When’s the last time you heard from 2016 Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein? When she’s not getting arrested for vandalizing construction equipment at the Dakota Access Pipeline she needs to find other ways to keep herself in the news. This week those efforts took the form of stopping by at MSNBC for an interview with Alex Witt. In it, the subject of foreign policy came up and Stein gave us a peek at what our position toward Kim Jong-un would have been had she been elected. It turns out that the diminutive dictator has been getting a bad rap...

Since the Debbie Wasserman Shultz-Awan connection has come to light I have watched to see if it would be given a fair outing in the mainstream media, and so far, I have heard nary a mention. Are the reported allegations that a United States Congresswoman and former head of the DNC continued to pay the salary of a Pakistani IT expert long after he had been denied access to congressional computers – in fact right up to the point when he was arrested by the FBI at an international airport trying to leave the country – of no interest to...

Also contributing to the creation of that fake...

They aren't the same as your local reproductive health clinic. You’ve probably seen billboards saying: “Pregnant & Scared? We’re here to help.” However, the groups on the other end of the phone are deceptive organizations called Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPCs). As the number of compassionate and ethical reproductive health clinics across the country are rapidly closing their doors, CPCs, focused on convincing anyone contemplating abortion care to continue a pregnancy, are growing rapidly. Here are 6 things you need to know about Crisis Pregnancy Centers: CPCs masquerade as abortion clinics and healthcare providers—and lure pregnant women in the door with...

Some troubling news has, once more, just come to us from Colombia. As we reported a while ago, there was the case of Don Uribe Medina, a parish priest punished for criticizing Pope Francis and his novel teaching concerning marriage. Fortunately, that case was resolved on good terms, with Fr. Uribe’s own bishop now even fully defending the Church’s traditional teaching on marriage. In the new case, however, Professor José Galat, former rector of the La Gran Colombia University and founder and owner of the television station Teleamiga, has been declared excommunicated for his purported schismatic attitude. More specifically, he...

Google has insisted that its robots are now superior to humans at identifying and blocking extremist videos, saying that they flag three in four offensive videos from YouTube before they are reported by users. [Google] more than doubled the number of illegal videos deleted from its platform last month after it adopted artificial intelligence moderators to help police content. "With over 400 hours of content uploaded to YouTube every minute, finding and taking action on violent extremist content poses a significant challenge. But over the past month, our initial use of machine learning has more than doubled both the number...

A 60-year-old Texas woman wasn't taking any chances Monday morning when she heard two intruders enter her home, grabbing her pistol and shooting one of the would-be thieves dead, police said. The woman, who was not immediately identified, confronted the two armed men after they entered her Harris County home through an open garage door around 11:30 a.m., WTSP reported. Cathy Hanks, a neighbor, said it's not surprising the woman fired her pistol when she saw a threat in her home, explaining: "That's really how we are. That's just Texas." "It's the state of Texas. If you're going to go...

This might be the most racist commercial any company has ever produced. A more than two-minute video produced by Procter & Gamble, the company that manufactures Cascade, Febreze, Mr. Clean, Tide, Swiffer, Downy and a plethora of products, shows various scenes of black parents talking with their children about racism. The ad, titled “The Talk,” shows scenes of black parents, spanning generations, telling their kids about how the system is stacked against them, how racist white people are and teaching them to fear the police. One of the scenes shows a black mother, who appears to be from the 1940s...

Researchers have established the third case of an HIV infection while under HIV PrEP regimen on a daily basis in a research study conducted in Amsterdam known as AMPrEP. The discovery emerged in late 2016 even as PrEP is continually used by thousands of people around the world to prevent HIV infections at an estimated rate of 99%. However, it is not 100% at preventing HIV and needs a combination of prevention methods such as the use of condoms.

They're called "ghost forests" — dead trees along vast swaths of coastline invaded by rising seas, something scientists call one of the most visible markers of climate change. The process has occurred naturally for thousands of years, but it has accelerated in recent decades as polar ice melts and raises sea levels, scientists say, pushing salt water farther inland and killing trees in what used to be thriving freshwater plains. Efforts are underway worldwide to determine exactly how quickly the creation of ghost forests is increasing. But scientists agree the startling sight of dead trees in once-healthy areas is an...

