The statement Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued Wednesday in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day suffered from one very glaring omission. The Holocaust is defined as the genocide of six million Jews at the hands of the Nazi regime and its collaborators, but in his statement, Trudeau did not mention the words "Jew" or "anti-Semitism" once. Instead, the Liberal leader offered "tribute to the memory of the millions of victims murdered during the Holocaust," adding that Canada honors "those who survived atrocities at the hands of the Nazi regime, and welcome their courageous stories of hope and perseverance." ...

About 15 years ago, I said something nasty on CNN about Donald Trump's hair. I can't now remember the context, assuming there was one. In any case, Trump saw it and left a message the next day. "It's true you have better hair than I do," Trump said matter-of-factly. "But I get more pussy than you do." At the time, I'd never met Trump and I remember feeling amused but also surprised he'd say something like that. Now the pattern seems entirely familiar. The message had all the hallmarks of a Trump attack: shocking, vulgar and indisputably true. Not everyone...

Imagine sacrificing to send your children off to college---forking over thousands of dollars, so they can have a future. Then they end up in an introduction to psychology class…where they are taught that Christians are more dangerous than radical Islam. At a recent "Introduction to Psychology" class at the University of California, Merced, Dr. Ross Avila raised quite a few eyebrows. Thecollegefix.com (1/11/16) reported on this class, which happened this past fall. Avila can be heard to claim that terrorism on American soil by foreigners, e.g., Muslims from other countries, is a myth (beyond 9/11) and that white Christian men commit...

The University of Missouri’s board announced the move just days after prosecutors brought third-degree assault charges against her. Following a special board meeting Thursday, the University of Missouri Board of Curators declared Click "suspended pending further investigation." The board didn't indicate whether she will be paid or not during her suspension. On Monday, Click was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor to which she has pleaded not guilty.

Going forward, every piece about Republican frontrunner Donald Trump published at the left-wing Huffington Post will now include a note attacking the billionaire businessman as “a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist, birther and bully who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims,†according to Politico. “Yes, we’re planning to add this note to all future stories about Trump,†the spokesperson said. “No other candidate has called for banning 1.6 billion people from the country! If any other candidate makes such a proposal, we’ll append a note under pieces about them.†The full HuffPo note reads: Note to our readers: Donald...

Saeed Abedini was one of four Americans released in Iran under a negotiated prisoner exchange on Jan. 16. The U.S. agreed to free seven Iranians as part of the agreement.

The cement circular urinal is out in the open, though plants and a screen offer some privacy. It's a welcome addition for the park that had just three toilets, which led many to relieve themselves in bushes and on buildings. ... San Francisco has long, sometimes creative, history of dealing with public urination. In 2002, the city increased the possible fine for the crime up to $500, but that did little to deter it. ... Solar-powered toilets roll through city streets several afternoons a week. And city crews have inspected 10,000 light posts to make sure they won't fall over...

In my column about a month ago, I expressed the opinion that the rise of Donald Trump is much more a function of Democrat policies than of Republican ones. However, I also opined that the GOP bears responsibility for their utter fecklessness in response to the Left's cultural and political anschluss. In the interim, the Right's pundits, led by National Review, have come out definitively and explicitly against Donald Trump, and articulated in no uncertain terms why no conservative voter should support him. These arguments have been met with a fusillade of raspberries and a barrage of shrugs from the...

Supermajors Shell and Italian Eni could be facing the loss of one of the biggest offshore oil exploration blocks in Nigeria, putting an estimated 9 billion barrels of crude oil at risk. As the new Nigerian government launches a rampaging anticorruption campaign, local media are reporting government recommendations to reclaim block OPL 245 from oil giants Shell and Eni. Nigerian Justice Minister and Attorney General Abubakar Malami is behind the recommendation, and is a key figure advising the government on the case. At issue is how Shell and Eni landed the block in the first place—a controversial deal that is...

Calories consumed minus calories burned: it's the simple formula for weight loss or gain. But dieters often find that it doesn't work. Cynthia Graber and Nicola Twilley of Gastropod investigate. "For me, a calorie is a unit of measurement that's a real pain in the rear." Bo Nash is 38. He lives in Arlington, Texas, where he's a technology director for a textbook publisher. He has a wife and child. And he's 5'10" and 245 lbs -- which means he is classed as obese. In an effort to lose weight, Nash uses an app to record the calories he consumes...

The call from Lincoln High School’s principal’s office came unexpectedly, as they often do. Cedrick Argueta’s friends joked that he might be in trouble. Cedrick didn’t think so. He was right. It turned out that Cedrick, the son of a Salvadoran maintenance worker and a Filipina nurse, had scored perfectly on his Advanced Placement Calculus exam. Of the 302,531 students to take the notoriously mind-crushing test, he was one of only 12 to earn every single point.

WASHINGTON -- In reading Paul Johnson's masterful "Art: A New History," I came across a startling number of art masters who did bodies sublimely, hands and even landscapes brilliantly, but who could not plausibly paint a human face. Some of the artists recognized this and had their subjects look over their shoulder or off to the horizon, or were painted behind a floppy hat. Nonetheless the artists are esteemed as great, though limited. That thought ran through my mind when I first encountered National Review's manifesto on Donald Trump. Some of these accomplished writers have a knack for political ideology,...

MASON CITY, Iowa – Gun sales in Iowa are on the rise, with one local sheriff speculating it’s due to those renewing. The Des Moines Register shows gun sales up by 30 percent since November. Leading to more than 26,000 background checks during the month of December alone. That’s more than the past year. Sheriff Kevin Pals says he’s seen a surge of people stopping in and that’s due to their five year carrying permit expiring this year. He says it takes a lot of work to handle the increase.

By Craig Johnson Moreover, thou shalt choose able men, such as fear God, Men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them. Exodus 18:21 Based on scripture, Cruz or Trump? My last article, TRUMP, CARSON, CRUZ: CHAMPION MATERIAL? , was a character analysis of the top three outsider Presidential Candidates. It was also an explanation of why, during our "Crisis" eras, Americans turn to men with the qualities that each one of them possesses. We have arrived here again. The harshness of the times makes all of the Establishment Candidates look like "Low-Fat Republicans." While Dr. Carson is not...

France restricts new documentary on Islamic terror to adults onlyFrance has restricted access to a new documentary on radical Islam by giving it the French equivalent of an NC-17 film rating, The New York Times reports. The French Culture Ministry said Wednesday that "Salafistes," which explores life under Sharia law and the roots of extremist groups like ISIS and the Salafists, is inappropriate for minors due to "sometimes unbearable" scenes that are "degrading to human dignity," the newspaper adds. Only adults 18 and over will be able to see the film in theaters.

The culture wars rage on in the battle over marriage. Despite the Supreme Court's decision to legalize "same-sex" marriage last summer, the battles over this radical ruling show no signs of letting up. Two of the victims of the "tolerance police" in New York state are Robert and Cynthia Gifford. The Giffords, owners of a small farm in upstate NY, occasionally allowed their farm to be used for wedding ceremonies. But when a lesbian couple called them to use the facility, that's when the trouble began. A couple who hosts occasional wedding ceremonies on their New York farm have lost...
