Around here, farmers can't get into the fields to plant; too muddy and the machinery sinks above the axles. Those who did plant early, are finding the seeds and sprouting plants are rotting. Crops are going to be very late, this year, if at all.

China contributes to negative interest rates in other countries due its enormous current account surplus.
This creates a “savings glut” that keeps interest rates very low. What individuals in their respective countries choose to do is dwarfed by China’s behavior.
With any luck Trump’s trade policies will return manufacturing to the American Rust Belt and start carving away at China’s huge savings surplus. We could end up with better job prospects in America plus some return on our savings.
