Fraternities and sororities will no longer be allowed at Swarthmore College following outrage over years-old documents allegedly written by one fraternity there that contains derogatory comments about women and the LGBTQ community and jokes about sexual assault. School President Valerie Smith made the announcement Friday in a letter posted on the college's website. Smith says the school's lone sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, can continue with its current members through the spring 2022 semester but can't recruit or initiate new members. Swarthmore's decision comes about a week after the only two fraternities at the private liberal arts college in suburban Philadelphia...

Brian Kemp recently signed into law. [snip] "Our reproductive rights are being erased. Until women have legal control over our own bodies we just cannot risk pregnancy," Milano tweeted. "JOIN ME by not having sex until we get bodily autonomy back. I’m calling for a #SexStrike. Pass it on."

I live next door to a social justice warrior. You know the type. Always offended. Always angry about something. Yesterday I was sitting on my front porch when she rode past me on her bicycle. "Cow!" I yelled. She scowled and gave me the finger. Then she ran straight into a cow. Goodness knows I tried to warn her.

How lucky is Trump to have Jerry Nadler as his chief inquisitor on Capitol Hill? I recall Nadler from his Jabba-the-Hutt days defending Bill Clinton from impeachment exactly 20 years ago. He must have thought we wouldn’t notice it is the same guy if he underwent barometric surgery—that’s where you let high pressure squeeze you into the human likeness of a raisin, but side effects include a full-blown case of TDS and a lot of tailor bills—and behold, Nadler is telling us we are in the midst of a Kon-scth-tooo-shun-al Kryyy-Siss! Pass the popcorn please.

MANY MORE REGISTERED voters are aware of the Green New Deal, but the political split surrounding the polarizing legislative proposal aimed at curtailing climate change has deepened over the past four months, according to a recent poll. Republican approval of the plan tanked, while Democratic support remained high – between 88%-96% – according to a Yale and George Mason University poll released this week. Over half of self-identified conservative Republicans supported the climate plan in December 2018. That number dropped to 32% in April. For moderate and liberal Republicans, the number fell from 75% approval to 64%. The poll described...

Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke suggested Thursday using the tax code to address income inequity by transferring wealth from rich white residents to African-Americans. [Snip] One person asked O'Rourke how he would use the tax code to help minorities. He first responded by detailing the difficulties African-Americans have faced in trying to build wealth in the face of what he said was institutional discrimination. "What if in the tax code we did a better job of breaking down that accumulated wealth, of taxing it so it is not producing the greatest income and wealth inequality that we’ve seen in our...

“‘They love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full’” (Matthew 6:5). In Jesus’ time, the synagogues were the likeliest and most appropriate places for sincere public praying. Devout Jews also offered many prayers on street corners, if that’s where they were at the appointed hour of prayer. But the word Jesus uses here indicates a major street, and therefore a major street corner where a bigger crowd would likely be. By inference the hypocrites were at...

President Donald Trump’s supporters have settled on a strategy to undermine former Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign for president: equate him with former nominee Hillary Clinton, The Atlantic reports. In 2016, Trump and his allies hit Clinton heavily over her record in Washington, painting her as an ineffectual D.C.-insider who’s working to uphold the status quo, a strategy they hope to repeat with Biden, the current frontrunner for the Democratic nomination. "The notion that [Biden is] arguing for the status quo is a little hard when the status quo is Donald Trump,” an anonymous Biden adviser told the Atlantic. “What...

President Trump has apparently taken charge of this year’s Fourth of July celebration in Washington, D.C., and will possibly give a personal address, angering some Democrats who fear the president will politicize the holiday. City officials in the nation's capital were notified of Trump’s plan to address the nation on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and move the traditional fireworks display from the Capitol Reflecting Pool to the nearby West Potomac Park, the Washington Post reported.

President Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani changed course late Friday, declaring he would no longer go on a planned trip to Ukraine to press for an investigation into Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Giuliani announced the decision Friday night during an appearance on Fox News, saying "I'm not gonna go," and blaming Democrats for trying to “spin” the trip. "I think I'm walking into a group of people that are enemies of the President, in some cases enemies of the United States and, in one case, an already convicted person who has been found to be involved in assisting the Democrats...

Had Daniel Patrick Moynihan been around for today's politics, fellow New York Democratic politician Representative Hakeem Jeffries may well have provided the inspiration for his astute quote: "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts." During the recent House Judiciary Committee hearing, Representative Jeffries asserted that Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report showed that Moscow "artificially" placed President Donald Trump in the White House. As the House Democratic Caucus chair, and not said as some off-the-cuff remarks, Jeffries further insisted that "Russia interfered with our elections, attacked our democracy for the sole purpose of artificially placing someone...

Politics is front and center for the Russiagate probe, which has reached previously unknown heights of farce – and that’s saying something. This week saw the spectacle of the House Judiciary Committee holding the attorney general of the United States in contempt for withholding Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s final report … notwithstanding that the report was actually provided to lawmakers. Desperate to project the illusion of cover-up in the utter absence of cover-up, Democrats proceeded against the attorney general even though (a) Barr did not owe Congress a single comma in the report because federal law calls for it to...
