under the Bush administration, and added that Vice President Dick Cheney “never grabbed any butts or breasts.” We have reached out to a Biden spokeswoman for comment, but did not receive a response by time of publishing.

The shocking 2016 incident where then-VP Biden monetized his high office;
Biden brazenly shook down Ukraine, threatening to withhold $1B US loan guarantees unless they ditched a prosecutor.
Biden’s chronically unemployed son, Hunter, was inexplicably made board member of a Ukraine energy company.
The hapless prosecutor who got dumped was investigating the company.

The Hill ^ | 5/01/19 | JOHN SOLOMON / FR Posted by Libloather

Two years after leaving office, Joe Biden couldn’t resist the temptation last year to brag to an audience of foreign policy specialists about the time as vice president that he strong-armed Ukraine into firing its top prosecutor. In his own words, with video cameras rolling, Biden described how he threatened Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in March 2016 that the Obama administration would pull $1 billion in U.S. loan guarantees, sending the former Soviet republic toward insolvency, if it didn’t immediately fire Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin.

“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion.’ I’m going to be leaving here in, I think it was about six hours. I looked at them and said: ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money,’” Biden recalled telling Poroshenko.

“Well, son of a bitch, he got fired. And they put in place someone who was solid at the time,” Biden bragged on tape before the Council on Foreign Relations event, insisting that President Obama was in on the threat.

Interviews with a half-dozen senior Ukrainian officials confirm Biden’s account, though they claim the pressure was applied over several months in late 2015 and early 2016, not just six hours of one dramatic day. (Excerpt) Read more at thehill.com ...

Biden can hardly put a sentence together. I think that he can't do it.

I'm 72 years old and I think I know what is happenng to him. I spend a lot of time reading here and elsewhere.

It is a fact that for the past year or so I am finding it hard to remember names of people and things that I used to quickly remember in the recent past. I think many of we older men begin to get this dreaded "condition". It's infuriating at times.

Good luck to Joe ..... but not as President.

Mr. York is overthinking this. Biden shot up in the polls because all of his opponents are freaking moonbats who scare the bejeebers out of many voters.

Biden’s poll numbers are simply a reflection of how bizarre and out of the mainstream the rest of the Democrat candidates are. Occam’s Razor.
