Democrats are winning special elections this year. Just not the ones most people are paying attention to.

To put this into historical perspective, in 2016, over the full year, the results were the same 3 pick-ups or them and 1 for us. In the fall, we won everything (albeit with some RINOs in the mis). In 2014, a big year for us, it was 3 to 3.
Bottom Line: There's not a whole lot of information in the few times that special elections result in a partisan change. What this news story reveals is that the other side is grasping for straws.
BS. I posted a story yesterday-—feel free to repost on FR-—about voter registration changes in the battleground states:

I thought the R’s in Oklahoma had um....personal issues of the sexual kind?
Most of what comes from McClatchy is BS...Of course, that can be said for most ALL the news media these days...
That is such a small sample size, and then when you take the percentage of “flips” into account, as you say . .
It’s not much . . but go ahead McClatchy, keepon Fakin the News
Looks like the Yaral Tree Rings school of political analysis.
Right? Three flips two had scandals, one flip for the R and 33 no change is a trend? Must be that great policy message the Dems have. lol
Oklahoma. Don’t get caught with a dead girl or a live boy.
I hare to say this folks, but, read my lips. The Democrats will lose eight to twelve U.S. Senate seats and, they will lose between twelve to twenty seats in the House. Bank on it!!! They are destroying themselves.
Vote Democrat and turn the USA into Cuba/Venezuela. Take heed Americans, your lost freedom and liberty are but one election away!!!
thanks for the link. gee wonder why he lost to the dem? lol
This thread needs to go to the trash heap, with all due respect OP!
This is the same refined statistics that called the election for Hitlery.
Will do.
The data you cite are corroborated by Trump’s approval ratings by state. Trump won every state in which his rating is 42 or higher except 2 (NH and NV). Considering that Trump was elected with a net unfavorable rating, his underwater approval rating is not anathema.

Also corroborating: fundraising and candidate recruitment (realizing we are still early in the cycle), and by our competitiveness in Virginia.
Fundamentally, consumer confidence is strong (as is business confidence), and GDP growth, job creation and advances in real income and stock prices all bolster the meaningful political numbers.
So, what does McClatchey report? The essentially crap shot number from special elections. Reading the main stream media is like reading Pravda. When they report that bread causes cancer, it reveals that the wheat crop has failed. In this case, when McClatchey makes a big deal about a small net gain by the Democrats in special elections for state legislatures, it reveals that they have no meaningful data to support their contention that Trump is failing.
Beat me to it. As soon as I see the McClatchy byline I go to the Onion to read something more probable.
At the state level there have been a LOT of Republicans voting for tax increases. That plays a much bigger role than who POTUS is.
Piglosi has told the country that winning the House is unimportant.
So is she! (JM2C)
Yes, we can’t let the Democrats take over and stop Trump.
To put it in real perspective, the Democrats have a veto proof majority in about four to six states. We have a veto-proof majority in about 20.
There is a big imbalance in governors.
The Democrats have the majority of news outlets, almost a full lock on them.
We govern. And yet, at times, it’s just sad what we do with our power.
Look at Washington. We have clear majorities in the Senate and House, and have a good guy in the White House.
Congress is constipated.
Yep - first they say that losing battles where they went all-in to try to win them was winning and now they claim there’s a “trend” for Dems. I stopped getting our local paper years ago after McClatchy bought it out...
"What this town needs is an enema."
Can’t argue with that.
