Monica Migliorino Miller and several other pro-lifers set up a display of aborted babies outside the abortion clinic where they were found. Miller and the others had retrieved the aborted babies from the clinic’s trash. Pro-Choice columnist Linda Gorov of the Chicago Sun-Times wrote about the display: All the antiabortion pickets in the world cannot convey the loss you feel when you look at a 10 week old fetus in the bright sun light. You can be for abortion or against abortion. It doesn’t matter. You look and you look away and you feel lousy for a long time afterward....

Vince Lombardi’s brilliance as a football coach was a direct result of his dedication to Catholicism In the middle of winter, between Epiphany and Ash Wednesday, a secular ritual of nearly fifty years has become part of the American cultural scene. It is called the Super Bowl, the championship game of the interminably long National Football League season. Two weeks of incessant television extravaganza lead up to the game itself, which ends with the winner being awarded the Lombardi Trophy named for a man now 44 years dead but still considered by many to be the greatest football coach in...

Bill Cosby broke his silence Friday, albeit briefly, to lecture the media on remaining “neutral” and to say that his wife is standing by him. Reached at his Massachusetts home, the star declined to address the rape and sex abuse allegations from an ever-growing list of women that now includes supermodel Beverly Johnson. Instead, Cosby, 77, said that the African-American media — for which this reporter often writes — should be impartial. “Let me say this. I only expect the black media to uphold the standards of excellence in journalism and when you do that you have to go in...

Brian Kemper. Kristan Hawkins. Mark Crutcher. Joe Scheidler. If you’re actively Pro-Life, these are the household names of individuals who have dedicated their entire lives to abolishing abortion. Maybe they elicit fond personal memories from when you’ve met or worked with them at a March for Life event. Maybe you’ve read their op-eds in national publications. Maybe you’ve admired them for their courage in facing the abortion movement head-on. But, you have likely never thought of them as bullies. In fact, none of them are “blustering, quarrelsome, overbearing” people who “habitually badger and intimidate smaller or weaker people” (which is...

You can follow live coverage of the shower at the link. They are using a meteor shower radio, from their listening post in New Mexico, to listen when the meteors strike the atmosphere and leave an ionized gas trail that reflects radio waves. The radiant is located in the constellation of Gemini which is in the NW direction about 40 degrees above the horizon. Dress warmly!

Welcome to California, home of the finest, most progressive school system in the country. And if your 13 and 14 year old children are attending Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California, they can learn all sorts of amazing things. For example, they are probably right up to date on the best water based lubricants for intercourse, the best way to beat a pesky, sexually transmitted infection, and the wide range of options they have regarding which gender they would like to be. Along with local area groups, some parents are irate that their childrenÂ’s sex ed class at Acalanes High...

A pastor in England faced a hearing in court in which he is accused of keeping a woman as a sex slave and forcing her to have an abortion. While abortion is legalized in many nations under the auspices of a “right to choose,” the reality is that a large percentage of women who get abortions are forced, pressured or coerced into getting them. In this case, Gilbert Deya, 61, who runs a ministry outfit named after himself, is charged with four counts of rape, one of attempted rape, two of sexual assault and one of battery. His church reportedly...

The situation between New York City police and the Mayor’s office has clearly reached a critical point. While they have disagreed on several things in the recent past, there always seemed to be some level of cooperation remaining, or at least the willingness to maintain a public patina of such when the cameras were turned on. But after Bill de Blasio’s response in the wake of Eric Garner’s death, it seems that city’s finest have had enough. A police union in the Big Apple has asked their members to sign a waiver stating their wishes that Hizonor refrain from...

To save time and syllables, we’re going journo-green today. Thus “common sense” will be replaced by “it,” as in “getting it.” And that’s the point: “it” doesn’t matter, not anymore. It doesn’t matter that the absurd, the grossly inaccurate and the just plain stupid easily can be eliminated. It is what it is. And that’s it. There will be no deviation from, let alone elimination of, the ridiculous, no matter how self-evident.