Pennsylvania Black Lives Matter protesters crashed a children’s event Monday to voice their anger over the police shooting of a black man. Activists interrupted a speech former Democratic Gov. Ed Rendell was giving to commemorate the 11th anniversary of a Philadelphia park’s founding, reports 6ABC. The protesters, angry over the fatal police shooting of David Jones, accused Rendell of having “blood on his hands” at the Franklin Square event. “And now you have the ultimate politician who is anti-black,” the activist said, turning towards Rendell. “There is nothing but blood on his hands.” North Philadelphia police officers shot Jones, a...

I have written for several years on my belief that Title IX investigations on campus are fundamentally broken. But even I’m stunned to see some of the stories emerging from college campuses these days — like the one involving USC kicker Matt Boermeester, who made the winning kick in the Rose Bowl and was shortly thereafter kicked out of school based on flawed Title IX processes. We’ll get to that in a moment, but first let’s get this out of the way early: anyone with a functional brain is in favor of equal treatment under the law and everyone is...

(NEW DELHI) — When Rani's husband died by drinking pesticide, he left the family in debt. But even if they could pay off the loans, Rani said their farming days are over. A new study suggests that India will see more such tragedies as climate change brings hotter temperatures that damage crops and exacerbate drought. For every 1 degree Celsius (1.8 degrees Fahrenheit) of warming above 20 degrees C (68 degrees F) during the growing season in India, there are 67 more suicides on average, according to the findings published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,...

Six months later...CNN's Fareed Zakaria has it figured out. Or at least he thinks he does.Donald Trump became President Trump, the host mused, because Americans wanted to stick it to the elites. "The election of Donald Trump is really a kind of class rebellion against people like us, educated professionals who live in cities, who have cosmopolitan views about things," Zakaria said."There's a part of America that is sick and tired of being told what to do by this overeducated population that Hillary Clinton perfectly represented. That's why they're sticking with him," he continued. (Free Beacon) Zakaria went on to...

New White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly believes he has convinced President Donald Trump to abandon his pledge to construct a large and lengthy wall along the border separating the United States and Mexico, according to The New Yorker. At a private meeting in tony Aspen, Colorado, two weeks ago, Kelly told a group of high-profile attendees that he had extensively discussed the border wall issue with Trump. Kelly believes he persuaded Trump to abandon his policy goal of erecting a lengthy wall along the 1,954-mile border which the United States shares with Mexico, according to The New...

The Islamic State terrorist group and climate change are viewed as the two greatest global threats in 2017, according to a survey from Pew Research published Tuesday. Furthermore, more countries view the U.S. as a threat than when Pew last asked the question in 2013. Global perception of the U.S. and the American president has plummeted since President Donald Trump took office in January. Respondents from all but one of the countries – Turkey – say either climate change or ISIS are one of the two biggest threats facing their nations today, according to the survey of 38 countries and...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Raised voices could be heard through the thick door to the Oval Office as John Kelly — then secretary of Homeland Security — offered some tough talk to President Donald Trump. Kelly, a whip-cracking retired general who was sworn in as White House chief of staff on Monday, had demanded to speak to the president alone after Trump complained loudly that the U.S. was admitting travelers from countries he viewed as high risk. Kelly first tried to explain to Trump that the admissions were standard — some people had legitimate reasons to visit the country — but...

The holdover official responsible for implementing former President Barack Obama’s failed “Countering Violent Extremism” policy at the Department of Homeland Security finally resigned just before DHS Secretary John Kelly departed for the White House. George Selim headed the now-defunct CVE program which tried to offer federal support and legal autonomy to Islamic political groups if they redirected Islamic immigrants and youths away from Islamic militancy and jihad. His resignation spotlighted Kelly’s decision to replace Obama’s failed policy with more direct government involvement in Islamic communities. Kelly may use his new White House job to make his anti-jihad strategy a government-wide...
