Ted Cruz is intelligent, articulate, and well-prepared to defend and protect the Constitution as the next president of the United States. He entered the national spotlight during his contentious 2012 run for the Senate, but it’s worth taking a look at his resume because it highlights long-standing and staunch support of conservative principles...

In 2011, Donald Trump was scheduled to moderate a debate on Newsmax TV. During the preparations for the debate Trump went on with Megyn Kelly and lamented that only two candidates had agreed to be in the Des Moines debate at the end of December, days before the Iowa Primary. Megyn Kelly asked Trump what his thoughts were on only two candidates confirming for his debate. He told Kelly, "we're not seeing a lot of courage here are we?" Trump continued, "not lots of courage, these Republicans are supposed to be brave." Trump also told Kelly that she "had done...

This is an excerpt from a larger Asra Nomani piece on honor killings in the Wall Street Journal. It's quite a dark look at what life under Islamic mores is like for women. In one particularly poignant chapter, Ms. Zoepf steps through the doors of a girls' prison in Syria, where 16-year-old Zahra al-Azzo was jailed for being raped. (That's right, they jailed her.) The prison is a sort of holding facility for girls like Zahra who are at risk of being murdered by their families in a so-called honor killing. Yet there is little to protect the young...

FOX News debate anchors knew they would have a record audience tune in to their Republican debate because of Donald Trump. So, in November, they purposely planned several zingers to get under his skin. Then they all congratulated themselves for their debate antics. And they opened the floodgates of hell on the candidates for future debates by liberal anchors. They are shameless. The anchors didn't even ask a question on the Obama economy, the worst recovery since the Great Depression, until 73 minutes into the debate. The FOX moderators won over Media Matters, who said, "The Fox News moderators appeared...

In 2012, Mitt Romney ran on a solidly conservative platform and rhetoric, just as Trump is doing now. Yet most (IMO) FReepers agreed with Jim Robinson in vigorously opposing Romney during the primaries and supporting him, if at all, only with nose firmly held in the general election. Why? Because Romney had a record, and it was on far too many matters a liberal record. Well, Trump's many liberal public statements are at least as fresh as Romney's were ... and in some cases are ongoing (cf. "Donald Trump a Typical New York City Liberal Then and Now" - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3385906/posts)....

Fox News, you’ve just been TrumpedLove him or hate him you’ve got to admire The Donald’s style. It’s not like he hasn’t made it perfectly clear: if you eff with him he will eff with you. So when Fox put out a pre-debate snarky comment about Trump yesterday: "We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president. A nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should...

Ronald Reagan had nearly defeated incumbent President Gerald Ford, and had the Republican establishment had to vote heavily for Ford to outweigh the elected delegates in order to nominate Ford. Reagan adopted a strategy of avoiding the establishment events altogether, not just the Iowa debate. And he went on to lose Iowa. And he plummeted in the polls in Massacusetts and South Carolina. In New Hampshire, Reagan shifted tactics. He realized he needed to debate... and defeat... Bush. The Nashua Telegraph agreed to sponsor a debate between Bush and Reagan. Careful not to violate RNC rules, Reagan instead offered to...

"Unbelievable", "embarrassing" even "dangerous" are some of the words the financial elite gathered at the World Economic Forum conference in the Swiss resort of Davos have been using to describe U.S. Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump. Although some said they still expected his campaign to founder before his party picks its nominee for the November election many said it was no longer unthinkable that he could be the Republican candidate. Some noted that whatever the outcome, a heated campaign, which has also seen self-proclaimed Socialist Bernie Sanders provide a tough challenge to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the...

The short answer is, probably not. But it'll take you a while to get there. The New York Times dropped a story about Ted Cruz's first Senate campaign, noting that Ted Cruz's million-dollar loan to his initial Senate campaign was made possible by his wife's employer, Goldman Sachs, who floated Ted and his wife a significant loan. The loan remains outstanding - he and his wife still owe somewhere between $50K and $100K on it - and it turns out that Cruz, allegedly, failed to disclose the loan in campaign filings. A review of personal financial disclosures that Mr. Cruz filed...

In the wake of Donald Trump’s endorsement by evangelical leader and Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr., Republican rival Jeb Bush had some strong words for the real estate mogul and his faith, calling him a “flip-flopper." "Trump views all this not from a position of his faith, he views it all as politics. I think faith goes way beyond politics,†he said to reporters following his campaign rally. When asked by reporters if Bush thinks that Trump is a Christian, he said that he doesn’t. “No, I don’t know what he is," he said. "I don’t think he has...

"My guess is that people who bought advertising time thinking that Donald Trump was going to be on the stage are going to be very disappointed when nobody decides to watch that GOP debate," Lewandowski said Wednesday on "Good Morning America." [....] The GOP frontrunner also lambasted Fox for insulting him. He said the network's statement on Tuesday afternoon was "a disgrace to good broadcasting and journalism" and asked "Who would ever say something so nasty and dumb." Who? Roger Ailes is who. For days Trump had been calling Kelly "biased" and claiming she shouldn't be allowed to moderate the...
