Users need to upgrade to Windows 8.1, Internet Explorer 11 Microsoft is ending support for Windows 8 and older versions of Internet Explorer today. Windows 8 users who haven't upgraded to Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer users who aren't running the latest version of the web browser -- IE 11, in most cases -- will no longer have access to patches and updates to keep their software secure from malware and hackers when new vulnerabilities are discovered. In his latest interview with talk-host Michael Savage, Republican presidential primary front-runner Donald Trump was asked what he will do if the GOP establishment tries to "cut him out" of the nomination. Trump drew on his experience hosting prizefights, including 17 bouts featuring Mike Tyson. "When the fighter goes into the other fighter's home territory, his home territory, they'll always say, the only way I'm going to win is, 'I gotta knock him out,'" he explained. "The way you knock him out is to just win the primaries. If I win the primaries, if I can win in Iowa and...

US researchers say they have developed a technique that can significantly improve the efficiency of the traditional incandescent lightbulb. These older bulbs have been phased out in many countries because they waste huge amounts of energy as heat. But scientists at MIT have found a way of recycling the waste energy and focussing it back on the filament where it is re-emitted as visible light. The development has been reported in the journal Nature Nanotechnology. Little has changed in the technology of the incandescent lightbulb since they were commercially developed by Thomas Edison in the US in the 1880s. Incandescent...

The Founding Fathers never explicitly defined the term "Natural Born Citizen." So we are left to use our common sense, and search the phrase's origins. To take it back as far as it will go requires us to look at the book of Deuteronomy. Israel demanded a king, and God gave them one, but he gave them some parameters: You shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses, one from among your countrymen you shall set as king over yourselves; you may not put a foreigner over yourselves who is not your countryman (Deuteronomy 17:15)....

Donald Trump has been called a lot of things in his time, but rarely have his critics stooped quite as low as this. At a rally in South Carolina last week, a Trump aide removed a handwritten sign from a man in the crowd after it was noticed it bore an egregious claim: Trump likes Nickelback.

Among the hard lessons of our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, surely one of them is that it’s foolish to expect that backward and often barbaric societies can be transformed into functioning liberal democracies. So why do liberals seem so surprised that so many people from these societies behave in barbaric ways after they’ve shoved their way into the West? As I write, 516 criminal complaints have been filed in Germany against men of mainly North African or Arab origin who went on a New Year’s Eve sexual-assault rampage in the city of Cologne. ... A 2013 Pew survey of...

The liberal media seem perplexed that President Obama plans to deviate from his usual State of the Union practice of "asking" Congress for a laundry list of policy proposals and "not talking about himself." You heard me right; the narrative is that Obama hasn't talked about himself in previous SOTUs. If that's their perception, can you imagine what an ego-fest -- a virtual orgy of self-congratulation -- this could be? But enough about that for now. I just ask that you sympathize with those of us who feel as if we have to watch it because it promises to be...

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem Character Studies From The Bible Paul (Paul's Letter to The Romans) 18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19 For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of...

The great Jack Kemp used to say about politicians that "voters don't care what you know until they know that you care." Republicans say they care about the poor and minorities, but do they, really? We have a test case in front of us right now over whether the congressional leadership will renew the Washington D.C. school voucher program. The program's budget is only $25 million, or less than 0.1 percent of federal education spending. The scholarship program was created in 2004 and was the handiwork of John Boehner and President George W. Bush. The results have been uniformly positive...

Birth of U.S. Citizens Abroad A child born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents may acquire U.S. citizenship at birth if certain statutory requirements are met. The child’s parents should contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate to apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America (CRBA) to document that the child is a U.S. citizen. If the U.S. embassy or consulate determines that the child acquired U.S. citizenship at birth, a consular officer will approve the CRBA application and the Department of State will issue a CRBA, also...

The latest release of Hillary Clinton’s emails raises new questions about her friend Sidney Blumenthal's "role" in the Clinton orbit, including whether he planned to work simultaneously at the State Department and the Clinton Foundation. The latest release of Clinton's State Department emails includes a June 28, 2009 memo from Blumenthal to Clinton entitled "My role, Germany, Iran, etc." In it, Blumenthal revealed to Clinton that he had talked to Doug Band, a top aide to former President Bill Clinton and, at the time, an adviser at the Clinton Foundation. "I spoke with Doug Band yesterday, discussed things with him,...

Health Care: The White House sees this year's ObamaCare enrollment as another big win. But even the law's most ardent supporters — or, perhaps, especially those people — should be worried about the numbers. The president is sure to laud ObamaCare at his final State of the Union speech on Tuesday. And no doubt he'll boast about the 11.3 million people enrolled in an ObamaCare exchange by the end of the year....

"ALL that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." This famous quote was from British statesman Edmund Burke, who was born JANUARY 12, 1729. He was considered the most influential orator in the House of Commons.Edmund Burke stands out in history for, as a member of the British Parliament, he defended the rights of the American colonies and strongly opposed the slave trade. As the bloody French Revolution progressed, Edmund Burke wrote in "A Letter to a Member of the National Assembly," 1791: "What is liberty without wisdom and without virtue? It is the...

Nearly 70% of lottery winners end up broke within seven years. Even worse, several winners have died tragically or witnessed those close to them suffer. Edward Ugel, author of the book "Money for Nothing: One Man's Journey Through the Dark Side of Lottery Millions," told the Daily Beast of the thousands of lottery winners he's known, few were happy and only a small number lived happily ever after. "You would be blown away to see how many winners wish they'd never won," Ugel said. One of those unlucky winners was Abraham Shakespeare. Just weeks before Shakespeare was killed, he told his...

For all those who revel in the fact that there are 374 days until President Obama finally gets the hell out of the White House, a cautionary note: Obama and his colleagues are rigging the bureaucracy so that their unique brand of "hope and change" extends far beyond their tenure. The latest evidence: Attorney General Loretta Lynch told New York Magazine this week, "My goal is to position the [Department of Justice] where it will carry on in all of these issues long after myself and my team have moved on." She was responding specifically to questions about how she...
