A Marxist student group at the pricey Swarthmore College has disbanded following some introspective efforts that led its members to learn that they were precisely what they were fighting against—both affluent and white. It’s no surprise given that Swarthmore’s students tend to be both those things. In a farewell letter acquired by Campus Reform, a former member raised issues about how the group’s founding members were “entirely white, with the exception of one person of color,” and that none of them had working class or low-income backgrounds–the very people they pretend to represent in their efforts to promote communism within...

"In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ" (1 Pet. 1:6-7). Proven faith brings joy and confidence. Although some Christians fear that trials and persecutions can only rob them of their joy, Peter taught just the opposite. In fact, he said that joy comes not in spite of trouble but because...

“For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:8). If you are a Christian, your life will produce spiritual fruit. If you want to enjoy assurance of salvation in all its richness, you need to faithfully pursue all the virtues we have been studying this past week. The reason is simple—they produce fruit in the Christian life, and nothing is a better indicator of true salvation than that. It was the criterion Christ used to distinguish between the true and false...

“Out of an abundance of caution, the Marine Corps took the prudent action not to fly our KC-130T aircraft in the wake of the mishap on July 10 until further notice,” ... The crash remains under investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration reported it lost contact with the plane when it was flying at an estimated altitude of 20,000 feet. Andy Jones, a witness to the crash, described the moments before the plane struck the ground. “At first it looked like an acrobatic plane, like a stunt plane, blowing the smoke out the back,” Jones said. “Then all of a sudden...

Paul Butler is a professor of law at Georgetown University. In an interview with The Post on Thursday, he explained the various ways in which Trump could replace Sessions, if Sessions resigned or were fired. There are four. 1. Trump nominates a new attorney general who is confirmed by the Senate.... ~snip~ 2. Trump lets Rosenstein take over. As noted above, this is not Trump’s preferred recourse, since Rosenstein appointed Mueller and could fire him now if he wanted to.... ~snip~ 3. Trump can appoint someone while the Senate is recessed.... ~snip~ This power has been abused. President Barack Obama’s...

With Sacramento rent increases among the highest in the nation, activists filled the City Council chambers this week to demand rent control and organized a Thursday protest at a Mack Road apartment complex where they say tenants are getting forced out. But they face a rent control skeptic in Mayor Darrell Steinberg. The mayor told The Bee on Thursday he has “significant concerns” about rent control, saying the city should focus more on finding money for affordable housing and giving tenants additional notice when rents increase. Steinberg said he isn’t outright dismissing rent control, but he’s worried about the “unintended...

COLUMBIA, SC Richland County Sheriff's Department says three teens have been arrested in a crime spree that was escalating from a delivery robbery to armed robberies to a near sexual assault. And the victims were targeted because of their race, according to Sheriff Leon Lott. "This was a crime spree. They would not have stopped," Lott said. "They made a statement that they did not like white people and they were only going to rob white people." Lott says the two suspects, 17-year-old Raquan Green and a 15-year-old whose name has not been released, were arrested Wednesday. The third suspect,...

"To my mind Judas Iscariot was nothing but a low, mean, premature Congressman." — Mark Twain This week, the Senate gave the public a fresh and powerful reason to view Twain as correct in his assessment. Whatever your views on ObamaCare, the simple fact is that the GOP Senate voted to repeal ObamaCare in December 2015, knowing full well that President Obama would veto the bill. That vote was conveniently timed to give Republican lawmakers the ability to go back to their states and proclaim that they had tried to repeal ObamaCare, but were thwarted by a Democratic president. "Elect...

Democrats don’t want you to find out—and that ought to be a scandal of its own. ___ Yet Democrats now have meekly and noiselessly retreated, agreeing to let both men speak to the committee in private. Why would they so suddenly be willing to let go of this moment of political opportunity? Fusion GPS. That’s the oppo-research outfit behind the infamous and discredited “Trump dossier,” ginned up by a former British spook. Fusion co-founder Glenn Simpson also was supposed to testify at the Grassley hearing, where he might have been asked in public to reveal who hired him to put...

Squid and anchovies, more commonly eaten by Britons holidaying abroad, are being drawn into UK waters in large numbers by climate change, according to major new report that suggests the nation’s long-lost bluefin tuna is also returning. However, global warming is harming sea birds, such as puffins, fulmars, terns and razorbills, as the fish they rely on are driven north or deeper as waters warm. The analysis of the impact of climate on the UK’s seas, which draws on the work of 400 scientists, found a steady rise in water temperature. It also found a clear rising trend in sea...

It is enormously frustrating that conservatives can't capture the moral high ground from the phony virtue-signaling factory that is the modern Democratic Party. Conservative policies not only work better but also are morally superior. Democrats depend on cliches and false narratives to obstruct true reform -- which includes shaming many Republicans from believing enough in their own agenda to pursue it with conviction. This is nowhere more apparent than in the endless debate over the fate of Obamacare and the future of American health care. It is unconscionable that Republicans are unable to muster a simple majority to end the...

Imran Awan was arrested as he attempted to flee the U.S. after wiring approximately $300,000 to Pakistan. His lawyer claims that the accusations of bank fraud are due to ‘anti-Muslim’ bigotry. Awan’s lawyer is wasting his time playing the Muslim card. Now Seth Rich family’s private investigator Rod Wheeler posted an interesting tweet: Follow the arrest of Awan closely. Connect the dots to “other” cases. (hint, hint) Just the beginning. Stay...
