MASON CITY, Iowa – Gun sales in Iowa are on the rise, with one local sheriff speculating it’s due to those renewing.
The Des Moines Register shows gun sales up by 30 percent since November. Leading to more than 26,000 background checks during the month of December alone. That’s more than the past year. Sheriff Kevin Pals says he’s seen a surge of people stopping in and that’s due to their five year carrying permit expiring this year. He says it takes a lot of work to handle the increase.
