Grant County, Oregon Glenn Palmer called the group occupying buildings at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge 'patriots'. He was interviewed by the "Blue Mountain Eagle". Palmer has been an outspoken critic of federal government overreach and he's even written to Vice-President Joe Biden about gun control. Members of the Citizens for Constitutional Freedom group at the refuge traveled to Grant County to ask Palmer to come over to Harney County to help them. But Palmer said he wouldn't come there without permission from Sheriff Dave Ward, but Ward told Palmer he was only welcome if he would 'shame and humiliate...

When David Bowie died after a very private fight with liver cancer, obituary writers churned out words like "icon" and "legend" and "subversive." Despite a life of very fluid explorations of musicality and sexuality and spirituality, the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano celebrated Bowie as "never banal," displaying an "artistic rigor" which seemed to contradict the sexually "ambiguous image" he presented to "attract the attention of the media." This star-struck eulogy ignored Bowie's 2013 album "The Next Day." His "artistic rigor" included a nasty anti-Catholic video, starring actor Gary Oldman as an angry priest. It begins with this priest punching a...

We now know that there was no mechanical problem with the two U.S. Navy boats the Iranians captured. Our sailors were treated like prisoners while the American president refused to even acknowledge the incident in his State of the Union address. The Obama Administration claimed that Iran's quick release of our sailors was proof of a new and better relationship with the Iranians. Please pay no attention to the number of Americans being held in Iranian prisons for, among other things, reporting on Iran for American newspapers. Were there a Republican in the White House, the American media would provide...

NBC News journalists - including veteran reporter Andrea Mitchell - conducted interviews last week with Juanita Broaddrick, the Arkansas woman who says Bill Clinton raped her in 1978, but decided not to go forward with a story, claiming that there was not "anything new" to report. "When Juanita Broaddrick went public last week, NBC News sent an associate producer to Arkansas to see if there was anything new in her story. We established there was not, and decided not to pursue it any further," an NBC spokesperson told Buzzfeed News. Broaddrick, a 73-year-old retired nursing home administrator, spoke out on...

The German government appears to be in full damage-control mode post-Cologne sex attacks, with the official journal of the state propaganda bureau publishing an editorial claiming Mohammed was a feminist, and that as of yet there has been no evidence the increase in sex attacks in Germany has been caused by refugees. The article in Fluter (Floodlight) magazine, the trendy journal for young Germans published by the Federal Agency for Civic Education is the work of Indian heritage German journalist Khola Maryam Hubsch, a vocal advocate for Islam in German public life. Ms. Hubsch has been at the forefront of...

Hillary Clinton and her allies furiously and famously defended her husband's sexual predations by targeting the women Bill victimized with media campaigns designed to portray Bill's victims as lying, conniving bimbos. The best example of such targeting was the memorable television interview with James Carville, a longtime Clinton hatchet man, where he made this statement in regard to the sexual harassment from Bill reported by Paula Jones, an Arkansas state employee: "Drag a hundred dollar bill through a trailer park, you never know what you'll find."That dismissive, condescending statement epitomized the theme of the Hillary-directed media response to the Bimbo...

Only one Wisconsin U.S. Representative has lost a primary since 1950 and just four others have won by less than double-digits For the past few weeks there has been chatter around Wisconsin that Tea Party groups are preparing to run a primary challenger against Republican U.S. Representative Paul Ryan due in part to the nearly $2 trillion spending bill that passed last month under his leadership. Although this is now a post-Eric Cantor political environment in which no powerful GOP leader can be labeled 'invincible' in a renomination bid, there is little reason to believe Speaker Ryan will suffer a...

As is the case with a fair number of conservative talk show hosts, I am a recovering liberal. Now in my mid 50's I made the transition in my early 30's. I certainly have no regrets about rejecting an ideology I could no longer defend. But I would give anything to, for just one moment, experience what it's like for liberals to see Paul Ryan, the man they depicted throwing granny off a cliff, being called a RINO and being targeted by some on the right for a primary challenge. I have been entirely dismissive of the notion that Ryan...

Received wisdom is what “everybody knows†is true without anyone having to think about it. Received wisdom has a lot of defense mechanisms: for example, trading in unexamined assumptions, avoiding contrary evidence, dismissing the need of evidence at all, or demonizing those who question it. Question-begging slogans are another. Mantras like “nothing to do with Islam†or “war on women†substitute for evidence and analysis. Another is “you can’t say that,†used to dismiss or marginalize comments or proposed policies by assuming disastrous consequences, or implying that saying such things is morally repugnant and, to quote Obama’s favorite obfuscation, “doesn’t...

The hope was that Rubio would rise and Cruz and Trump would stumble. That didn't happen. The defining development of the sixth Republican presidential primary debate was this: For the first time since the campaign entered its late stage, Ted Cruz was willing to skirmish with Donald Trump, and he did it more effectively than any of the dozen-plus other candidates who have tried before him. He also made an uncharacteristic error. Halfway through the evening, the Texas senator reprised a campaign trail attack on Trump's "New York values," knowing that Trump would retaliate by characterizing it as a slander...

Dalia Mogahed, formerly Barack Obama’s adviser on Muslim affairs, appeared on Trevor Noah’s sinking-like-a-stone Daily Show last week, to explain to a worshipful Noah and an adoring audience that the hijab represented nothing more or less than the “privatization of women’s sexuality†– and who on earth but the most benighted lout could possibly be against that? The burning outrage of Mogahed’s words was probably missed by most Daily Show viewers. It should not be missed by FrontPage readers.

This week, Harney County Fire Marshall Chris Briels resigned after discovering undercover FBI agents posing as militia members near the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, which has been the site of a standoff for weeks now. According to Briels, he found FBI agents who were impersonating militia members lurking around the town’s armory. When he inquired about the undercover operation with county Judge Steve Grasty he was told to back off. Just before this discovery was made, there were reports of people who looked like militia harassing locals, which is uncharacteristic of the protesters who initially assembled at the refuge. It...
