Former Secretary of State and failed 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry brushed off President Trump's charges that he is illegally undermining the Administration's policy toward Iran. According to various media reports, Kerry has been secretly advising the Iranian dictatorship and its European allies to ignore Trump and stick with the deal he and former President Obama made. Kerry asserts that he is "representing the true consensus of opinion on the proper relationship between the United States and Iran—one based on mutual trust and respect. Trump's attitude of America first and his publicly expressed suspicion of Iran's motives threatens the gains...

I am embarrassed to admit that when William Barr became Donald Trump’s Attorney General a couple of months ago, I did not remember that he had been here, done that as George H. W. Bush’s Attorney General back in the previous century. They did have television back then, however, and students of history, as well as students of politics, can profit from watching Barr’s original confirmation hearings, presided over – drum roll, please – by a younger, much more acute Joe Biden, who, like the poor, we seem to have always with us. It’s a long clip, but very much worth...

Is selling out U.S. national security OK so long as Democrats are doing it? What a disturbing picture is emerging from the research of Peter Schweizer, who has a new one out about Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden's son Hunter and his business dealings with China. In a New York Post op-ed, Schweizer writes: In 2013, then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden flew aboard Air Force Two to China. Less than two weeks later, Hunter Biden's firm inked a $1 billion private equity deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government's Bank of China. The deal was later...

The sudden urgency with which Democrats are flinging themselves like kamikazes with buckets of fried chicken at Attorney General William Barr reveals that they actually know what he has sniffed out, and their jig is about to be up. Having an out-of-control, ethical, and nonpartisan attorney general was not part of the plot to unseat Trump: When William Barr took over as attorney general, it was the first time in years the agency had any real political accountability[.] ... His public vow to examine whether the widespread spying operation against Trump and his affiliates was lawful and appropriate sent shockwaves...

Pete Buttigieg sought to diffuse weeks of fraught questions about white privilege and his struggles attracting minorities to his campaign by calling out fellow Democrats on Saturday for playing “identity politics” and pitting one group’s grievances against another’s. In a risky speech to the Human Rights Campaign, a major LGBT rights group, Buttigieg warned of a “crisis of belonging in this country,” arguing it was exacerbated by “so-called identity politics” that emphasize how one person hasn’t walked in another’s shoes — “something that is true, but it doesn’t get us very far.”

The bodies were found in Gifhorn, Lower Saxony, in the apartment of one of the women discovered in Passau, Bavaria. The apartment was searched in order to shed light on the Passau discoveries. Detectives were hoping for clues to the mysterious deaths of one man and two women, all apparently dead from being shot by crossbows. The annual United Nations Global Environment Outlook is just out, and it goes way beyond anything previously "reported."  Environmentalists are desperate to eliminate fossil fuels and shift energy production to their favored industries — so they've discovered that the climate is not just worsening.  Rather, it's the end of the world.  The report was the product of an organization that calls itself "the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda."  I thought individual countries set their own agendas, not a bunch of bureaucrats with headquarters in Nairobi, but the U.N. begs to differ. As headlined in the Washington Post, the report...

On May 12, 1969, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 at Busch Stadium. Bob Gibson pitched a complete game for the Cards, allowing two runs on seven hits. He struck out six and walked one. There was nothing exceptional about Gibson’s pitching performance that day. It was a typical one for him that year, except for the relatively low number of strikeouts. But Gibson’s contributions weren’t limited to pitching. At the plate, he went 3-3 with a walk. He also stole a base. Gibson singled to lead off the bottom of the third inning, but did...

The Supreme Court on Monday ruled 5-4 against Apple in a case involving its signature electronic marketplace, the App Store, allowing iPhone users to move forward with an antitrust suit against the company. The iPhone users argued that Apple’s 30% commission on sales through the App Store is an unfair use of monopoly power that results in inflated prices passed on to consumers. Apple argued that only app developers, and not users, should be able to bring such a lawsuit. But the Supreme Court, in an opinion authored by Justice Brett Kavanaugh, rejected that claim.

President Trump is ready to rumble. At a recent rally, he mocked the large field running against him and implored Democrats to “Just pick somebody; let’s start this thing.” Nobody since Bill Clinton has showed such enthusiasm for the fight, or is so good at it. At the same event, Trump completely obliterated Democrat wunderkind Pete Buttigieg, saying: "He’ll be great representing us against President Xi of China…I want to be in that room. I want to watch that one." Who didn’t automatically picture the fresh-faced young mayor from South Bend facing off against the battle-tested, remorseless Xi? It is...

Complex Eyes of ‘Simple’ Clams Confound Darwin May 13, 2019 | Jerry Bergman by Jerry Bergman, PhD Darwin is famous for admitting that the origin of complex structures made him sick: In The Origin of Species, we read: “To suppose that the eye with all its inimitable contrivances for adjusting the focus to different distances, for admitting different amounts of light, and for the correction of spherical and chromatic aberration, could have been formed by natural selection, seems, I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree.”[1]

The very public scene of hundreds of Colorado students and their parents walking out of a vigil that was turned into political theater by the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence was so embarrassing that the gun control group actually issued an apology. Before leaving the Wednesday night event, students shouted, in front of journalists who the Brady Campaign invited: “this is not for us,” “political stunt” and “we are people, not a statement.” The Brady Campaign had portrayed the event as a vigil in memory of Kendrick Castillo, a student hero who died from gunshot wounds after he and...

Following news of Amazon’s plans to reduce Prime shipping down to one day, the company this morning announced an expansion of its Delivery Service Partner program, which now includes a new incentive that encourages existing Amazon employees to start their own package delivery company. The partner program, first announced last year, includes access to Amazon’s delivery technology, hands-on training, and a suite of other discounts for assets and services like vehicle leasing and insurance. For employees, it now includes a $10,000 incentive, too. The retailer says it will fund the startup costs up to $10,000 as well as the equivalent...
