The five terrorists who in 2013 threw rocks at the car of the Biton family and critically wounded two-year-old Adelle, ultimately resulting in her death two years later, were on Thursday sent to 15 years in prison after being convicted of manslaughter rather than murder. It was reported in December that the terrorists’ attorneys signed a plea bargain under which all five terrorists will confess to and be convicted of manslaughter, receive a prison sentence of 15 years and each will pay 30,000 shekels to the Biton family. The plea bargain was approved by the Military Court in Samaria.

Migrant children in the government’s care were placed in U.S. homes and left vulnerable to human trafficking due to sometimes non-existent screening by the Department of Health and Human Services, according to a congressional report released Thursday. The investigation says HHS failed to run background checks on the adults in the sponsors’ households, failed to visit sponsors’ homes and failed to realize some sponsors were accumulating multiple unrelated children, which can be a sign of human trafficking.

In January, 2006 - when promoting his Oscar-winning (yes, Oscar-winning) documentary, An Inconvenient Truth - Gore declared that unless we took "drastic measures" to reduce greenhouse gasses, the world would reach a "point of no return" in a mere ten years. He called it a "true planetary emergency." Well, the ten years passed today, we're still here, and the climate activists have postponed the apocalypse. Again.

Mathieu Ossendrijver of Humboldt University in Berlin found the tablet while combing through the collections at the British Museum. The written record gives instructions for estimating the area under a curve by finding the area of trapezoids drawn underneath. Using those calculations, the tablet shows how to find the distance Jupiter has traveled in a given interval of time. Until now, this kind of use of trapezoids wasn't known to exist before the 14th century. ... By 400 B.C. Babylonian astronomers had worked out a coordinate system using the ecliptic, the region of the sky the sun and planets move...

With its engineers involved in more than 2,000 open source projects, you'd have to agree that open source has more than a foothold at Microsoft these days. Most recently, for example, the browser team made the Chakra JavaScript engine that powers both Edge and Internet Explorer open source, for a very practical reason. Node, the popular JavaScript runtime, currently works only with Google's V8 JavaScript engine. With Chakra now open source, Microsoft can take the fork of Node that it created to run on Chakra and contribute it back to the project -- which means developers who use Node will...

GILBERT -- Lt. Gov. Henry McMaster shook up the Republican establishment -- and his close ally, Gov. Nikki Haley -- by making a move few saw coming: endorsing Donald Trump for president. "He's a man of action," McMaster said of Trump. "He speaks in words that everybody understands. It's a delightful thing to see." McMaster is the highest ranking state officer in the U.S. to endorse Trump. He's also one of South Carolina's biggest so-called "establishment" leaders, having chaired the state Republican Party for nine years. McMaster introduced Trump during his campaign rally Wednesday at the Harmon Tree Farm in...

Has anyone else encountered known democRat acquaintances who try to encourage you to vote for Jeb Bush in the primaries? I have had three such encounters from people who admit that they are going to vote for Hillary Clinton. The U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) is providing Department of Defense (DOD) personnel with guidance for personal protective measures in response to the mosquito-borne Zika virus outbreak in its area of operation (AOR). Health officials have tied the Zika virus to a neurological disorder that makes pregnant women and their babies particularly vulnerable. The Zika-linked malady, known as microcephaly, is a rare birth defect in which babies are born with smaller heads than normal and often have developmental problems. "Pregnant DoD employees and beneficiaries in Zika affected areas will be offered voluntary relocation out of the affected areas," Army Col. Lisa...

A Review of Presidential Debate Questions in the Modern Era The Nixon-Kennedy Debates Can you tell if there is any hostility, bias, or gotchas in the questions over time? I will use a 1-5 point system to "rate" the question, and then normalize and "score" the fairness of the overall debate. A perfectly neutral debate should score 50/50. Scoring System 1=Biased against the candidate. Intended to create conflict with others, or make the candidate defensive or unappealing. 2=Mostly fair, but makes unnecessary snipes at the candidate. 3=A generally fair question. 4=Mostly fair, but gives the candidate an intentional opportunity to...

Donald Trump's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski said on Thursday that his candidate would be "happy" to debate Ted Cruz once the Texas senator gets a federal judge to rule him eligible to run for president. "Once you've gotten that ruling from the federal judge and you're the last man standing in this presidential contest next to Donald Trump, we'll be happy to have a debate with you one-on-one, anywhere you want, because that's the way the system works," Lewandowski said. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. On these principles our Founding Fathers established a moral center for a young nation that has gone on to serve as a blueprint for overwhelming prosperity. And while the Constitution has been plenty tested by the changing demands of our country's citizens, I believe that no single group has strayed further from the intentions of our Founding Fathers than ISIS. How could this happen? How could those involved in ISIS allow themselves to consistently miss the mark when it comes to the political, religious, and military ideals represented by our nation's early leaders?...
