  • Pew poll confirms amnesty a danger to gun rights

Survey results made public Wednesday by Pew Research Center show public support for protecting gun rights on the rise across all demographics except for two notable categories, “liberal Democrats” and “Hispanics.” [A]ttitudes expressed by Hispanics show overwhelming rejection of pro-gun political sentiment. With only 25 percent favoring laws protecting the right to own guns, 71 percent want government to “control ownership.” That tracks with warnings issued by Gun Owners of America, curiously alone among national gun rights advocacy groups. GOA has warned that amnesty for illegal aliens, and a "pathway to citizenship," will provide for millions of new anti-gun voters...

The issue of black inequality has been front and center in the national dialogue for weeks as protests rolled out nightly, but now the conflict has ignited in the heart of the protest movement itself. With each new demonstration against the killings of unarmed black men by white police in Missouri and New York, questions — and in many cases, objections — proliferate about the role of white voices in a movement that centers on African Americans’ grievances.

A prominent activist for homosexual rights in the military is awaiting trial for forcible sodomy and abusive sexual contact, the Washington Blade reports. Air Force Lt. Joshua Seefried was initially charged in April, a development that went largely unreported by the media. The charges came about after complaints from U.S. Marine Lt. Edgar Luna, who is also homosexual. On a weekend in May of 2012, Seefried had gathered with a group of homosexual military officers in New York City. Luna was also present, and the group was celebrating the repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, which Seefried’s...

The reprehensible Rosie O’Donnell continued her rantings about the interrogation of terrorist suspects by the CIA on Thursday’s “The View,” but in-house conservative Nicole Wallace was on hand to put O’Donnell in her place. (VIDEO-AT-LINK)Wallace, who was director of media affairs in the Bush White House, was at work on 9/11 and vividly recalled fleeing the office after the attacks and calling her parents. She said the intelligence officers who did the interrogations necessary to prevent another attack had her gratitude. “I don’t think anyone is defending brutal tactics. That’s why they don’t happen anymore. But I have never been...

While it would certainly be cathartic to flog the GOP for the lousy omnibus bill House Republicans just passed, it seems more productive to tackle a bigger issue. After a historic, yet unearned (Obama was the real GOP MVP) election victory, isn’t it time for the Republican leadership to try to heal the rift with the base that’s tearing the party apart? Do Republican leaders REALLY want to spend the next two years of a presidential election cycle getting trashed the way they are right now by activists, Tea Party leaders and radio talk show hosts? Anyone who thinks the...

The end times are upon us. I find myself in agreement with not just Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), but House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). It’s not just me. Right Wing News’ John Hawkins — not exactly a cheerleader for bipartisan consensus — is publicly standing with Warren, Pelosi, and their liberal allies in the House and Senate. As have conservative Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ted Cruz (R-TX), Townhall.com’s Amy Otto, and Tea Party Patriots, among many others. And I’m not only opposed to the omnibus bill that squeaked through the House and may fail in the Senate. I’m...

Sex differences in risk seeking behaviour, emergency hospital admissions, and mortality are well documented. However, little is known about sex differences in idiotic risk taking behaviour. This paper reviews the data on winners of the Darwin Award over a 20 year period (1995-2014). Winners of the Darwin Award must eliminate themselves from the gene pool in such an idiotic manner that their action ensures one less idiot will survive. This paper reports a marked sex difference in Darwin Award winners: males are significantly more likely to receive the award than females (P<0.0001). We discuss some of the reasons for this...

Barring any last-minute glitches — admittedly, no small concern — the House of Representatives will vote sometime Thursday on an omnibus spending bill that takes the place of 11 out of the 12 appropriations bills that Congress, were it working under regular order, would have produced this year. The 1,603-page bill, which was only made public late Tuesday, will fund the majority of the government through the end of this fiscal year in September. The exception is the Department of Homeland Security, which will be funded by a temporary continuing resolution (CR) so that Republicans, when they have control of...

Such has been the Democrat talking point in fain shock at the Central Intelligence Agency’s enhanced interrogation of terrorists. The program reportedly began in early 2002 and lasted until late 2007 so as to not indict Mullah Obama’s regime. The staff which wrote the report probably got some help from Hollywood writers to make it more dramatic. These are the same al Qaeda terrorists who were part of the effort that killed 3000 Americans on Sept 11. But then what do Democrats care? They weren’t going to get their votes anyway. This was a naked act of political grandstanding by...

This morning my Daughter and her friend were jogging on the bridge today. They came across a 45 caliber Glock in the grass by the sidewalk. It appeared someone tried to toss the gun from a moving car into the marsh, but missed. She saw a policeman writing a traffic ticket and told him what she saw. He asked her to wait while he finished his business. Then he came and interviewed the girls and called the investigators to treat the gun as a crime scene.

Sen. Tim Scott gives the Republican Party's Weekly Remarks Hi, I’m Senator Tim Scott from the great state of South Carolina. I’m deeply honored to have been elected by the hardworking people of South Carolina to represent them in the United States Senate. The mid-term elections put the President’s policies on the ballot, and the American people overwhelmingly rejected them by electing Republicans into office all around the country. (Scroll down for video of these remarks.) The new Republican majority in the Senate, alongside the House of Representatives, will present solutions that work for American families, and I truly hope...

To say the last 24 hours of research has uncovered significant information would be the understatement of the year. We are going to attempt to share the discoveries and keep the text digestible, but the depth here is really consuming. So we’ll start with a troubling outline of the investigation and then share more alarming evidence of big trouble in a small town. First concern – given the current framework and national sentiment around racial crime, you can quickly identify why DA John Champion would be the absolute worst possible person to seek Justice for Jessica Chambers. Once you know...

The Rev. Al Sharpton is keeping expectations low for Saturday’s National March Against Police Violence — predicting that only “several thousand” protesters will gather along Washington’s Pennsylvania Avenue. “We have over 100 buses coming from New York alone, but I’m not giving out numbers,” Sharpton told The Post Friday night. The permit is for just 5,000 protesters, a National Parks Service spokesperson said Friday. That’s modest by DC protest standards. Martin Luther King Jr. amassed a crowd of 250,000 for his 1963 civil-rights march; the 1995 Million Man March drew 400,000 to the nation’s capital.
  • In Colorado, We Are Entering a Stoned New World

We are entering a Stoned New World here, as Colorado entrepreneurs come up with new ways to make money in the new… ah… atmosphere… of tolerance. It’s also an interesting test case for longtime proponents of legalization such as myself, to see what happens when perfect theory encounters an imperfect world. Our first stumbling block is that the state-sponsored growers and sellers cartels have kept prices artificially high (no pun intended), so we still have a black market for the green herb. That also means, as we’ve discussed here before, that tax revenues are not meeting expectations.