Angry parents of children at a California high school have slammed a sex education class — taught by employees of Planned Parenthood — that they claim encourages young teens to have sex. Parents of 13- and 14-year-olds at Acalanes High School in Lafayette are furious at the methods and materials being used to teach sex-ed without their prior knowledge or consent, FoxNews.com reported. The students are handed worksheets that include a checklist titled, "Sex Check! Are You Ready For Sex?" The document asks the young teens, both girls and boys, if they have water-based lubricants and condoms, and if they...

We need law and policing reform, but first we have to want to end state-sanctioned violence against African-Americans. As the countless protests, tear gas, National Guard deployments and looting proved, police brutality provokes more anger than other outrages because it’s the supreme violation of our individual rights in a democracy. It is the state actor, as another person, violently snatching our breath away “under color of law.” That the state’s victims throughout our history have been overwhelmingly African-American stamps it as an indelible “badge of slavery,” which means that nothing makes you feel more black in America than experiencing police...

A couple in Australia has aborted their unborn child at 28 weeks after learning that the baby would be born with a deformed left hand. Mind you, at 28 weeks a baby has over a 90% chance of surviving outside the womb with proper healthcare. But the mother said she was "really, really depressed" about the baby's diagnosis so that would seem to trump the illegality or immorality of late-term abortions. The mother said she believed she would feel guilty for allowing a baby to live with a disability. "I grew up with many people who were disabled, and… there...

Think about it. The left is constantly trying to portray college fraternities as being chock full of white guys who use their "privilege" to demean women to the extent of mass raping them. So how many such cases of college frat gang rape have been found? Try ZERO. The left had high hopes with the Rolling Stoned UVA frat alleged rape case but that fairy tale has fallen apart. If there were instances of rapes at college frat parties wouldn't they have already been discovered and PROVEN? Therefore I have to conclude that the safest place for women on campuses...

British soldiers have “lost their capability” to interrogate terrorist insurgents because of strict new rules on questioning that even ban shouting in captives’ ears, military chiefs have warned. The rules — detailed in court papers obtained by The Telegraph — also prevent military intelligence officers from banging their fists on tables or walls, or using “insulting words” when interrogating a suspect. The regulations replaced a previous policy that had to be withdrawn after a series of legal challenges and the death in custody of Baha Mousa, an Iraqi detainee in Basra. But there is growing disquiet within the ranks that...

A Scottish monk has been arrested for distributing a series of leaflets in the Cambridgeshire area critical of homosexuality, fornication, contraception, euthanasia, abortion, and divorce. Brother Damon Jonah Kelly, head of the Glasgow based charity the Black Hermits, was arrested by Cambridgeshire Police on December 8 on suspicion of a Section 5 (religious/racial) public order offence after he wrote a letter to the homosexual news publication, Pink News, claiming responsibility for the distribution of leaflets in the city of Ely, as well as in Cambridge, King’s Lynn and several other Cambridgeshire towns and cities. Initially police declined to take any...

SALEM, N.H. — John York, who owns a small printing business here, nearly fell out of his chair the other day when he opened his electric bill. For October, he had paid $376. For November, with virtually no change in his volume of work and without having turned up the thermostat in his two-room shop, his bill came to $788, a staggering increase of 110 percent. “This is insane,” he said, shaking his head. “We can’t go on like this.” For months, utility companies across New England have been warning customers to expect sharp price increases, for which the companies...

It’s less than a week until The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies hits the theaters, putting an end to the six-part Middle Earth saga that began with The Lord Of The Rings trilogy in 2001, and continued with The Hobbit trilogy in 2012. So does the series do a good job of tying up all the loose ends in the franchise? Early reviews seem to indicate the third Hobbit film to be not only the best in the trilogy, but on par with that of the original trilogy.

It seems I’ve run afoul of the atheist portal here at Patheos One. More. Time. Nobody sticks in these folks’ collective craw more than I do. They love to hate me and they love to trash me. If one of them was slowly slipping away, I think the doc could show them one of my blog posts to get their poor little heart started beating again. I’m not sure how I do it, and to be honest, I don’t care, but I do get under their skin. They react to me the way Tribbles react to Klingons. I’ve studiously ignored...
