Despite opposition from the media, Democrats and RINO Republicans, President Trump is moving forward with construction of the border wall. U.S. officials will begin easing environment laws for the border near San Diego. Reuters reports: "The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said on Tuesday it would waive environmental and related laws in order to expedite building security-related barriers and roads along the nation’s border with Mexico near San Diego. The projects would focus on about 15 miles (24 km) of the frontier extending eastward from the Pacific Ocean as part of President Donald Trump’s planned wall between the United States...

Now, a complaint filed Tuesday by Wheeler in United States District Court in the Southern District of New York threatens to spark new conversation. In the complaint, Wheeler alleges "Fox News was working with the Trump administration to disseminate fake news in order to distract the public from Russia's alleged attempts to influence our Country's presidential election," according to his attorney, Douglas Wigdor. ... The lawsuit alleges Ed Butowsky and Malia Zimmerman, a Fox News contributor and journalist, respectively, "fabricated two quotations and attributed them to Mr. Wheeler," and included them in the now retracted article. ... In the complaint,...

On this day last year, I was on my Facebook timeline touting a new de-contented Colt entry-level AR carbine with an MSRP in the low $700 range. Today, CDNN is selling brand new Colt LE6920's, pretty much the benchmark AR-pattern carbine, for $799.99 and throwing in a 30-round Pmag and some other stuff to sweeten the deal. Walther is offering hundred dollar rebates on the PPQ and HK is throwing in bundles of magazines with new pistol purchases, meaning that in real terms you're getting a Walther or Heckler & Koch for the price of a base model G-lock. Smith...

More than a dozen retired generals and admirals have signed a letter to President Trump thanking him for his announced policy to ban transgender people from the armed forces. “We write today to express our gratitude to you for making the extremely courageous decision to reverse President [Barack] Obama’s transgender social experiment,” the conservative retired flag officers wrote. “There may be an enormous amount of vitriol directed at you for making this policy correction, but please know that overturning this policy may have done more in the long-term to save the culture and war-fighting capacity of the U.S. military than...

How a watery catastrophe shaped a planet Most scientists reject the idea of a global flood on Earth yet say they are certain there was a watery cataclysm on Mars so enormous that it carved a 3,500 km long channel that is about 400 km wide and up to 2.5 km deep. Kasei Valles, seen in MOLA elevation data. Flow was from bottom left to right. North is up. Image is approximately 1,600 km across, showing the enormous size of this channel, which is 3,500 km long, greater than 400 km wide, and exceeds a depth of 2.5 km Spectacular...

Republican Senator Jeff Flake provoked the ire of supporters of President Donald Trump by penning an editorial criticizing the president and accusing his party of being “in denial” over the state of the U.S. government. Flake’s editorial, published in Politic Magazine on Monday, slammed his fellow conservatives for failing to stand up against Trump. “Too often, we observe the unfolding drama along with the rest of the country, passively, all but saying, ‘Someone should do something!’ without seeming to realize that that someone is us,” said Flake. “And so, that unnerving silence in the face of an erratic executive branch...

George Selim, a prominent Obama administration holdover known for engaging fringe Islamic radicals, has resigned from the Department of Homeland Security. Selim left his post as director of Countering Violent Extremism (CVE), a senior administration official who is not authorized to discuss personnel matters confirmed to Conservative Review Sunday. The former DHS chief submitted his resignation Friday, following his testimony Thursday before the House Oversight Committee. Conservative national security experts have almost unanimously condemned the CVE approach as an ineffective program (at its best), and one that empowers Islamist groups and undermines Muslim reformers (at its worst). The CVE program...

Finding the Church in a Bach Fugue Msgr. Charles Pope • July 31, 2017 • credit: Jaclyn Lippelmann, Catholic StandardMany of you have likely read the classic description of the Church from the 1951 novel Dan England and the Noonday Devil, by Myles Connolly. It is a wonderful reminder that the Church is not an institution, but a Body, made up of members who, each in his own unique way, give witness to the one Body, which is Christ. Here is an excerpt from the book: What is the Church? The Church to me is all important things everywhere. It...

One wonders just who at BBDO New York decided to create a Proctor & Gamble ad campaign where black adults are explaining what racism is to their children? As a black parent, I never sought to prepare my sons for a racist world. I did address circumstances as they arose and my sons saw how it was handled, so with that I wonder how these people decided they were equipped to lecture the nation's blacks how to not only address racism but how children should be told about it.

Homeland Security triggered a waiver Tuesday allowing the department to bypass environmental and other land protection laws in order to begin building and testing President Trump’s new border wall. The waivers apply to San Diego, where officials already plan to upgrade miles of existing fence, but where they’ll also stage a competition this summer to build and test prototypes for Mr. Trump’s wall. It’s the first in what’s likely to be a series of waivers that will be needed as wall construction ramps up. Officials insisted they will still try to be mindful of local impacts as they work on...

Venezuela is a woeful reminder that no country is so rich that it can’t be driven into the ground by revolutionary socialism. People are now literally starving — about three-quarters of the population lost weight last year — in what once was the fourth-richest country in the world on a per capita basis. A country that has more oil reserves than Saudi Arabia is suffering shortages of basic supplies. Venezuela now totters on the brink of bankruptcy and civil war, in the national catastrophe known as the Bolivarian Revolution. The phrase is the coinage of the late Venezuelan strongman Hugo...
