As is the case with a fair number of conservative talk show hosts, I am a recovering liberal. Now in my mid 50's I made the transition in my early 30's. I certainly have no regrets about rejecting an ideology I could no longer defend. But I would give anything to, for just one moment, experience what it's like for liberals to see Paul Ryan, the man they depicted throwing granny off a cliff, being called a RINO and being targeted by some on the right for a primary challenge.
I have been entirely dismissive of the notion that Ryan could face a serious primary challenger and continue to be. But it appears that James Murphy, a Tea Party activist from the Green Bay area, several hours from Ryan's Southeast Wisconsin district, has decided he's answering God's calling by spearheading the Ryan primary effort. The motivation, of course, is Ryan, as newly-minted Speaker of the House, championed an Omnibus bill that’s extremely unpopular with the conservative base.
I am quite familiar with Murphy. He's a well-intentioned soul who was very much involved in the formation of the Tea Party movement in Northeast Wisconsin in 2009. Murphy presents himself as an influential figure in the movement despite the fact that most mainstream conservatives in the area have kept their distance from him for some time. Murphy included me on an email this week that suggests the effort to primary Ryan is gaining traction (I have not bothered to correct Murphy's grammar and spelling):

Lots of people nationwide will support Ryan’s opponent in the primary.

He reveals himself as an establishment cretin.
So many ‘mainstream’ BS artists call themselves conservative that it’s no wonder that the electorate has ‘distanced’ themselves from conservatism so as not to appear associated with these ‘R’ rodents.
Lyin’ Ryan needs to be Cantorized
When Boehner was in his last primary in OH there just happened to be six candidates challenging him on the ballot.
It was no coincidence, the Establishment wanted to split the opposition vote.
